    The playing multiple positions aspect is a bit overrated with Boni because he's so damn terrible at them. He doen't play multiple positions so much as be equally terrible at more than one position.

    Well he was going to stick to slot anyways so it probably wouldn't have made a difference. The pitch that JPR made to ownership was that he could build a winner on the cheap an he came very close to accomplishing that. AA, on the other hand, has been much more liberal with bonus money and has benefited from a more committed ownership overall.

    I finally got a chance to check this. Karns was #99 on Law's list last year.

    What a baller. He probably wanted to stay in the NL just to keep sticking it to him.

    Well what "the industry" believes and what the Rays believe are two different things. I'm guessing they didn't give up all that to make him a reliever. He's a 10+ K/9 starting pitcher with virtually no hype. That's makes for a pretty interesting guy to pounce on.

    He made 23 starts in AA last year. I say he's a starter.

    It's ridiculous to make any assumptions about "clean" players.

    He meant Stroman and Sanchez. Sanchez will surely have been cut by then but Stroman is a possibility.

    I remember Nate Karns making a top 100 prospect list last year. Maybe Law's?

    Me too. I wonder if they signed him just to save some face and look like they salvaged something from an off-season that's been a P.R. disaster for them. They probably already know that none of the reamaining pitchers will sign with them.

    That's more than I would have expected the cheap tickets to go for. I probably wouldn't go to more than one game at that cost.

    Oh the irony... This is probably the last team he should have signed with but, then again, there probably wasn't nearly as much interest in this guy as was reported.

    Depends on your budget I suppose. If I'm not the Yankees or the Dodgers than I can't justify putting that much money on a reliever. No matter how good Chapman is, there are better places to put that kind of money.
