  1. Sure it does. A lot of waiver claims are just the team trying to sneak some depth into their system. This is how the team acquired Maille.

That's the most Ottawa thing ever. Certainly not the most Canadian thing. Other Canadian cities know how to have a proper hockey riot.
  3. O.K. That explains it. Works for me as I'm trying to squeeze out some La Stella starts in LOD.
  4. Sure, I knew that actually but they used La Stella at 3B in the other game of the double header which I probably should have mentionned as part of the reason why I was asking the question.
  5. What's going on with the Cubs 3B situation anyways? Are they planning to make Kris Bryant a full time outfielder?
  6. Dead in the water would be an exageration but I don't think it's terribly likely they climb out of this even if they play relatively well the rest of the way through.
  7. Are you two even talking about the same guy? He was talking about Goins at ss.
  8. - Put on tin foil hat - Stroman was originally going to be the replacement for Dickey in the WestJet ads until Boras negotiated a deal for his client Sanchez.
  9. The perks of having a gig where being a mouthy know it all is your job.
  10. Any one else notice how they Sanchez look short in the WestJet commercials? He's the tallest pitcher on the team and they make him look short by having him come up to the shoulders of the extras. Odd.
  11. That's why Smoak was really smart there. Give them a surer out, take one for the team.
  12. I think the rate of recovery with testicular cancer is fairly high.
  13. I've like what I've seen from Morales all year. Looked like a good hitter even when he was slumping.
  14. Yep. If the team had gotten off to a hot start, we'd be thrilled with this.
  15. Yeah the scrubby team is treading water which is all you can ask. The unfortunate thing is that the healthy team dug a hole that the scrubby team has no chance to pull them out of. Just an unfortunated string of events to start the season. With Bolsinger and Biagini in the rotation now, it kind of seems like the team has an eye on the 2018 (though ironically it's not like Biagini and Bolsinger are likely to be worse options for 2017 than Latos and Lawrence were). I feel like if it was just a question of filling a hole they would exhaust options like Oberholtzer and House first but instead they are plugging holes while also holding auditions for the 2018 rotation.
  16. Just because it's called Right Guard doesn't mean you can't apply it on both sides.
  17. Mike Ohlman has a 246/388/594 slash line in Buffalo this year. That's well above his career minor league line of 246/348/385. This seems like a case of the Jays opting to play the hot hand rather than burn an option year for Reese McGuire (who isn't very good offensively anyways). I don't really know anything about Ohlman other than the stat line I just posted.
  18. Because I think this is thread worthy... http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-place-russell-martin-10-day-disabled-list/ TORONTO — The Toronto Blue Jays have placed catcher Russell Martin on the 10-day disabled list due to a left shoulder injury. Manager John Gibbons said Martin is dealing with an inflamed nerve problem, but doesn’t expect him to be out for an extended period. Martin said the issue has limited the movement of his catching hand and arm. He first noticed the problem during spring training and it became worse when he aggravated the shoulder on the field. Martin said he’s not experiencing any pain, but is dealing with a lack of mobility and lack of normal strength. The veteran backstop is batting .197 with three homers and seven RBIs this season. The Blue Jays recalled catcher Mike Ohlman from triple-A Buffalo before Monday night's game against the visiting Cleveland Indians.
  19. This is what you get for not researching your post at all and going strictly on hazy middle aged memory.
  20. How you draft is more important than where you draft. Look at the Red Sox, they don't tank and they still make excellent picks like Benintendi. Meanwhile the last times the Jays had a really high pick, they blew it on Deck McGuire.
  21. Echoes of Erik Bedard in the WBC except I don't think Bedard really cared that much about ending on a s***** note and clearly Guthrie does. Both were about as (un)likely to pitch well though Bedard did dance through the raindrops a fair bit in his first WBC start.
  22. So the Cards just called up Magneuris Sierra. What the hell do we do with him? He was in the pool but not eligible because of not reaching AA. It's basically a free for all as soon as he plays his first game?
  23. I was looking in the wrong place. The Teams tab one only has former names of team (that I could see).
