  1. When did B.J. Upton decide to confuse everyone and change his name to Melvin Jr.? I kept thinking I was seeing misprints yesterday.
  2. Thanks. It's good to know although since this is a travel day, most owners are unlikely to have enough players starting to make replacements. The bigger impact will be on the rotation schedule.
  3. I think eye-popping ratios would merely confirm not enhance the hype at this point.
  4. Also, I think we both realize that Hoffman's value is really getting boosted by the fact that he's not actually seeing any action.
  5. You could have beat Silvergunn to Hoffman.
  6. I didn't say Steam Whistle was a good beer. It isn't. Going there was a good time though.
  7. Also refreshing to have a good catcher to maximize the contribution of the pitchers. I knew Martin was a great defender and pitch framer but I wasn't really a believer in the whole game calling thing but Hutch's success yesterday seemed to have as much o to do with sequencing than with pure stuff. That might be reading too much into one start but we all know that Martin definitely is a good catcher before you even consider what game calling might be worth. Minor quibbles about AA aside, the fact that he is finally equipping his pitching staff with a partner like this feels like a watershed moment in his tenure.
  8. I only have one home opener experience but when I went we partied at the Steamwhistle brewery before the game and that was a good time. It was way too busy for tour but they gave you free beer as soon as you walked in which is better than a tour anyways.
  9. Hutch arguably had worse command than Tanaka yesterday but he did a much much better job of mixing it up.
  10. I really didn't think Tanaka was that bad yesterday. A little more luck for Tanaka and little less luck for Hutch and it seems to me like the lines could have easily been reversed.
  11. And the whole situation with the backup catcher who feels entitled to more (and possibly has been promised more) isn't of Gibbons' creation.
  12. lol @ my dad who never watches baseball nitpicking Bautista's stance.
  13. I'm not blaming Gibbons for Navarro. It was AA's job to resolve this mess.
  14. Just to add to this... The frequency of 2 out no one on base PAs for the 3rd hitter knock the value of that spot down a peg in spite of what conventional wisdom says.
  15. Fixed again.
  16. Probably a good thing at this point.
  17. God Damn It! I just wanted to be a dimissive lazy ******* about this. You mean I have to form an informed opinion? (Kicks rock.)
  18. It's a shame Bautista is so caught up on the so called "honour" of batting third. Leadoff or even 2 is way too out of the box but 4 would seem like a nice compromise. Cleanup hitter has a nice ring to it. That one SHOULDN'T feel like a demotion but it's just one of those things that's not worth upsetting a star player over.
  19. I'd really like to see some numbers on this rather than anecdotal evidence. Otherwise, I'm pretty much going to assume confirmation bias.
  20. Seems like a fairly accurate representation of the team to me. Stanton + a bunch of walking corpses.
  21. Or never ever facing a right-handed hitter again. I see him as insurance for Hynes more than anything else.
