  1. 2 out of 3 would be ideal, but realistically as long as we win at least 1 game in the Bronx were still is pretty good shape. Tonight's game is probably the most winnable with Gausman on the hill and the Yankees starting a rookie pitcher. I'll be satisfied with taking 1 game, as long as we don't get swept, were still in great shape to win the division.
  2. How can you say Vlad over Springer? Springer is literally ahead of Vlad in almost every meaningful category including avg, OPS, HRs,obp, slg
  3. How can you say Vlad over Springer? Springer is literally ahead of Vlad in almost every meaningful category including avg, OPS, HRs.
  4. Why are we burning another bullpen arm here. Plain and simple Hoffman blew it, there is 2 outs let him finish the inning, game is over at this point.
  5. Jays have a legitimate chance to have 4 qualified players finish the season with a .300+ avg. This would be a first in Jays history, even the powerhouse 93 team only had 3 hitters with .300+ avg albeit they finished 1,2,3 in batting avg in the AL that year. Current - Bichette .304, Vlad .297, Kirk .296, Springer. 293
  6. Jays basically need to play .500 ball the rest of the way to win the division. Having the tiebreaker against both the Yankees and Red Sox is huge. That being said we need to make sure we get the #1 or #2 seed to avoid playing in the WC round. As we all know we don't have a good history in WC games (1-6). Also playing a 3 game series is such a crap shoot.
  7. If I was Commish, I would do 4 divisions of 8 teams. (2 AL, 2 NL). Back to pre-90s expansion divisions. Play each team within division 8 times (2 x 4 games) each team in other division 6 times (2 x 3 games) each team in other league 3 or 4 times alternating home games between divisions each year like now (play 4 games vs NLE, 3 games vs NLW). This would create a more balanced schedule and make more 4 game series and less travel overall. 160 game season. Each League has 6 playoff teams (2 Division winners, 4 WC teams).4 Division winners get bye in WC round. WC and DS rounds are best of 5, AL/NL and WS best of 7. This puts more importance back on winning your division. AL East - Tor, Bos, NYY, Bal, TB, Det, Cle, CWS AL West - Sea, Port (new), LAA, Tex, Hou, KC, Ath, Min NL East - Phi, NYM, Was, Atl, Pit,Cin,Nash (new), Mia NL West - LAD, SD, Ari, SF, Col, Mil, Stl, CHC
  8. I wonder if we will see 4 divisions in each League or 2 Divisions. Having divisions of only 4 teams could lead to some really unbalanced divisions like we see in the NFL. I would prefer two divisions of 8 in each league like we used to have before expansion in the 90s.
  9. Bassett is the #5 starter at this point. We need Beiber up ASAP.
  10. That Vladdy hit would of been a HR in almost every other MLB park. Comerica Park is massive and to think they have brought the fences in twice compared to when the park opened.
  11. 3 out 4 would be Great, but like I'd be happy with a split here. We haven't been very good in the road this year, so a split would still be a good result against the Tigers. At this point we need to be fighting for a top 2 spot in the AL. Would be great to not have to play in the WC series. Best of 3 is such a crapshoot.
  12. Unfortunately looks like only Garcia might return by the weekend, Varsho/Giminez won't be back till end of July at the earliest and Santander still hasn't even resumed swinging yet. We'll be lucky to have him back for September I think. It's too bad cause we have a real tough stretch of games coming up till the end of the month, with SF/Yanks and then on the road to play the best team in baseball the Tigers. We need to keep our heads above water during this crucial stretch. I'd be happy with .500 ball, before our schedule gets lighter in August.
  13. I Would add the Red Sox to the bubble list as well. They are playing better lately but still in 4th place in the division.
  14. Degrom would give the Jays a true Ace pitcher, but his injury history is scary and he's 37, so even without getting injured, age regression is a big concern as well. I'd be willing to make a trade for him, but the Rangers would have to eat a chuck of his remaining contract. He's the kind of guy that could put us in serious WS contention but this trade could also backfire on us badly too. It's a risky scenario for sure.
  15. Unwritten rule, you don't bunt when your up 7-1? Good way to get your teammate a ball to the ribs.
  16. Why does this feel like game 2 of the 2022 Wild Card series
  17. Let's hope Springer is okay, we can't afford to be down both Bichette and Springer, that would be killer.
  18. Vladdy not in the lineup tonight. Any word on the status of his injury? I know Xrays were negative, hopefully this is just and extra days rest scenario and nothing serious.
  19. I hate the challenge system for plays like this, even though the Jays benefited, this is not in the spirit of the rule. Challenge replay really needs to be revamped. It was the same as the play a few weeks ago with Springer jumping on the base.
  20. When did Lukes suffer a concussion?
  21. If you would of told me that Santander would be batting under .200 with a negative 0.9 War, that Varsho would have only played 1/3 of the teams games due to injury and that Vladdy would be on pace for 19 HRs and our closer would have an ERA close to 6, I would tell you that we must be in last place in the AL east, not holding down the 1st WC spot. Being 7 games over .500 is really impressive considering our big guns have underperformed badly. A resurgent Kirk, Bichette and Springer have really carried this team and Barger's breakout has been a pleasant suprise. Bullpen no names like Little, Fluarety and Fisher have really come out of nowhere as well to give the Jays one of the best BPs after a disastrous 2024.
  22. Hoffman has to be the worst 17 Save closer ever at this point of the season. He's converted 17 of 20 save opportunities, yet had an ERA of 5.70 and even his FIP is over 4.00. That's absolutely terrible stats for a closer.
  23. This is one of those games the Jays team the last couple of years would of lost. Great battling back in both the 10th and 11th to pull out the win. Huge victory to get us over the .500 mark. Let's keep it rolling on this road trip and end the month of May on a high!
  24. Apparently he is day to day with a sore hip. Probably from too many swing and misses lol
  25. Why is Varsho out of the lineup again? He's Swinging a hot bat, need to keep him in the lineup, even as DH if they are still nursing his shoulder.
