  1. When you feel like you have to use 6 relievers to get through 5 innings, there's a chance one of them is off, if not more. Hopefully the Jays can still pull this off.
  2. It’s going to be at least 5 relievers used tonight. Schneider probably has the biggest smile on his face right now.
  3. DeJong threw that like Kirk was running to 1st.
  4. Schneider turning into a legit 2B option for 2024 would be a huge development for this team. They have 4 holes to fill next season (2B, 3B, LF, DH). Filling at least one internally would be great.
  5. It would be his 4th game in 5 days if he came in today because he was needed in a blowout a few days ago.
  6. Schneider (John) deserves that for thinking Espinal should have been in this game to begin with.
  7. I have no idea what the hell is going on, but I'll take it.
  8. Man if you told me before the season that Vlad in August would be closer to a negative WAR than a 1 WAR, I would have laughed. Now I’m crying.
  9. Good line from Manoah, and Davis Schneider saving the offense. A nice night.
  10. Schneider starting at 2B and batting 7th tonight. Hopefully he can add a little pop to the lineup.
  11. If he starts in more than one of the three games, I’d be pleasantly surprised.
  12. Espinal was a really good defensive player but he hasn't been this season, combined with the noodle bat. DeJong is basically a better version of what we hoped Espinal would be, so having both on the roster is redundant even with Bo's injury.
  13. Not to mention getting rid of the home run jacket, not because they wanted to get more serious, but rather because they were going to stop hitting home runs. They tried to warn us.
  14. Yeah, Vlad's next two seasons are going to be expensive, and he's basically been a replacement level player this season. Hell, coming into today's game, if you combined his WAR from 2019, 2020, 2022, and 2023, it would still be less than Bichette's 2023 WAR alone. I know Vlad has a big name, and it wouldn't shock me if he has a 2021 type of season at least once in the next two years (likely 2025 when he has financial incentive to shape up), but you have to weigh that against the cost of his next two seasons and what they could potentially get for him combined with the fact that there's a chance that this is just what he is. With that said, I don't think there's a chance in hell the Jays, specifically Atkins, will ever trade him.
  15. Man, the hitting is bad enough, but also having to deal with Schneider unnecessarily taking pitchers out so he can use as many relievers as possible is too much for me. Hopefully when I look at the final score in a few hours I'll be pleasantly surprised.
  16. Might be time to try something different. Call up Schneider, platoon Barger and DeJong at short until Bo gets back, something. Even if it fails it would be less excruciating than watching the stuff we are seeing now.
  17. Can the Orioles bring Fujinami in again? They did last night, so why not one more time?
  18. If Varsho is even a 90-100 wRC+ player he's going to be really valuable, especially at CF next season. Great defensively.
  19. I don't think there's anything DeJong could do to justify picking up the option, which is fine as he's only a placeholder for Bichette for as long as he's out (hopefully not long).
  20. Not sure why the O’s manager thought Fujinami was the right guy to use in that spot, but thanks.
  21. I vaguely remember Matt Stairs blaming Gary Denbo for the team’s offensive struggles in 2008 and then praising the shift when Cito came in. Maybe I’m misremembering. Not saying we need Cito back but I think hitting coaches can make a difference. Whether that’s the reason for the 2023 team’s struggles is impossible to know from our end.
  22. Bichette: 3.4 WAR Vlad, Varsho, Springer, Kirk combined: 3.4 WAR I tend to agree that there is something that needs to be fixed, more so than just waiting for the numbers to normalize. It's getting a little late for the latter.
  23. 7 days coming into tonight. I get wanting to get him some work but bringing in a high leverage RP who could be the closer for the next few weeks into a blowout loss when he’s probably going to be needed a lot over the next week or two (no off days) is just not sensible.
