  1. Ump has been s*** on both sides but the Vlad one hurt since it cost the Jays at least a run. I’m telling Vlad in the dugout to not change a thing. Don’t swing at balls and potentially mess up the groove you are in. Just have to hope the Jays can pull it out. Umps will change game to game.
  2. Baltimore’s owner finding out he has to spend $30m on one player would make his head explode. Doubt they’d acquire Soto. Seattle makes sense.
  3. Not sure what Preller was smoking last winter. The Xander deal and the Machado + Darvish + Cronenworth extensions seemed so unnecessary at the time, and even more so now knowing they'll be losing Snell and Hader this winter, plus Soto and Kim a year from now. With that said, a trade for Soto to pair with Vlad/Bo in 2024 would be pretty cool.
  4. The Jays will definitely need to hit more home runs if they make the playoffs and expect to advance. Needing 3-4 hits in order to score in a station to station variety isn’t going to work against good teams, at least not often. They’ll need Vlad, Bo, and Springer specifically to hit more dingers. This is where losing Jansen and Belt really hurt, especially Jansen since the difference between him and Kirk is basically a power hitter vs a slap hitter.
  5. Winning 2/3 at the Trop in what could have been a sweep? That was a turn I was not expecting.
  6. High leverage Jimi strikes again.
  7. Haven't read anything, but I would assume Swanson and Hicks are available today, so I would hope they give Romano the day off (especially with the finger issue).
  8. I like the idea of Houston missing the playoffs entirely, so that’s what I’m rooting for.
  9. Rangers win, so that helps the Jays. Still 1.5 games up on the Mariners. Royals about to choke to the Astros but them winning 1 in the series is already better than I expected.
  10. Yes that or bring in Mayza to face Lowe. JS has never been a good in game decision maker, sadly.
  11. Romano is not the issue. Using him in a 1 run game in the 9th is justified regardless of what happens. However, that doesn’t apply if he’s injured/compromised, and the coaching staff knew about it 24 hours earlier, and still decided to use him. That borders on inexcusable.
  12. Lowe has a 54 wRC+ against LHP this season, and Romano clearly had something up with his finger. Baffling that Mayza wasn’t used there.
  13. Have a bad feeling about this but hope for the best.
  14. I like how Buck called Romano’s finger issue before the first hit but the Jays don’t seem to care.
  15. This is why winning last night was so big.
  16. In a WC series it would be Gausman/Berrios/Bassitt, and in a 5-7 game series, Kikuchi would follow Bassitt. You can certainly make an argument that Kikuchi could be the #3 guy but I don’t think there’s any chance the Jays actually consider that if everyone is healthy.
  17. The Mariners have the Astros for 3 while the Rangers have the s***** Angels, so yeah that's probably what we should be rooting for. I don't want to have to trust anything involving the Angels and winning games.
  18. Huge win. If the Jays can take 1 of the next 2, it would be a fantastic road trip heading into the final week of the season.
  19. I hope having Merrifield and Espinal in the lineup for some reason was worth it for JS. Either way good to score 4 runs. Don’t take anything for granted in this s*** hole so more would be better.
  20. 1 Springer RF 2 Bichette SS 3 Guerrero Jr. DH 4 Biggio 1B 5 Kirk C 6 Chapman 3B 7 Varsho CF 8 Merrifield LF 9 Espinal 2B Kinda liked it better when the Jays lineup wasn't posted.
  21. Chapman is a Boras guy so as long as he's healthy he's going to decline. Unless the next 10 days are so abysmal for him that his numbers spiral, but even then Boras could probably do better than 1/20 for him given how bad the FA market is. I think I'm more interested in who the Jays get to fill LF next season. The 3B market is really bad, to the point where just plugging Biggio in there until Orelvis is ready might be the best option. Left field is more important because internally there are no suitable options and they desperately need to add a power bat there.
  22. The fact that I could totally see all of this happening, point by point, is scary. I think the chances of getting swept in Tampa are pretty high. They are a great home team and the Jays never win there anyway. If the Jays take 1/3, we should probably be happy with that. A 3-3 road trip in NY and Tampa would be a positive in my eyes. Then try to go 4-2 at home. I think 90 wins gets in, but 5-4 with 6 left against Tampa and 2 of the others being against Cole and King is a pretty daunting task.
  23. Yeah, have to go at least 5-4 in the last 9. They’d still have a shot at 4-5 but they’d need one of SEA/TEX to beat up on the other. Not going to be easy.
  24. Mitch White tonight: 4 IP, 5 H, 1 ER, 3 BB, 10 K, 0 HR
  25. Keeping pace with everyone and one less game on the schedule. Good stuff.
