  1. People are way too harsh on Little. It's fair to question if he should be pitching in the 8th inning protecting small leads. But the "He's been bad since X date" numbers are all arbitrary BS. I can play the "since X Date" game too and he's had a 1.86 ERA since September 3. I'd move him down the pecking order but if he finds his release point he could come up huge for us.
  2. Yeah that's what I would do. Might want to go with a 5 man bench to keep IKF and an 8 man bullpen too. I suppose they could drop Loperfido though to keep a 4-man bench.
  3. Bassitt actually looked pretty good out of the pen didn't he lol His fastball was 3 mph faster and had some tail to it That was a crafty move by Schneids
  4. Yeah the offense is scary too but it feels like it's manageable if we pitch well, particularly the back half which consists of Edman, Kike Hernandez, and Pages. If you just kind of eyeball it, it seems like the Yanks and M's lineup are comparable. The Yankees had a higher wRC+ on the season and the Mariners tied with them so that tracks.
  5. I wonder what the plan is for Bo. Might see a 5-man bench with IKF. Some of our relievers don't even make an appearance.
  6. We can beat these guys. The Yankees and Mariners have good rotations and we hammered them. Dodgers bullpen isn't great either. We will be underdogs but I'm seeing -180 right now. That's doable.
  7. I think it's as simple as the Mariners having a lot of high-velo RHP and Davis has shown that he simply cannot hit that stuff. IKF isn't great against high-velo RHP either but he does produce pretty good BAs against it so the hope is he puts the ball in play and can either get you productive outs or a couple of base hits. He's a better fielder and baserunner as well.
  8. This wait is agonizing 4 more hours to go and it feels like it's going to take 40 days until the game starts
  9. Fangraphs has it 52%-48% in favor of the Mariners. Vegas has the Jays as a -135 favorite. Game 7 of the ALCS and this is as close of a matchup as it gets.
  10. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/vladimir-guerrero-jr-s-postseason-for-the-ages/ Vladdy is having one of the greatest postseasons of all-time
  11. Bieber seems to have great vetrin presents which will serve him well tonight. Backs against the wall in Game 3 and he's got 10s of millions on the line in Free Agency. He gave up that early bomb and he comes back into the dugout telling everyone to score some runs because he's going to shut them down from then on. There are plenty more factors than having balls of steel, but in Game 7 that's not going to hurt.
  12. I can't eat, can't sleep, and have extreme anxiety. I close my office door and sit here with the lights off until it's time to head home to watch the games. My boss thinks I have a drug problem.
  13. 2 innings of Munoz definitely looms large in this game and you're right to question Woo. He's only thrown 2 innings since September 19 so it's hard to know what to expect out of him. Hopefully we can threaten Kirby early, they pull him quickly in a big spot for Woo and he blows up due to rust and inexperience.
  14. No that’s absurd. Just because we win 10-1 doesn’t mean we can’t also win 2-1. I guess you stumbled into something somewhat accurate with the bolded part in that the team has a deep bullpen but it doesn’t necessarily have an elite lockdown guy. Varland, Hoffman, SerAnthony and even Little have shown that ability on occasion but they haven’t done it consistently.
  15. Yeah if you are THAT worried about looks then you wouldn’t have used Hoffman last night
  16. Yeah Varland has the stuff that he's just kind of our de facto fireman, whether he deserves it or not. He would have been the best pick there but they had already used him by that point.
  17. Feels like Dan Wilson has been downright horrible but has been bailed out by a couple of 350 foot homers leaving the park. Using Brash in the 5th inning against the 8-9 hitters was nuts.
  18. Yeah they should have been moving him up the food chain all year to get him some high leverage experience. Instead, they actually optioned him in late August.
  19. This isn't really true. His July and August were pretty mid but he was good in September and been fine in the playoffs prior to this. Sometimes it looks UGLY because of the walks and pitches that aren't competitive. But he Ks a lot of guys while being an extreme GB pitcher. If you walk a lot of guys you can make that work if you K a lot and are a GB unicorn. Unfortunately, Cal tagged him with a 348 foot homer. That said, I do wonder if someone like him might play down in the playoffs though. Not a ton of velocity and batters are locked in and may do a better job of laying off his junk.
  20. It's kind of weird because the board has been hating on Hoffman for months. Schneider rides him like he's Mariano Rivera anyway. All the sudden Schneider stops using him like Rivera and it blows up in his face. Now the board is mad at him. SHOULD HAVE STUCK TO YOUR GUNS JOHN
  21. I don't like the move to Little but I am curious as to who you think was the slam dunk choice there?
  22. Yeah and SerAnthony came in and gave up a homer too. I guess we should have gone with Hoffman? Surely he wouldn't have given up a homer (he actually lead the league).
  23. Yeah I think facing Cal in a 1 run game loomed really large on this decision. It's definitely a peculiar decision to go to Little but: Hoffman (most relief homers in baseball) vs. Cal (60+ bombs) in a 1 run game is scary SerAnthony is really bad vs. lefties and would have had to have gone against 3 lefties in a row Little has been slightly better in September and the playoffs and for all of his faults, he generally doesn't give up homers. He's also equally effective against lefties and righties. So the hope I guess is to put him in there and even though he might walk someone, you'd think he can at least keep the ball in the park and hand the ball over to SerAnthony or Hoffman once they get past Naylor. Instead, Cal hit a 348 foot homer, Little walked two guys, and then Suarez hit a 351 foot grand slam off SerAnthony. (The previous inning Clement and Straw hit 363 and 376 foot fly outs.)
