  1. Holy smokes 😲
  2. Yeah that's a lot of money for Estevez. The Hoffman deal looks like a steal as does the Yimi Garcia deal. Atkins was smart to jump the market on the latter. Yimi has more injury concerns but he's a lot better than Estevez and he's only getting paid less than 2/3 of what Estevez is getting.
  3. I'm sure the Giants are eating some money but the Reds are making some moves and spending some money. Signed Tito to manage Brought back Nick Martinez on the QO Traded for Gavin Lux Traded for Jose Trevino Signed Austin Hays Traded for Brady Singer Brought back Brent Suter Traded for Taylor Rogers
  4. He makes a ton of sense and would vault this team into a AL East contender. Houston has natural advantages over us, of course. So we probably have to beat their offer by a good bit. Nightengale says 6 for 180 makes him think but with no state income tax and it being the only team he's played for it might take 7 years which starts to get pretty damn scary if you map it out. Age 31: 4 WAR Age 32: 3.5 3 2.5 2 1.5 Age 37: 1
  5. I bet the Jays could get Arraez and Suarez (didn't realize he can opt out after this year) both in a salary dump. Maybe throw them a Buffalo Boy or two and I bet the Padres would even eat some salary. Or even move Straw to them as a way to dump salary. Their depth is so bad they could use him and even guys like Schneider and Lukes. Those 3 for Arraez and Suarez would save them 16-17 million bucks which they could use to turn around and sign JDM and Quintana or something. The only problem is Arraez even an upgrade over Will Wagner?
  6. Not even a rumor about Bregman makes me think we aren't even trying on him Alonso starting to seem more unlikely too I bet we pull off a trade
  7. Yeah you are probably right. My guess is the Padres would eat some of Arraez's deal OR they would throw in a reliever who has some surplus value to make it worth it. Or maybe even both. Arraez would be fun to have, though he's probably not a very shrewd addition.
  8. “Toronto has been hot for him for about two months,” one source said. “[The Blue Jays] certainly feel like the favorites to get him.”
  9. Yeah we could get Arraez for nothing more than a salary dump. They've got some good relievers we could tack on as well. He doesn't have the power we need, but it would be fun to have the batting champ on the roster.
  10. Nice luxury to have a well written article on such a small move like this but as Jays diehards it's much appreciated
  11. So long as the price is right I'd love to get him. Maybe not a huge improvement over Clement but he's an improvement nonetheless and Clement can become the UT infielder. Then when Bo leaves Kim and Gimenez can play the middle infield.
  12. I don't trust these kind of guys after Jordan Hicks last year. Even if they seemingly click early on in 4-5 inning stints as a starter, they've got a looooong way to go with maintaining their stuff, dealing with any innings caps, and avoiding injury.
  13. Look at Nick Pivetta just sitting there begging to be signed. He and DeGrom are the only two starters in the Top 20.
  14. Yeah often referred to as a "cut fastball" right? My bad. So he could just go cutter/slider? Based on his Stuff+ he'd be a Top 20 reliever if that was a viable combo.
  15. Can a pitcher simply not throw a fastball at all? Is that a thing?
  16. They forgot Vlad to 3B
  17. He's probably glad to get back to the org. He was tracking to be a big league pitcher in some capacity and had a bad 2024. I'm sure you're right in that he's got some 40-man requirement of some sort but that won't be too difficult to accommodate if we have until the end of ST. Hopefully he bounces back and is a depth starter for the next couple of years while he has options.
  18. So he has options, I assume he will need to be added to the 40-man in order for us to keep him this year? Could be decent depth if we get until the end of ST to add him.
  19. That's a great landing spot for him. He's probably a starter for what should be a competitive team and he gets to try and rebuild his value in the best hitter's park this side of Coors Field. Maybe he took a small discount.
  20. Yeah idk. We are hearing Alonso and Scherzer rumors. Not sure how true those are but Gray's 25 million could be a fit along those same lines but we would probably have to kiss Alonso goodbye?
  21. One guy worth keeping an eye on in the bullpen is Tommy Nance. He had a Stuff+ of 134 last year which was 14th in all of baseball. His Location+ was 98. For comparison's sake, Jason Adam who has been great had a Stuff+ of 129 and Location+ of 98 last year. I guess Nance's problem is that his fastball sucks? Might be one of the worst in baseball but his Cutter might be one of the best pitches in baseball too?
  22. They have a ton of guys we would be interested in. Not sure they want to move the cheaper guys but Sonny Gray, Helsley, Arenado (he won't waive his no trade clause to come here because he's an avowed xenophobe), etc. could all be had. Sonny Gray would be a great target.
