  1. Well now you're just setting yourself up to debate the semantics of what constitutes an elite prospect and I'm not sure that what you define above meets what MOST would call elite which isn't to say he isn't a legit prospect.
  2. Full Metal Jacket fans presumedly. I approve.
  3. Well that's not how it was phrased. No mention about his fastball not playing up because of the angle. Seems to be strictly about lack of physical projection though perhaps the criticism was just poorly paraphrased.
  4. Am I the only one who finds this to be a bizzare criticism? Seems like he already throws hard enough to potentially be an effective major leaguer anyways. Does it really matter that much if he doesn't add velocity? This seems like a weirdly scout-centric perspective. "This guy is already pretty good but he doesn't lend himself to hyperbolic wish casting so I don't like him."
  5. Don't know if anyone posted this but yesterday was Bobby Bonilla day. http://www.espn.com/blog/new-york/mets/post/_/id/125162/happy-bobby-bonilla-day-his-annual-1-19-million-payday-is-here "Every July 1, from 2011 to 2035, the Mets make the ($1,193,248.20) payment as part of deferring the $5.9 million the Mets owed him from the 2000 season, a year in which he didn't play for the team, because they released him in January. As noted last year, Bonilla's agent worked out a deal that deferred payment (with an 8 percent annual interest rate)."
  6. Speaking of baseball and fan engagement, does anyone miss the intentional walk? I just realized that I have pretty much completely stopped noticing that rule change. I can't even remember the last time it came up in a Jays game.
  7. I don't understand their economic model but their must be some sort of economic incentive that's driving them to focus so much more on quantity than quality. With a bit more research, Sullivan might have been able to make something out of this or at least put together something that doesn't read like a padded undergrad paper.
  8. Wow... Not even speculation about whether they would trade their whole cap what they might be able to accomplish doing that (my guess is not much).
  9. If he's interested in coaching, I would love the Jays to bring him back but he should be getting his coaching experience in the minors first if that's the case.
  10. There's one actually interesting point of information. Leverage is down on average. That's something that at least theoretically should impact fan engagement. There's a whole lot of word count extending fluff grafted around that one little tidbit.
  11. Is Grilli going to be turned into some Toronto sports folk hero like Tie Domi or John McDonald? I'd rather he wasn't to be honest. He was a fun player to watch and he had a few good stretches (basically the stretch when he first arrived and his work in the playoffs) but his brief, middling though very entertaining tenure was already acknowledged with a whole Father's Day promotion built around him. That was in essence his sendoff. Anything beyond that would be overkill.
  12. My point was that I don't think the Jays are getting back in contention not that Montero can't hit but like I said earlier there's no downside to the move even if it's just shuffling deck chairs.
  13. Well it would have made sense a month ago but does it even matter now? I mean I guess since Maille has options and Montero won't cost much, there's no downside but big piccture, what the team really needs is to inject some youth.
  14. Adrian Beltre is rounding into mid-season form. Currently spotting an OPS over 900. Someone could use him for their playoff push.
  15. If the pick is still in effect, the player is Edwin Rios.
  16. Im not sure that you understand. I don't want ANY Edwin Diaz. I wanted a player with a different name. I should have double checked but I'm not at home and tried to just be quick about it.
  17. I called out the wrong name. I'm fine with voiding the pick.
  18. I meant a different guy. Not sure how you guys want to handle this. I'll defer to whatever you say.
  19. Am I the only one who remembers Roberto Alomar butchering Dwight Smith's name at the draft?
  20. This surprises me. They looked so good offensively for a while. I didn't think the bad stretches had dragged down the overall numbers so much.
  21. It's mostly good. Donaldson bat in a slightly worse spot but better bats around him more than offsets that.
  22. I honestly thought you were intentionally trying to start s***. That was why I told you to f*** off. That part I take back. No regret about the mere pittance of a ban you got though. It's a moderated board. You're not always going to agree with every moderated action.
