  1. Jays had pretty extraordinary luck last year. Healthy rotation all season.
  2. Presumably the Phillies want something stupid as a return for Hamels and they'd rather play the waiting game then cave now. I can't really blame the Phillies. If the Red Sox get off to a bad start the pressure to make a move, even a desperate one will grow.
  3. Pretty solid MiLB depth behing those guys, Henry Owens, Brian Johnson, Matt Barnes, Ed Rodriguez so they're not locked into that starting 5. They have good length but no one they have, not even Owens, has ace potential.
  4. The image of Buchholz is enough to undermine that whole article before anyone reads a single word.
  5. King's point still holds though. No one is clamouring for Gindl to start in LF either and this in spite of injuries to every other LF.
  6. Or just knows how to make an offer he'll accept right off the bat.

02Cui would have more insight than any of us but I can't really see this shity flying in Sweden.
  8. I can fully understand why Gibbers rejected my offer but I would have appreciated some feedback and an opportunity to counter. I certainly didn't intend it as a line in the sand. I guess I should have just assumed no negotiation and tried to do a better job of reading his mind or possibly just throw a bunch of different offers at once.
  9. Buehrle must be the only pitcher in the league who needs to "learn how to get Delmon Young out".
  10. That would be ideal and I really hope that's what happens but it's really seeming like this Navaroo as DH, Thole as backup catcher thing has legs.
  11. Yeah I'd rather have Smoak too but if they go with both Thole and Navarro, there will be a bit of a squeeze where you have to do one of the following configuations: Thole, Valencia, Smoak/Navarro, Goins (in this scenario, Travis and Smoak are esentially the 4th and 5th OFs and Tolleson is DFA'd and Pillar probably goes back to the minors when Saunders comes back or someone has to be moved) Thole, Valencia, Smoak/Navarro, Tolleson (in this scenario, Tolleson isn't DFA'd but Pillar still has to go back to the minors when Saunders comes back or someone has to be moved) Thole, Valencia, Goins, Tolleson (Tolleson is basically just there because he's out of options and can sort of back up the OF. Either he gets DFA'd or Goins is demoted when Saunders comes back) Thole, Valencia, Goins , Gindl(in this scenario, Tolleson is DFA'd but you have a true backup OF who you can demote when Saunders comes back, one of Smoak or Navarro has to go now though)
  12. Pffft... If you're not scouting on the radio, you're doing it wrong.
  13. I'm surprised Eddie is already back at 1B. Didn't expect that. I wonder if there's still a chance Smoak gets squeezed out of a roster spot. Would suck of course but it's not outside the realm of possibility.
  14. At this point I want Navarro's roster spot more than I want Navarro. That way the Jays can roster Thole if they want to and it's no big deal.
  15. Wilner had a decent piece comparing the Halladay trade to others: http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-return-halladay-stack/
  16. Well If we're taking the Papelbon contract of the Phillies hands, the least they can do is take Navarro.
  17. Sure I did but I didn't care enough to store a clear mental image of it. It's not unusual at my age to forget this kind of stuff.
  18. WTF? I could have sworn I saw him listed a lefty just the other day. Whatever, he didn't earn a job and that has nothing to do with Castro and Osuna.
  19. I really don't feel like Drabek was ever in competition with Osuna and Castro. Drabek could have been the extra lefty in the pen and Colt Hynes has flat out beat him for that job.
  20. Well that's a lucky break. I assume you would have burned the waiver had you noticed earlier but turns out you didn't have to. I know a lot of people hate the FanTrax emails but this is exactly why I love them. I'd rather get bombarded with emails than be in the dark about something like this.
  21. There's confusion because the situation is inherently confusing. I had to read your explanation three times. A lot of the problem stems from the fact that the term IFA gets applied to two very different classes of player. That's not on you. That's just the way baseball does it. So what exactly happened here? Was Iglesias in the pool the whole time or was he recently added and you waited for him to clear waivers?
  22. I have never been a bid Drabek fan. His makeup issue were know and his MiLB résumé was weak with 2009 being his only good season. I've called him a ******** prospect several times. I really feel like the "Drabek" created helium around him that he didn't earn. I was way more excited about getting Brett Wallace than Drabek though it turns out Wallace had his own very different reasons for not being the real deal (fortunately AA had the wisdom to cash that chip at the right time). There was a brief period when Drabek pitched with the Jays where he seemed to be "battling" out there and I got optimistic that he was over his makeup issues and could make something of himself but in hindsight that was very naive. The walks and the babip gods caught up to him and then the second TJ finished him off. I'm relieved AA didn't try to save face here. It's a shame that the team saw something in him in the first place but that s*** happens.
  23. Smoak's defense frequently gets overstated. He provides more defensive value than EE or Lind but he's not a glove man like Daric Barton.

Hansbrough looks completely out of place on a basketball court.
