  1. When the Rays were losing they disappeared for a long period of time. The Jays started to s*** the bed and the Rays started playing better and they came back.
  2. My guess is that the Dodgers hired Friedman in part because they want to drastically cut payroll. Rather than being around 250 they'll try to get under 200.
  3. You fanboys are weird.
  4. So do all the Rays fanboys become Dodgers fanboys now?
  5. I agree. Pillar sucks. He's a replacement level org guy if you ask me.
  6. According to that fangraphs article it is 1000.
  7. 1. So? We will all be old soon. 2. What are you? A fashion critic? 3. That's AA's fault, not RA's. 4. I don't really recall them playing it up. He wrote and sold a book and in promoting it there was a lot of talk about it but other than that I hear more about his childhood story from this board than anywhere else. 5. lol ok
  8. How is he incredibly arrogant? Do you have any examples? Even if he is arrogant, why does that matter? I never get why anyone cares how these guys act.
  9. Why does everyone on this board hate him so much?
  10. What else was he supposed to do? (Other than losing 40 lbs. and becoming faster)
  11. There are some SS's on the market (Jed Lowrie, JJ Hardy) that could help if we'd consider moving Reyes to 2B or the OF. Asdrubal Cabrera could be an option at 2B if we want to keep Lawrie at 3B.
  12. Attendance is down? I thought we had a bunch of sellouts and it was up.
  13. As always it depends on the numbers but resigning Melky right now would be buying high to say the least. I don't like his skillset going forward either b/c if that bat is even league average (being on the wrong side of 30 with mediocre walk rates and middling power it could happen) his value craters because he is so god awful on defense. Plus, there are a number of corner OF options in FA.
  14. I could definitely see him signing a 1 year deal but I do agree with your sentiment about him resigning to play in Toronto.
  15. Kind of like when Francisco Cordero had an xFIP of 4.14 but an ERA of 2.45 and was given 4.5 Million for his age 37 season?
  16. It all depends on the contract but his defense is so piss poor (to go along with a mediocre walk rate and power) that it really drags his value down. If he wants too much I'd easily let him walk too.
  17. Not a bad plan at all although I'm not sure how that would mesh with having a backup CF.
  18. When I lived in Portland I would go up and go to these games. They were a lot of fun.
  19. Lol I cannot figure that trade out. At all.
  20. Yep. Then when they moved him to CL they made a big push on how that would allow him to shine. The marketing department really tried hard in pushing him for some reason lol.
  21. Geezus he even threw money in to that deal? lol I remember how bad Person was. They tried him out as a starter and he was horrid. Then they made him the CL the following season and that lasted about a week. Then they dumped him to the Phillies for someone (I can't remember) and Person actually had a decent season or two. haha
  22. So bad. When he did these deals he would take a good or even great player (whether it be Clemens, Green, Wells, etc.) and rather than trading them for young, cheap prospects he would deal them for similar, yet inferior players. Clemens for Wells and Homer Bush, Green for Mondesi, etc. It just made no sense.
  23. A lot of that was ownership's fault too. Ash made some solid draft picks (Halladay being one of them), as well as some good (and some bad) FA signings, but his trades were god awful. David Wells for Mike Sirotka, Michael Young for Esteban Loiaza, Shawn Green for Raul Mondesi, the Clemens trade was pretty bad, trading Olerud, etc. And it was like they were perpetually buyers only to switch to sellers (as Ash himself stated above) although that probably had something to do with ownership at the time.
