  1. Good guesses Knorr was actually the backup in both 92 and 93, he played in 93 but didn't in 92, and Schofield is also right he did not play in 93. Danny Cox is wrong though, he played in game 6 in 1993 and helped blow the 5-1 lead they had before Carter's heroics in the 9th. So your missing 1 from 92 and one from 93, both were position players.
  2. I'd like to start a new type of thread, asking random and obscure Jays trivia. Name the 4 players that were on the 92 and 93 Jays World Series rosters that didn't get into any games. There were 2 each year! First to get the right answer gets a virtual cookie lol. No googling, that runs the fun!
  3. That was clearly foul, I don't understand why that wouldn't be reviewable, but we'll take it!
  4. That was so shady, especially that he ran to the clubhouse to change right away, I'm still convinced he was wearing some type of buzzer system.
  5. It must be pretty bad if they are putting him on the IL especially now that rosters are expanded. I'm guessing he might be out for the rest of the regular season or maybe come back for the last home stand. He'll likely need a couple of rehab games even after his stint on the IL is up. This is a major blow! Guys like Guerrero, and some of the bottom of the order guys are gonna have to step up. That IKF waiver claim is huge now. At least it will be a defensive upgrade at SS. Bo could have probably played through the injury, but guaranteed he doesn't want to risk it with pending free agency.
  6. Need to win this series! Pitching matchups are in our favour. Anything less then 2 out of 3 is bad. This is a series we can sweep!
  7. I think it needs to be said that Dave Popkins deserves a ton of credit for turning this team around this season. We essentially have the same players we had last season when we we had one of the worst offenses in the MLB to having arguably the best offense in the MLB this season. The turn around for guys like Springer, Kirk, and Bichette have been remarkable. Springer has literally turned back the clock 10 years and is having one of the best years of his career. Comparing numbers to last year we have raised our Bat average from .241 to .269, our OPS from .702 to. 771. We are top 5 in almost every offensive category, not to mention we lead the league is fewest number of strikeouts. The turn around has been truly incredible! Popkins for MVC (most valuable coach).
  8. Need to win 4 minimum in this upcoming homestand. Need to put some distance between us and the Yankees, especially with the Yankees having an extremely easy schedule after their series with Detroit and Boston.
  9. WTF, this ump is brutal! Bailed out Judge there that was strike 3.
  10. He didn't break his leg, He wouldn't have been able to stand up and walk off the field with a broken leg, calm down!
  11. Everyone jumping off a cliff here, you can clearly see from the replay he hit his shin! Worst case he might need a few days off. He won't go on the DL for a bone bruise worst case scenario.
  12. I'm honestly shocked they overturned that, Yankees have really been on the wrong side of calls lately and I'm here for it!
  13. 2 out of 3 would be ideal, but realistically as long as we win at least 1 game in the Bronx were still is pretty good shape. Tonight's game is probably the most winnable with Gausman on the hill and the Yankees starting a rookie pitcher. I'll be satisfied with taking 1 game, as long as we don't get swept, were still in great shape to win the division.
  14. How can you say Vlad over Springer? Springer is literally ahead of Vlad in almost every meaningful category including avg, OPS, HRs,obp, slg
  15. How can you say Vlad over Springer? Springer is literally ahead of Vlad in almost every meaningful category including avg, OPS, HRs.
  16. Why are we burning another bullpen arm here. Plain and simple Hoffman blew it, there is 2 outs let him finish the inning, game is over at this point.
  17. Jays have a legitimate chance to have 4 qualified players finish the season with a .300+ avg. This would be a first in Jays history, even the powerhouse 93 team only had 3 hitters with .300+ avg albeit they finished 1,2,3 in batting avg in the AL that year. Current - Bichette .304, Vlad .297, Kirk .296, Springer. 293
  18. Jays basically need to play .500 ball the rest of the way to win the division. Having the tiebreaker against both the Yankees and Red Sox is huge. That being said we need to make sure we get the #1 or #2 seed to avoid playing in the WC round. As we all know we don't have a good history in WC games (1-6). Also playing a 3 game series is such a crap shoot.
  19. If I was Commish, I would do 4 divisions of 8 teams. (2 AL, 2 NL). Back to pre-90s expansion divisions. Play each team within division 8 times (2 x 4 games) each team in other division 6 times (2 x 3 games) each team in other league 3 or 4 times alternating home games between divisions each year like now (play 4 games vs NLE, 3 games vs NLW). This would create a more balanced schedule and make more 4 game series and less travel overall. 160 game season. Each League has 6 playoff teams (2 Division winners, 4 WC teams).4 Division winners get bye in WC round. WC and DS rounds are best of 5, AL/NL and WS best of 7. This puts more importance back on winning your division. AL East - Tor, Bos, NYY, Bal, TB, Det, Cle, CWS AL West - Sea, Port (new), LAA, Tex, Hou, KC, Ath, Min NL East - Phi, NYM, Was, Atl, Pit,Cin,Nash (new), Mia NL West - LAD, SD, Ari, SF, Col, Mil, Stl, CHC
  20. I wonder if we will see 4 divisions in each League or 2 Divisions. Having divisions of only 4 teams could lead to some really unbalanced divisions like we see in the NFL. I would prefer two divisions of 8 in each league like we used to have before expansion in the 90s.
  21. Bassett is the #5 starter at this point. We need Beiber up ASAP.
  22. That Vladdy hit would of been a HR in almost every other MLB park. Comerica Park is massive and to think they have brought the fences in twice compared to when the park opened.
  23. 3 out 4 would be Great, but like I'd be happy with a split here. We haven't been very good in the road this year, so a split would still be a good result against the Tigers. At this point we need to be fighting for a top 2 spot in the AL. Would be great to not have to play in the WC series. Best of 3 is such a crapshoot.
  24. Unfortunately looks like only Garcia might return by the weekend, Varsho/Giminez won't be back till end of July at the earliest and Santander still hasn't even resumed swinging yet. We'll be lucky to have him back for September I think. It's too bad cause we have a real tough stretch of games coming up till the end of the month, with SF/Yanks and then on the road to play the best team in baseball the Tigers. We need to keep our heads above water during this crucial stretch. I'd be happy with .500 ball, before our schedule gets lighter in August.
