    I think it's more like 1 and 2. Not 1 and 1a. I also think Boston is going to add a #1/#2 top end starter, further solidifying that 1 status. I think the Jays will do some minor tweaking to the BP, trade for a closer, and call it a day. I don't see them going after a premium stud pitcher, do you?

    I thought he had a deal for 65m. 4/52 is a pretty solid deal for the Yanks. He was 4.4 WAR last year.

    That's only true to a certain extent. If he was a regular pitcher he wouldn't have been pitching past 35-36 most likely. The fact is, all pitchers decline and stop at some point. There is cardio/stamina and other factors that affect a pitcher, and look how Wakefield did his last 2 years. Even knuckle ballers call it a day at some point.

    Right, Dickey is 40 years old, and I expect you seem him regress a bit this year. Buerhle is 35, and I think he'll lose another couple of clicks on his pitching and drop off too. But I think Stroman is better than anyone in the Red Sox rotation, for now, until they add someone like Hamels. I am not sure what the Jays plan on doing, hopefully they still recognize they need a proven young #1.

    Ya no team has really come close to the Red Sox. And they are still looking for another top end starter not a bottom rotation pitcher. But Castillo was added last year? Although he looks pretty solid from the couple of games I saw him play.

    Well, I think they planned on using Happ as trade bait to improve other areas. Although, they should have kept him in hindsight if they don't add a legitimate #1 or #2 starter. I like Happ + Cabrera a lot more over Estrada/Saunders. I would have dumped Lind for a reliever instead. I don't believe Estrada was the best offer they could have got, because they could have waited a couple of weeks until more teams had a better idea of the direction their team was taking.

    With the Miley trade most likely going to happen. Can someone give the projected WARs for Boston's rotation and Toronto's rotation? Is Estrada #5 or is Sanchez at this point? I'm not up to date what the team plans to do because I keep hearing Sanchez is starting in the pen.

    Ya, at the deadline they can always trade for a front end starter depending how things shape up. They don't have too many holes at this point. Even the Jays could use a starter, among a 2b, and a closer, and another reliever. Red Sox have enough trade chips to easily get a #1/#2 during the year if they feel they need to. Top to bottom the Sox are pretty solid hitting, and a solid pen, and a very decent rotation.

    Ok, so is this how it works. Player X is available. Everyone on the boards goes, we should trade this player and that player for them. Then Player X might get traded to another team. Then everyone on the board goes, oh we'd crush that player, they aren't meant for the AL etc..

    So who do you see that's left that is as good? I don't think ~6.25m/yr for him was a bad deal.

    Did the Marlins eat a lot of Buerhle's contract and is he a #1 starter? Lester is 30 years old, and is a #1 starter. I think it's safe to say those now cost upwards of 20m+. He's signed through 36 with a vesting option. It's not that crazy considering the trend in salaries. I think the cubs now they have some team control over very high upside players and they are looking to switch from rebuild to compete right away. They have a pretty solid team now.

    Gregerson was the guy this team needed. AA missed the boat.

    Some will be extended. But, Cubs, Yankees, Red Sox, Tigers, WSH, and several others will all be looking to sign guys too. I don't think there will be any deals.

    Lester is younger than Shields and should still be good as their players develop. They probably won't have to worry about payroll for quite a while. By then, they can always flip Lester

    The Jays don't suck. I don't think they are the favorites either. I think they are a top 10 team right now. If they traded for, or signed a #1, I think they could be a top 5 team. I think Boston signs Lester and/or trades for another front end starter. I also don't think the Jays are done yet either, so I prefer to wait until opening day until I see what the rosters are before saying, the Jays are not making or making the playoffs this year. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

    That would most likely be about 60m in salary for all 3? I don't see how they could do that.

    Yes, they balance their risks as people move bets into different teams, however, it's still a rough estimate of what the odds are because anyone can place bets and win. So those odds don't move that much daily. Anyways, you can spin it anyway you want, yes the Jays are the best team on paper, and we will win the world series twice this year, is that better? I am just showing you what the Vegas odds are. Because if you have different odds, and the Jays are the favorite, I highly suggest you place big bets on them, since you are getting a 14/1 odds on them right now. Right?

    Well, you can doubt vegas odds, it's not like it's a billion dollar business or anything. I guess we can just go off WAR and everyone's opinion on these forums instead.

    Well, easy there cowboy. We aren't top 5 yet. Jays are in at 14/1 according to oddshark (they provide a lot of data to various vegas bookies). Jays are currently at 14/1 to win the 2015 world series. That's tied with SF/SEA. They are somewhere in the top 10, but Boston is a favorite right now. Remember, oddsmakers generally don't just use current info, they try putting in future info like (open offers, guessing what future moves the club might do) to their odds so they use all available information. But no, the Jays are not one of the best, they would need to be a top 5 team for that, which they aren't, unless you are smarter than the Vegas oddsmakers.
