  1. It's projected. If it was present they'd all be on the big league team and they'd be some of our best players.
  2. I never thought of ground pork. I rarely make this stuff, too many calories and carbs. But if I do I'll buy the top shelf stuff.
  3. Yeah I forgot that step.
  4. Yeah the beef does complicate things. You kind of have to buy it the same day you use it and going to the grocery store sucks. Throwing some mushrooms in there sounds like a good idea though.
  5. Umm idk, you could take whatever spatula type tool that you have and press down on the beef at times. 15 minutes seems like it would be black at that point though.
  6. True you don't need it but I like to have some protein to go with all those carbs. And if you're eating s*** boxed noodles and s*** Prego sauce what will it hurt?
  7. I can't cook for s*** but spaghetti is so damn easy even I can do it. Some real chef here might laugh at this advice but take it from a bachelor who can't cook that this is what needs to happen: Noodles: Boil some water in a pot on the stove. Throw a box of pasta in there. Add a pinch of salt. I don't know why but my mom told me to do it. The box of noodles will tell you how long it takes. Usually around 8 minutes or so. If you want you can pull a noodle out and try it, if it's too hard it needs more time. Be careful to not burn yourself though so run the test noodle under some cold water first. Also, stir the noodles a little bit bc if they reach the bottom of the pot and stay there they can get burnt. When the noodles are done to your liking take the pot and dump it all in a strainer which you have put in the sink. Once you are satisfied that the water is gone, you can dish the noodles on to plates. Sauce: Buy some ground beef and throw it in a pan. You might want to spray the pan first with some vegetable oil or something. When the meat has minimum pink left (I prefer no pink but you don't want it to burn), throw a jar of spaghetti sauce in there. Once the meat is cooked just turn the heat down so you don't burn the sauce. You merely need to keep it warm. Stir it up. Now when the noodles and sauce are both done (ideally you finish them both within a couple of minutes so start the noodles then work on the sauce) you put the noodles on a plate and then put the sauce over the noodles. It's really easy, trust me. Now further to that if you want a real treat you can get a loaf of those premade garlic breads. You just throw those in the stove and follow the directions but they are delicious with your spaghetti. If you are having a lady over make sure to buy a bottle of wine. That's it. If you have any questions just ask.
  8. Big catchers are better because every time Salvador Perez is behind the plate and takes one off the mask the announcers tell me they are.
  9. Yeah you're probably right. Would cause way too much blowback drama for the mods here. Nevermind. It's a pretty horrible forum though.
  10. We should start trolling that sub. The AMA would be a good time to start.
  11. I don't know anyone who likes hockey down here other than the occasional casual fan. I catch the odd Avs game but have never seen one. I saw one almost fight and everyone went nuts, casual fans were on their feet begging for it to happen. lol I don't know if fighting is good or not for the game but casual fans go nuts for it.
  12. I wonder what 2017 numbers would be. NFL might have slipped some the past two years.
  13. Yeah football is much more reliant on fan participation too. Everyone screaming while your team is on defense can and does have an actual effect on the outcome. Each game means a hell of a lot more too. You lose even 2 games in a row and your playoff chances take a big hit. You lose 2 in a row in baseball and it doesn't even matter. So showing up and cheering in football is actually meaningful because it can help and because its more incentivized because each game means a lot more. And like you said, Tailgating (Which is a BBQ where you eat good food and get tanked before the game) is something people do even without football involved. That helps make it more fun too.
  14. A runner on 2nd base starting with the 12th inning of a regular season game isn't going to hurt anything. Those 15+ inning games can be brutal. But I don't know how it helps either. Perhaps it creates a little bit of buzz for MLB?
  15. I wouldn't mind that. Once your team is out of it there are so many pointless games to be played. But still, is shaving 8 games off of 162 even noticeable?
  16. College basketball is the worst popular sport in North America during the regular season. Then in March it turns in to the best. Average it out and it's kind of meh.
  17. Lol that's a great point. Turn on any NFL game it will largely remain competitive up (even if not close) until the end. College football has some really bad blowouts.
  18. So what NHL is 4 and NASCAR is 5? What about the PGA and MLS? I suppose there is UFC, Boxing and Tennis too. Would be interesting to see these polls. I'm going to look for some.
  19. I love football but I think I watched dozens of NCAA Football games this year and probably only parts of a handful of NFL games and that includes the Super Bowl. NCAA Football is a way better game. You have teams that run the ball 90% of the time like the service academies and teams that throw the ball 70% of the time like Washington State. In the NFL, every single team runs basically the same offense with a deviation of only 15% between percentage of run/pass plays. There are also big cultural and traditional differences between NCAA teams. In the NFL, few teams have any discernible culture, the Raiders probably being the best example but that's not exactly a good cultural model for a fanbase. The majority of teams you could swap fanbases and jerseys and not even know the different. There's also 50+ games every weekend for NCAA compared to 15 for the NFL. There's more to pick and choose from. That's not to say that the NCAA runs a completely commercial free setup but it is better than the NFL. And I agree with you, the NBA isn't bad on TV at all. Takes the right team though with the right star players but the game will be fun to watch. The problem is that the games are pretty much pointless until the postseason and frankly there are only a handful of teams who could actually win it anyway. Getting to the playoffs isn't a big deal so truth is 90% of the games are pretty much meaningless. And then even the top teams merely try to coast through regular season in order to make it to the playoffs fully rested and without injury.
  20. Gotcha. Well it does make sense based upon my gut feeling and I believe I saw a similar poll but a long time ago. 1. NFL 2a. NCAA Football 2b. MLB 3. NBA At times it seems like the NBA is bigger than MLB. It seems to get more national press. I have a ton of friends who don't give a s*** about the NBA though.
  21. I thought he might get claimed by someone. He's got some upside with his power. But when Chris Carter is going for 3 million and Pedro Alvarez will get even less there is no point in locking in to Park for that long.
  22. Ok cool, thanks. I didn't know they were doing that.
  23. Nope. No sarcasm. Can you explain those pictures? I see two clocks with 18 and 16 seconds on them.
  24. If they want to improve pace of play I think they could perhaps start some program in the minors where they encourage pitchers to speed up the amount of time between pitches and encourage hitters to stay in the box. Then after this has had some time to settle in, say 10 years down the road or something, they could put a timer on pitchers and perhaps not allow batters to leave the box. It's unfair to expect veterans who have longstanding routines to start doing something different. But I wouldn't even do that. Frankly it's all a bunch of BS to me. I like the game and don't really care if casual fans lose interest and the sport slips to 3rd or 4th most popular in the US. The game is slow to develop between plays and that's just the way it is. Without changing the game play maybe they could give each manager 3 timeouts to be used for mound visits by the Catcher, pitching coach or manager (pitching changes aren't time outs). If you lose a replay challenge you lose a timeout. I think creating better ballpark experiences and finding a way to promote its stars better should be a focus rather than pace of play. Moving to Under Armor was a nice little step. I like that they are getting more buzz for the draft now, that needs to continue. I think the All-Star Futures Game format could be changed to make it a Rookie big leaguers vs. Minor leaguers. Or maybe they just leave the Futures Game the way it is and have a Rookies vs. Sophomores game like the NBA does.
