  1. Only 2 runs being on home runs is beautiful. Would have been nice when runners were on base but baby steps.
  2. No doubt they are doing this because Schneider is 0 for his last 33 PA, but if they want to play the small sample size game, then Biggio in his last 30 PA has a .120 average and 41 wRC+, and that's without hitting like prime Barry Bonds for a month before that. Then there's Chapman who is 0-for-life since May and continues to play. Incredibly frustrating.
  3. Springer RF Belt DH Guerrero Jr. 1B Bichette SS Biggio 2B Kirk C Kiermaier CF Chapman 3B Varsho LF No Babe again tonight. JS trying to distract us from that fact by putting Chapman in the 8th spot, but no one is buying that.
  4. Minimum 300 PA takes that number up to 85 players! I'm mostly exaggerating with the .200 ISO part, but adding power to the lineup should be the focus. Thankfully Schneider has that profile, and Orelvis has that profile, so at least internally there are players who can add power to the lineup if/when they are given a chance to play everyday.
  5. Yeah they didn't intend for the offense to be like this but it's basically been this way the entire season. Completely unwatchable rooting for an offense that consistently needs 3 hits to score 1 run, and have slugs like Kirk running the bases on top of that. Although I'm sure there is someone out there who enjoys singles being hit the other way constantly and has found this season to be exciting because of it. The Jays have 4 holes to fill in the off season. One can be filled internally (Babe), but the other 3 better be filled by players with power. Minimum .200 ISO or don't go after them.
  6. The Jays lucked out with no big deadline pickup because Davis Schneider ended up being significantly better than anyone they realistically could have picked up. They weren’t trading for a 2 WAR in Aug/Sept deadline pickup. The Jays were in a weird position this season because they had guys in every position with no real way to clear playing time. Like they needed more offense in LF but they weren’t going to get rid of Varsho, for example. The only thing they could have done was trade guys like Chapman and Merrifield, while trying to trade for more long term options (like Burger) but that’s with the benefit of hindsight knowing how bad those two have been the last two months. They were kinda stuck hoping the existing roster started playing to their potential. Unfortunately they haven’t.
  7. Boring pretty much on all counts. Very reminiscent of the JP Ricciardi teams. They were usually fairly vanilla and lacked any real personality, and this team has that same type of feel to me. I mean if it leads to a playoff berth then that’s all that matters but a station to station offense focused on pitching/defense better not be the formula next season.
  8. Chapman since May 1 has a 82 wRC+ and 1.2 WAR in 454 PA. He had an incredible April (2.0 WAR in April alone) but he’s been s*** ever since. At this point you’re hoping he rejects the QO. Thankfully Boras is his agent so he will likely reject it regardless.
  9. Yeah if anything they aren’t pulling the ball enough. Seems like an org philosophy because even vetrins like Springer are focusing more on hitting the ball to center/the other way. Jansen and Babe are the only hitters who seem to pull.
  10. Pitching to Judge defies logic. Their lineup is ass.
  11. Jays are trying to be the 2015 Royals with heavy BABIP emphasis and a strong bullpen. JS being Ned Yost isn't much of a stretch either. But yeah it’s kind of irresponsible at this point not to play Babe. He’s one of the few HR threats in the entire roster, and even with the regression (which was bound to happen) he’s still putting up great numbers. Not sure what they expect from Whit specifically that’s going to help more than Davis can, aside from some singles that find holes.
  12. Unfortunately, Davis Schneider had to keep a Barry Bonds on roids pace in order to stay in the lineup. Any regression was going to lead right back to the vetrins getting his playing time.
  13. 1 Springer RF 2 Bichette SS 3 Guerrero Jr. 1B 4 Belt DH 5 Biggio 2B 6 Kirk C 7 Chapman 3B 8 Merrifield LF 9 Kiermaier CF Tonight's lineup. Looks like Babe Schneider lost his starting spot with his recent cold streak/regression.
  14. Yeah, Vlad draws that walk, and it's 1-0 Jays with the bases loaded, Biggio up (who has a great eye), and King struggling with his command. Could have been a completely different game. Or maybe it stays 1-0 and Romano blows it anyway. Who knows.
  15. Jays hitters are powerless slap hitters at home but are actually decent offensively on the road. All Wild Card games are on the road. They may not look this bad in a playoff setting, although I guess folding under pressure can happen anywhere.
  16. Schneider being 0 for his last 30 or whatever it is still has better AB's than Chapman.
  17. Ump has been s*** on both sides but the Vlad one hurt since it cost the Jays at least a run. I’m telling Vlad in the dugout to not change a thing. Don’t swing at balls and potentially mess up the groove you are in. Just have to hope the Jays can pull it out. Umps will change game to game.
  18. Baltimore’s owner finding out he has to spend $30m on one player would make his head explode. Doubt they’d acquire Soto. Seattle makes sense.
  19. Not sure what Preller was smoking last winter. The Xander deal and the Machado + Darvish + Cronenworth extensions seemed so unnecessary at the time, and even more so now knowing they'll be losing Snell and Hader this winter, plus Soto and Kim a year from now. With that said, a trade for Soto to pair with Vlad/Bo in 2024 would be pretty cool.
  20. The Jays will definitely need to hit more home runs if they make the playoffs and expect to advance. Needing 3-4 hits in order to score in a station to station variety isn’t going to work against good teams, at least not often. They’ll need Vlad, Bo, and Springer specifically to hit more dingers. This is where losing Jansen and Belt really hurt, especially Jansen since the difference between him and Kirk is basically a power hitter vs a slap hitter.
  21. Winning 2/3 at the Trop in what could have been a sweep? That was a turn I was not expecting.
  22. High leverage Jimi strikes again.
  23. Haven't read anything, but I would assume Swanson and Hicks are available today, so I would hope they give Romano the day off (especially with the finger issue).
  24. I like the idea of Houston missing the playoffs entirely, so that’s what I’m rooting for.
  25. Rangers win, so that helps the Jays. Still 1.5 games up on the Mariners. Royals about to choke to the Astros but them winning 1 in the series is already better than I expected.
