    Wow I let up on the Jose "Urethra" comments (which got zero likes btw) for just 5 minutes and I'm getting tarred and feathered for it You people are impossible to please

    I can only assume that Ross Atkins will be all over this after Urethra gets lit up tonight

    Urena could be okay tonight. He's okay against righties and the Angels, who are bad as it is, only have one decent left-handed hitter in Schanuel. Urena is a groundball pitcher who can't strike anyone out so maybe he will play up a little with our back-to-back Team Gold Glove defense behind him?

    Richards was an interesting pitcher for us. Every year he'd go on one of those runs where he would be a 3 inning pitcher and would look pretty unhittable. Then toward the end of the year he would completely suck. I could see the Jays signing him after Urethra gets blown up tonight.

    Urethra vs. Anderson Berrios vs. Kikuchi Bassitt vs. Soriano First time we've faced a bottom feeder team all season unless you count the Nats. So it's basically a must win series and we've got Jose Urethra on the hill for Game 1 tonight. 😐

    The Rangers winning the World Series on the strength of their lineup only to end up firing that same hitting coach 18 months later is more proof that anyone can win if you simply get in to the playoffs.

    Yeah Green and Y-Rod don't look very good. If Lauer flames out, and that could happen any appearance for him, I could see him getting dumped and Walker coming back up.

    Yeah I think best case scenario both guys would return around then anyway.

    Agreed but with Little, Fluharty and Lauer already in the pen they opted for the righty instead.

    Yeah the Lawrence's and Lauer's and Urena's are all discardable. That can change if they pitch well but I highly doubt Urena lasts the year on the team. They seem to be making this a bigger deal than the Lawrence pickup though. Not sure that means anything though.

    The earliest Scherzer can come back is May 29 and Swanson can come back May 26.

    Yeah the sooner the better. Not only do we have an open 5th spot but Francis looks like a gas can. Turnbull is a pretty fragile guy though. Hopefully he can get up to speed quickly but I wonder if they'll be careful with him.

    On a positive note, Josh Walker is looking pretty good in his SSS so far this year 5 innings, 8 KS, 2 BBs and a 1.66 FIP. Getting BABIP'd but otherwise looks good.

    I wonder what the plan is for the pitching staff with the Turnbull and Urena signings. Do both need to be added to the 40 man right away? Urena is ready to go so I would expect him to be available for the Angels game on Tuesday as it's a bullpen game. Turnbull will need some time in the minors after not having a spring training. My guess is he's not ready until the beginning of June. Does he need to be added to the 40-man right away?

    Gaddis was not pitching well to start that inning and Schneider bailed him out by putting the path to 3 outs on a platter for him. "Here's one out with a bunt and then go ahead and face one of the worst hitters in baseball to try and get the 2nd." -John Schneider being dumb as hell But even if Straw does cash the runner with a sacy fly, we end the inning and possibly game tied anyway! At best you're playing for a stupid 50-50 extra innings situation Need to go for hits there to try and get a lead and a win

    Other than the standard off day for Kirk this is our best 9 in terms of offense

    Digging the Turnbull signing. That’s about as good of an add as you can make in early May. Jose Urethra kind of sucks but he was averaging 97 on his fastball in his lone appearance this year. I’d rather try that out instead of 87 from Casey Lawrence.

    Ross Atkins' bullpens apparently alternate each year between the worst bullpen you've ever seen in your entire life to the best, and there is never anything in between

    He's hitting the ball hard but not much to show for it right now. I'd like to see them play him at 3B some more with Roden being sent down and Lukes/Straw playing in LF.
