  1. I agree on the Mets. I'll believe they let him walk on a 3 year deal when I see it. That said, Alonso and Vlad aren't all that comparable. They both play 1B but Vlad is a 25 year old projecting for 5 WAR a season. Alonso is a 30 year old projecting for 2.5 WAR. The higher a player's WAR, the more of a premium you can expect to pay. Getting all that WAR wrapped up in one roster spot is huge and teams pay extra for it.
  2. https://www.fangraphs.com/roster-resource/breakdowns/payroll We are 5th right now and still adding. Our '26 through '28 commitments are in line or lower than the other teams grouped around us.
  3. We run a top 5 payroll and have very little long term money on the books
  4. Yeah Vlad has generational tools in that he hits the piss out of the ball so you can always hope for video game numbers too Pete doesn't actually have great exit velos, he just pulls it and has a good launch angle
  5. How do you defer a signing bonus lol It's not even a signing bonus at that point
  6. 13.7 AAV is nuts. That's almost half of what people thought he would get.
  7. I'll put it this way, his Batting Average is below the Mendoza Line
  8. Our old friend Hector is getting in on the action now
  9. Do other fanbases deal with the pure insanity of rumors like we do? There has got to be more ******** rumors flying around this franchise than any other.
  10. Doug has got the goods. The Polar Bear and Mad Max are Jays.
  11. Which starting pitchers would fit best on Blue Jays? Nick Ashbourne https://www.sportsnet.ca/mlb/article/which-starting-pitchers-would-fit-best-on-blue-jays/
  12. Yeah is Cohen really going to let a fan favorite leave over a three year deal?
  13. Does Yariel have late inning potential? If so, we could move him up the ladder by acquiring a guy like Avila
  14. Lots of buzz on Twitter about a Pete Alonso signing happening today
  15. Yeah they both suck. If the Hiney-man is a godlike framer than he would get the call. Otherwise I think I'd go with Bethancourt. He has some tools including a cannon for an arm and he has some solid Max EV, meaning he can park a mistake into the seats once in a while. He'd be the better pinch runner for Kirk too for whatever that is worth. Hiney-man is a slap hitter with EVs similar to that of a woman's softball player so he's probably the third C to me.
  16. How would you guys rank the Dodgers relievers? I'm in a dynasty league that has a SV+HLD/2 category (saves are worth 1 and holds are worth 0.5) so elite setup men can be as good as closers. I have Evan Phillips and Kirby Yates. Phillips is a little expensive so I'm dropping him. Yates is cheap so I might hang on to him. Seems like he might be the 1B closer along with the lefty Scott?
  17. Yeah Miggy put up 5.3 WAR in his age 33 season and then he hit a WALL. He had negative WAR from age 34-40. Pujols was playable from age 33-36 before hitting the wall and then had the deadcat bounce in his age 42 season.
  18. That Pete Alonso to the Jays tweet from Passan is going to hit like crack
  19. One of the annoying things about this team is that we are somehow the best defensive team but also the worst (or close to it) base running team. Very difficult to pull that off it would seem. Hopefully we are better this year.
  20. My guesses: Bethancourt will be the backup C Dick Lovelady is probably just a spring arm with a chance to make the team if we have an injury.
