  1. You could even call it fringy.
  2. Agree with all thas has been said. When we grieve for a human relative, that grief is at least socially recognized. You are given some time and more important your loss is acknowledge through formal means. Funerals aren't for everyone but they do serve a useful social function. With pets, the grief feels more personal because it seems like there's no collective recognition that this life had meaning and importance. At least you'll find that all the people who have been through it too are very supportive and understanding. I had a similar situation a few years back with the original King Kat. He and his sister were my first adult pets (first pets period actually, my parents hate domestic animals). He was just the gentlest most affectionate creature and I really wanted him to stay with me forever and I don't think I'll ever build such a strong bond with another cat. I'd say it probably took me a full year to trully and fully grieve. I don't doubt that you did everything you could possibly do for your dog.
  3. Just be glad the team is winning. This would be a table flipper if the Jays were trailing.
  4. That "Business in the front, party in the back" commercial is so damn cringe-worthy.
  5. I find Wilner's arrogance surpasses his knowledge. Kind of a low rent Keith Law in that respect but with less knowledge and more bias of course. Thing is though is that I haven't listened to his show in years. It used to be relevant to the kind of fan I was and now I no longer find it relevant and I don't bother listening to something that would likely just irritate me. Like you said... If you want better less biased analysis, simply look elsewhere. Heck, you can pretty regularly find less biased more thorough analysis on this very board.
  6. Given the current state of pitching, I didn't think too hard about this one. My pick was only #10 too which is practically useless except for this class of player.
  7. Another fringe benefit of that trade is that it made Keith Law look like a tool.
  8. I get Vertigo just sitting in the nose bleeds. I takes all my nerve just to stand up and not feel like I'm going to tumble onto the field. I coudn't do what he did.
  9. Doesn't Boston have some sort of eye exercise they do with players to improve pitch recognition? I wonder if the Jays implemented something like that and if it's possible that something like that would have had an impact on some of the players who previously struggled with that aspect of the game.

Would another cup win significantly change Crosby's legacy or is it just gravy at this point?
  11. Not that I could participate but I'm surprised that a board trip to Lansing isn't a thing that is happening. This would be such a great time to see that team.
  12. Presumably, he just got busy. I'm not aware that he gave a formal reason or anything like that.
  13. It's a rule that favors the players. That doesn't really make it flawed. The alternative would be giving teams the ability to demote someone with options, like say Albert Pujols, to the minors just to keep him off the MLB DL.
  14. If not tonight then surely whenever Pearce came back.
  15. Yeah they would have run afoul of the union had they demoted him just to avoid the MLB DL. It's good that those rules exist because one can easily imagine how teams would exploit a loophole like that but in this case it screws the Jays because they probably didn't intend to keep Alford up much longer.
  16. I think the scouting reports have him down as a well below average player defensively and though he has pop, it's not enough to move him to another position. Classic tweener profile.
  17. Probably a lot more than what they had in mind when they called him up.
  18. Wrist injuries can definitely sap power but I don't know if this is severe enough to warrant that concern. Hopefully not.
  19. Have to admit I'm with the herd here. Why start Bautista at 3B if it's only to move Coghlan to the OF? This would be a perfect opportunity to bench Coghlan. You would think that would be the whole point.
  20. On a related note... I want to move assetts to improve my draft positioning. - Heath Hembree: currently 6th overall in holds - Chris Rusin: Relief pitcher ranked in the top 100 assetts with sweet, sweet SP elgibility and a 5.25 K/BB - Brandon Phillips: ho-hum but he'll fill a hole at 2B if you have one, still a solid source of SBs and OBP
