    Well we are second in the league in doubles. We might not have home run power but that's something. It's probably the case that more line drives is better for most players. The fly ball revolution only worked for players that have a lot of power, IMO

    Personally I feel it's Halladay. I didn't want to be first to reply on my own thread. Yes, highest WAR as a Jay but it's not just that. It's how he made Jays games exciting for teams that just weren't exciting for his entire career. How he came back from being the worst pitcher in MLB to the best. And yea, the drug stuff. Well, I'm more forgiving. He did dumb things on painkillers but let's not forget he crippled himself for us, the fans. Only Halladay had the presence of mind to pitch through the kind of pain he suffered and still be elite. For me, it just adds to the narrative. Hopefully retired players get better help because of his legacy. The hat thing idk I think it's a nothing burger. He was inducted posthumously so we'll never know how much family played a role vs his own wishes.

    It's crazy we're now #1 in offense (tied with NY really in wRC/wOBA), and #1 in defense (easily). If our pitching wasn't so mediocre we could be 5 games up on every other team, 105 game pace or something like that

    I was watching a YouTube video where the author gives their opinion on each team's most loved player. Not necessarily the best, though it could be. For many franchises it's obvious. The Jays are one where I feel it's more debatable. So who do you think is the most loved Blue Jay of all time and why?

    There are too many fans on this board who would be happier if we were in last place than where we are now.

    Yea I don't really get it either tbh. They project similarly offensively for what it's worth. Sidegrade, maybe it's more injury depth? But he only plays 1B (2B/3B a long time ago) so it's not even much depth

    Roden still has potential I think. His minor league numbers were really good and he had some power. But he was pretty outmatched at the MLB level in his time on the Jays. Maybe another team can fix him Good trade for the Jays though. We desperately needed pitching and you aren't going to get something for nothing

    Can't complain. Pitching was our weak spot and we got 3 huge upgrades over what we had before

    Yea the closer role is pretty overrated these days. Little & Fisher are already much better than Hoffman. I guess it works out for us if we get a good reliever and use them in high leverage instead of as a closer

    Yea I've given up, a lot of cope around our pitching. It's not bad by any means but no one we have is elite.

    That's a bullpen you can feel good about. Not quite into elite territory, but very solid.

    Any upgrades are huge even if they're not elite players for the late playoffs. Winning the bye is the single biggest odds increaser

    Surprising we haven't called someone up from AA/AAA. I guess a trade is expected

    Yea, Francis and Green have killed us. Fun fact they have the lowest -WAR in the entire league (-0.9 and --0.7). I guess you could say the same of most teams but our depth seems especially bad

    He's been somewhat unlucky which WAR doesn't account for. Pure talent its been a 5-6 WAR pace.

    Yea the catcher was set up middle height and a little inside. Nowhere close

    Lol yea on average an index fund would return that in 10-12 years. Does make you wonder if by doing this if he was already in gambling trouble last year

    Maybe murder of like a superstar related to gambling. Suicide or some fringe player, society will shrug. I don't think its all that likely because players just make so much money now. They have an ability to repay that the average person just doesn't. Not saying it won't happen for sure. To play devil's advocate, gambling revenues are growing at absolutely bonkers rates year over year. Something will give with this Pandora's box within 5-10 years.

    Huh? We aren't going to win games where we give up 10 and 11 runs. I think a lot of fans perceptions get skewed simply because we haven't had a great pitching team in like forever. This years team is not good at pitching. We're 19th, not even close to average.
