    Dwight Smith looks the best of all the depth outfielders right now. Cecilini and Ramirez are off to brutal starts and Alford though he is on the 40 too, is not a guy's whose service time you want to mess with. Smith isn't on the 40 but he isn't a long term asset so it's not a big deal if you add him to deal with an issue. That being said, Pompey looked so good in the spring that Smith probably doesn't have any real window. They can cover the outfield with utility (and really Smith should have been converted to that kind of player by now).

    I'm not opposed to Pagan but I doubt another guy who is short on reps is going to jump start the offense in the short term.

    I like that he's around a lot and has shown a sustained interest. I wouldn't expect him to flake. I'd prefer to go with someone who's been around over a new guy.

    Maahface is a serious candidate. He's show interest twice now. He probably has my vote.

    Couldn't make it last night but that was super fun to read through. King did a great job and I think everyone hit a nice light-hearted tone with their questions. I would have preferred that questions he had already answered in his podcast not get repeated but I know it wasn't realistic to expect everyone to have listened to that. I love how Barry answered the lurker question and how positive he's been in general. Huge props to him for the dignity and class with which he's handled his departure from Sportsnet. He doesn't throw anybody under the boss, never hints at bitterness and he's refocusing his energy on some cool personal projects. This is textbook handling of a career setback and it's really made me gain respect for him.

    It's no more or no less a scam than any other lottery. How much of the pot goes back to the winners of regular lotteries? Is it even 50%?

    Sentences like that are why I stopped following The Score. There is literally nothing to be gleaned from studying those other teams other than, "if you lose a bunch at the start of the season, you need to win a whole bunch down the line to make up for it".

    Cool. I was getting worried that the team was unwilling to play Morales in the field. You want to cut into Smoak's starts not his when offering the older players a DH breather. The Donaldson/Bautista flip flop seems kind of pointless but maybe they want to subtly encourage Bautista to follow Greg Zaun's advice and be less ambitious at the plate.

    The Moustakas/Odorizzi trade seems alright. I don't love either player so it's probably fair. Each owner shifts a second tier player towards a position of serious need.

    Simple changes: Donaldson to DH Morales to 1B Smoak to LF Martin to the bottom third of the order.

    King of begs the question of why he wasn't DH in the first place. Smoak > Goins is a pretty insignificant offensive hit compared to Donaldson > Goins.

    Morales to 1B and Donaldson DH seems like a really obvious way to improve the team right now.

    On the plus side, no bullpen woes tonight. That homerun to open the game was the TSN Turning Point. They chased that run all night.

    Kelly is the next best 3B on the depth chart. Would make sense to activate him now and give Donaldson some DH starts while he deals with his injury.
