1. Just read that, sucks for Spanky who just drafted him. It would be nice if the Royals inquired on Santos or Janssen but at this point it's pretty obvious that AA would rather keep his relievers than move their salaries and bring in a Drew or Santana.
2. I'm pretty sure he's not a good defensive 2B hence the move to 3B. Shortstop seems like a stretch but if anyone has an actual scouting report that would be helpful because I'm just going on memory here.
3. Two picks for Boxy here. He said he would pick after work so JaysFever should be up pretty soon.
4. Right... Upcoming picks 76 Boxy (expired window) 83 Sammy 84 Boxy 85 JaysFever 86 Fearthedoc 87 GeorgiePeach 88 Silvergun 89 JaysBlue 90 JaysFever 91 TheCatsAss 92 Silvergun 93 No49 94 No49 95 Torontofan 96 No49 97 KingKat 98 No49 99 Realmin 100 Fearthedoc
5. Does it make sense that Jeffress is pitching to avoid a DFA and McGowan is generally assumed to make the team and not get DFA'd no matter what?
6. Given the lack of depth at 2B and 3B, I could see Andy Burns becoming an important role player for the Jays.
7. Remaining picks: 82 z3r0s 83 Sammy 84 Boxy 85 JaysFever 86 Fearthedoc 87 GeorgiePeach 88 Silvergun 89 JaysBlue 90 JaysFever 91 TheCatsAss 92 Silvergun 93 No49 94 No49 95 Torontofan 96 No49 97 KingKat 98 No49 99 Realmin 100 Fearthedoc
8. Answered my own question. Sorry about that. I'm not short a pick. I forgot to count Doumit at 52.

King Kat just keeps adding bodies.

10. Why did pick 77 go to Silvergun and not me? I'm short a pick.
11. The Brewers are reported to being really motivated to move Weeks. He could probably be had as a salary dump or in a swap of bad contracts. It's something the Jays should explore but we haven't heard boo about it.
12. I think a better argument for why Ortiz wouldn't be declining is that he became a full time DH relatively young and that has given his body a bit of a break because at his age he really should have lost some bat speed in addition to everything else.
13. Maybe there's something to the idea that Toronto really has a knack for scouting high school arms. That still doesn't make an exclusive focus on them a desirable draft strategy by any stretch but it the club may not be not wrong to think that they do it relatively well as opposed to it merely being the one aspect of the draft where they don't do poorly.
14. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I think that would be a great job for Goins. I don't mean that as a put down. Having a quality defensive middle infiedler who, depending on roster needs, can be taxied back and forth (not to Vegas like McCoy but simply to Buffalo) would be a great assett for the club. He'd be a better Mike McCoy than Mike McCoy.
15. Predicting decline phases is extremely hard. I doubt there's a tried and true method. Everyone ages differently in the first place and with performance enhancing drugs it's gotten even more complex. David Ortiz looked stick a fork in him done about four years ago and he's still going strong. He's defying age patterns pretty dramatically. He probably has the most supicious career ark of any current player but the truth is we have no idea how many players use drugs to cheat aging. Not knowing leaves us almost completely in the dark when it comes to predicting decline phases. What may seem like the beginning of a player's decline (Ortiz, a few years back) often turns out to just be a temporary downturn.
16. The Mets are in a terrific position with D'Arnaud posed to be a battery mate to all that young pitching.
17. I didn't realize Hudson was in demand. I'm not optimistic about his health situation but he's young and talented and that makes him a solid get in a keeper league. I figured Gibbers would probably try to get him back which is why I pulled the trigger. It's a solid buy low but it wouldn's surprise me at all if he ended up in this draft again next year.
18. Spanky can't tell his dogs from his cats.
19. Al Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal-bu-querque
20. The hand symbol stuff is kind of dumb but it's the kind of thing where every fan is fine with it then the team does well and finds it super irritating when the team does poorly. It's evem more annoying when it calls attention to one of the team's most terrible players. Lo Viste sucks because Bonifacio sucks.
21. That was my own comment on my own pick.
22. Oh yeah... I kind of lost the plot there.
23. No one should expect a lot of innings from Happ. He's at the very best a 150 IP guy and that was 4 years ago. He's basically a swing man. The hope is that he'll be at least decent in the innings he does pitch.
