With so many teams fighting for basically 1 WC spot, I think it's highly unlikely that 83 wins is enough. You have to expect that one of Cleveland, Texas or Baltimore will finish strong. I think 84 wins is likely the bare minimum to get in maybe even 85. We definitely have a decent shot and the schedule is in our favour but we literally can't take a single series off the rest of the way. The next 2 series against the Royals and As we need to win 4 of 6, preferably 5. Both those teams are basically out of it so they will be playing loose with no pressure on them. Baltimore we need to at least split those 6 games so we hold on to the tiebreaker, and then take 2 of 3 from Texas, Detroit and Cincy. That gets us to 84 wins and I think would be enough especially since we would hold the tiebreaker against both Cleveland and Baltimore in this scenario. Texas is honestly the team that scared me the most. They have a fairly easy schedule and hold the tiebreaker against us no matter what we do in that last series against them since they swept us 4-0 in June. I see that series as an absolute must win vs them. We aren't in the worst position but let's not kid ourselves, getting that last WC spot is still gonna be extremely tough. We basically have little to no margin for error and are gonna need one of the best September's in franchise history.

Everyone thought that Beiber was doing us a favour when he picked up his player option last year, but I think he knew he was damaged goods and that it would be revealed by other teams if he went after a long term deal. Beiber is washed I think unfortunately. Some guys are just never the same after TMJ.

This 9 game road trip before the allstar break is huge. We need to go on a run here to hopefully get close to .500 by the break. If not, we have to seriously consider trading all of our guys on expiring contracts and retool like we did at the 2024 deadline. Guys like Varsho, Beiber, Springer and Gausman should all be on the trade block. At this point the AL East title is basically a pipe dream and even a WC is getting further and further out of reach. Even if we somehow squeak into a WC spot it will be on the road and were likely 2 and done. Last year we got extremely lucky with very few injuries and things seemed to fall our way. Yes we've had alot of injuries this year but it's not even like we've been getting unlucky. Our expected W-L record is actually worse then our actual record. At this point being 5 games under past the halfway mark seems like a daunting task to even secure a WC spot. We have less then a 30% chance now to even make it. Honestly if we don't win all 3 road series before the break, it's time to go into hard sell mode and let the rookies see what they have.

Hoffman should of been pulled after it was made 5-3, problem is we didn't have anyone good to bring in, since Varland and Rogers had already pitched. That loss hurts!

We have the exact same record as we did after 52 games last season. We have alot of winnable games upcoming and now is the time to go on a run. Can't let the Rays/Yankees get out to far in front, the division is still winnable.

If Jays aren't .500 by the end of May I think it's time to start worrying. Yes we are only 1 game out of a WC spot but the division is slowly getting away from us. We're almost 1/3 of the way through the season. We can't keep saying it's early still.

Have a bad feeling that TJS is gonna be the result here. Losing Barger for the rest of this year and most of next year would be devastating

Can't believe they optioned Pinango over Schneider. Davis has been horrible for basically 2 years now. He's a career .210 hitter. I don't care how likeable he is as a person. He's a s***** MLB player, we lost Leo Jiminez cause management wouldn't send him down and now Pinango who literally did everything he could to stay with the Jays is being sent down, to keep a guy hitting .127. Unreal!

Heading to the game today, got tix in the new Rogers Terrace (old TD comfort zone) in 200L behind homeplate. $200/tix but includes unlimited food and non alcoholic drinks. Can't wait to check it out. Probably won't be this cheap again. 6 game losing streak combined with afternoon mid week game. These are going for $500+ for weekend games.

I like ABS but definitely think it needs to be tweaked. I think as it currently works it gives to big of an advantage to Pitchers. For it to be a strike I think at least half the ball needs to be in the zone.

The problem with check swings is that they are completely subjective. There is no defined definition of what a check swing is. The rule book states that it is an "attempt to strike at the ball". An attempt can be interpreted differently by every umpire. There is no such rule of the bat crossing the plane of the plate or the batter breaking their wrists. This rule needs black and white definition, like the strike zone has now with ABS.

Why don't we keep Rogers out there?
