  1. Dammit. I'm not upset that you took a guy from my list. I'm uspset that he wasn't even on my list. I'm woefully underprepared for this.
  2. Morel will have trouble finding work as a one position player at this point in his career. It's in his interest to work on 2B regardless of where he is. He stands to benefit from the work he did in Dunedin.
  3. I absolutely love that quote because I'm sure the irony that they are the ones who "exposed" Martinez in the first place and put him in this mess isn't lost on them. That being said if the Cards are dumb enough to make this a thing that's their loss.
  4. I'd DFA Sierra before any of the pitchers but I suspect the opposite will happen because of the team's need to pretend they have a solid right-handed bat off the bench.
  5. I'm still not convinced he's worse than Rogers but ultimately that may only mean that they both suck.
  6. This really saddens me. I was a huge fan of his in his prime. I liked him more than Halladay TBH. I feel like the downturn his career has taken will obscure how great he truly was.
  7. What a run the Jays had on First baseman in the nineties. Delgado replaced Olerud who replaced McGriff.
  8. It's not an esthetic thing. If every pop up becomes an automatic double play, you would seriously sap offense. It also would create terrible confusion among the runners. If you break for 2nd, they make the catch and double you off a first. If you stay put, you get thrown out at 2nd. The infield fly is there because baseball just doesn't work without it. You're not fixing baseball. You're reinventing the wheel.
  9. Way cooler than Bautista's desperate pleading.
  10. Why the f*** not? It's a dumb contest, why make a serious selection?
  11. It's probably just easier to leave the pitchers off altogether... Fernandez, Alomar, Delgado and either Bell or Carter.
  12. Absolutely and it doesn't really mean anything. It's the first spring training appearance from a guy who isn't expected to be MLB ready in the first place.
  13. Not a great peformance from Sanchez but it is nice to hear Wilner be frank about it and not try to spin it into something falsely positive.
  14. Tony Fernandez > Delgado (and I love Delgado).
  15. Tony Fernandez and three other guys.
  16. Now that Boras has made it clear that he's willing to adapt to the Blue Jays 2014 payroll parameters to make a deal happen, I really couldn't care less about Santana. I would legitimately get upset if the Jays opted to spend too much money on him rather than deal with Boras and sign Drew.
  17. Anthony's in mid-season form.
  18. They can still block the plate, they just can't do it without the ball. It's a very reasonable change. It won't eliminate collisions entirely but it will eliminate the completely unnecesary ones.

That's putting it midly. Can you imagine how terrifying it must be to have your (presumably) angry boyfriend waive a gun in your face. Even if he didn't utter the words, I feel like that should be treated like a death threat and prosecuted accordingly.
  20. Hopefully this is just the Mets putting pressure on Boras to accept their offer for Drew. Reportedly 9.5 M has already been offered and turned down.
  21. I just realized that I assumed you were talking about the infamous Rangers contract but the Yankees contract is awfully stupid and a big worse contract contender. They had all the leverage and still gave the idiot what he wanted. They should have walked away. The big thing that salvages it is that the Yankees have more money to burn than other clubs.
  22. Let's put it this way, I give Fielder better odds of losing weight than I give Pujols odds of getting younger.
  23. I don't for the life of me understand for the life of me why baseball doesn't allow teams to trade draft picks the way other sports do. That's the best way to maintain the natural flow of the draft because it's a system that self-regulates. Instead they tried to fix the draft through a cap and that only exposed new loopholes. Now instead of picks getting punted in favour of signability, it's entire rounds. Big improvement.
  24. Pujols will bounce back but for how many years? One bounce back season or two won't necessarily make that contract anything other than a bad deal. Fielder is at least young, he may not be as good as expected at the front end of the deal but he should at least still be playable until the very end. Pujols could easily be a sunk cost for most of his contract. That's the no-brainer worst deal for me.
