  1. The cheapskate Orioles' spring training facilities are a damn joke
  2. Looking at Orelvis' batted ball numbers some more and for an extreme flyball hitter he definitely goes oppo more than others as well. You would think that's not great but after seeing his 400 foot oppo tater the other day maybe he can make that work?
  3. Barger is playing 3B again. If he could play passable defense there it would really raise his profile.
  4. His walk and K rate isn't great but I don't think it's too dire. I believe his main problem is his IFFB% is sky high. It was 20.7% last year in AAA and that would tie Paredes for highest in MLB. It really suppresses his BA. I don't know if that's something players can work on or not. You want him hitting a lot of flyballs, if he decreases his infield flies is he also decreasing his flyballs in general? That would just lead to less home runs. I guess the hope could be that he's young and as he ages you hope he just improves at squaring the ball up better?
  5. Wow! Hiney-man has better projections than I realized. In his limited time he does have some good defensive ratings. Would hate to watch him hit over an extended period of time though.
  6. Wouldn't we all be pretty happy?
  7. It's definitely going to be interesting on how teams strategize these ABS reviews. Do you prioritize your catchers who have a better view over your hitters and pitchers? Do you want to let your best hitters use them? And prevent your bad hitters from using them? Do you save them for late in the game? Or use them in important ABs like 2 outs and runners on base, even if its early? If guys like Vlad keep burning through them without any success do you take them away and give them to guys who are more successful in applying the rule? Or do you just let everyone use them but only do so if you are 100 percent sure? You just know the Rays are maximizing this crap and are going to steal a game from us down in Tampa this year because of it.
  8. I was hoping Scherzer could repeat his 2023 season for us. But what if he repeats his 2022 season for us instead?
  9. He'd be a great add over the turds we've got. He might add close to a WAR for 5 mil or so? The problem is that he's probably good enough to start close to 100 games. We've got a great Catcher already so he'd be looking at 40 games. So I think he'll probably look elsewhere.
  10. Pitchers should probably refrain from challenging strike calls when Kirk is catching. They are probably subject to his framing just like the umps are. Just let Kirk handle that.
  11. Oh hell yeah brother...Team Positive is getting the band back together
  12. I know it's early, but this team looks incredible so far 3-0
  13. That combination sounds like baseball hell
  14. Kirk has been tattooing the ball so far this spring
  15. Vlad will probably use them up in his first AB
  16. I listened to it a few days ago. One of the two was more on Vlad's side the other was more on the team's side but neither really disagreed a whole lot. They get into a good 5 minute discussion about how letting him hit FA might actually be the best way to agree on a contract though of course it's not guaranteed.
  17. Yeah that's a good listen. Much better takes than what the US national media is pushing.
  18. At that point just throw in another 5 years for 50 to 100 million to lower the tax hit.
  19. To be fair to OP, Zips just cooked the franchise on Fangraphs today. But if you dive into the actual article, he says that his own projections system wouldn't even have offered Vlad the supposed $340 mil that the Jays already offered. So I guess he doesn't trust his own numbers?
  20. Yeah I'm pretty skeptical that it's actually 97-98. But even if he can sit at 95 that would be a boost to his profile when he was sitting at 93-94 last year.
  21. Vlad could stand in the middle of Yonge Street and shoot somebody, and he wouldn't lose any of his supporters who would still find a way to blame Ross Atkins
  22. Not so fast my friend! I would have brought in new leadership but by giving them another year Shatkins has another chance to stick around and make this work. If a couple of Buffalo Boys surprise, the pitching remains healthy-ish, and we get big walk years from Vlad and Bo (all of which is very possible), this team could make some noise.
