  1. Yeah they absolutely have to destroy the easy part of the schedule. Hopefully Bichette being back is the spark they need to at least be a decent offensive team down the stretch. More Jansen in the lineup would help as well.
  2. The Jays own the tiebreaker over the Astros but not over the Mariners. So the Jays are actually closer in the standings to the Astros now. If all 3 finish in a 3 way tie, then the Mariners and Jays would advance as both own the season series over the Astros. Rooting for the Astros demise seems more fun anyway.
  3. If he was 83 pitches in the 3rd inning and struggling, he would have been kept in. That’s just how Schneider is. Get to 5-6 innings and then he can have his little wet dream of using his entire bullpen the rest of the way.
  4. To be fair he hit the ball in the air and it went over the fence. That goes against the org hitting philosophy.
  5. Schneider hitting the ball in the air and over the fence again. That week off to learn the Blue Jay way didn’t work.
  6. Shocked that they actually punted DeJong. It was the right move but was not expecting them to drop the vetrin and keep the young guy they never played.
  7. This is how I’m coping with this. Even if the Jays make the last playoff spot, I have no faith in them being able to hit Sonny Gray and Pablo Lopez so if they make it then great, but if not, at least it should (in theory) lead to more significant change.
  8. If DeJong were an established starting caliber player I would agree, but no chance I’d give this much rope to a role/bench player when he’s been as bad as he has been. Schneider had like 2 bad games and never played again. I just don’t see the logic here but clearly they want defense even if it negatively impacts the offense so they are doubling down on it.
  9. Holding on to DeJong who just put up a -1.0 WAR in 2 weeks when you’re leading the WC by half a game is insanity, but vetrin presents and I guess whatever prospect they gave up for him is going to hold more weight.
  10. It will 100% be Schneider going down. I’ll be shocked if it’s anything other than that.
  11. If the Angels FO was running the Jays, then Arjun would have started in place of Bichette the past 2 weeks. Probably would have done better than DeJong.
  12. Springer is also pulling the ball a lot less this season. Not sure why him and Chapman specifically have changed so much over 2022. They are vetrins so I doubt the Jays coaching staff suddenly wanted to tinker with them.
  13. This competitive window was predicated on Vlad being a superstar so if he’s a 0-2 WAR player instead, then Atkins is kind of f***ed. It’s actually a testament to how good his recent short term MLB moves have been that they are this good despite Vlad being a 0 WAR player. Either way if the Jays miss the playoffs, then ultimately it’s the front office and/or coaching staff that will take the fall for Vlad not living up to expectations.
  14. Yeah if the Jays miss the playoffs, which let’s face it is a very real possibility with Seattle right there, then John Schneider should be one of many on the hot seat, including Atkins. My guess is they’d keep Atkins and Schneider while making Guillermo/Hudgens the fall guys but who knows. Missing the playoffs while being a tax team for the first time can’t sit well with Rogers.
  15. If Espinal and DeJong bat in the 9th, then John Schneider can f*** the hell off.
  16. “Let’s get both the 70 wRC+ bat and the guy with a -1.0 WAR in 2 weeks into the lineup tonight because of defense”. You deserve that (John) Schneider.
  17. DeJong is going to have a -1.0 WAR as a Jay by the time Bichette is back.
  18. What a shift. Gibby put Juan Francisco at 3B because he said f*** it and just put the best bat available there, while the Jays now will put 70 wRC+ players on the field just to improve the defense. I guess with the way the Jays are built, they value the run prevention more.
  19. I think the minimum Ohtani gets is 12/600. It might end up being more than that if the big market teams start bidding the price up (Cohen specifically). I'd be shocked if he's not on the Dodgers next season. He gets to stay in LA where he's presumably comfortable and be on a consistently great team. It's the ideal scenario.
  20. Schneider should be playing over Espinal/DeJong (whoever is not playing SS).
  21. If they had a bit more HR power in the lineup I would agree. I just can't see this "need 4 singles to score 1 run" style working against better pitching unless they get 2015 Royals type of BABIP luck. It goes without saying, but this team desperately needs Vlad to be 2021 Vlad, even if it's for 2 months. He changes everything.
  22. Pitching and defense yes. Offense no.
  23. And there’s still Green and Richards on the way. If this team had any HR power they’d actually be built pretty nicely for the playoffs.
  24. Lukes instead of Davis. Yeah we know who is getting sent down when Bo gets back.
