  1. I remember K-Rod's debut well. I was a freshman in college in California and drove to the WS and was at the game where David Bell tagged him for a 2-run single to take the lead. First time anyone put a dent in him I believe.
  2. If Myles Straw uses the power of friendship to entice his buddy Kyle Tucker to sign with the Blue Jays, not only is he not going anywhere but he can bat leadoff on Sundays for all I care
  3. Announce the Tucker to Toronto signing you cowards
  4. He'll understand he's a team player
  5. The team vibes will sweep him up in a wave of male friendship and camaraderie he’s never experienced before, and it’ll help him take his game to the next level
  6. If we don't get Tucker or Bo I say we pivot to Framber. Put his 3.7 WAR in the rotation over Ponce's 1.6, and it's as big of an improvement as signing Tucker or Bo and it's a fraction of the cost. Fight me
  7. The stove is piping hot this morning
  8. Oh god here we go again
  9. Yeah you'd like to see them keep improving the team. I think we might have the highest projections but the Yankees are right there. The problem is the team is so damn deep that you have to add a pretty significant player at this point to make an improvement over what we've got. This goes for the lineup, rotation and bullpen. Tucker is the easiest and most obvious way to do that.
  10. If we don't get Tucker or Bo we could always go the trade route too. Though trades are a lot harder to come up with since we don't know who is actually available or not.
  11. The Bregman deal changed things for these FAs. He's entering his age 32 season and just got 5/155M. If Tucker signs for 3/150, that allows him to enter FA again as a 32 year old where he probably thinks he can get a Bregman deal. That would put the total at 8 for 305M. A straight up 8 for 305 from the Jays is obviously worth more than the 3/150 + hypothetical Bregman deal after. But if the Mets are throwing in opt outs that makes the 3/150 even more enticing. No matter how you slice it, it's going to take a massive offer to beat 3/150
  12. 3/150 with opt outs is going to take a massive offer to beat
  13. Yeah something like 9 years, 320 million might get him. TO is a better fit than NY and the Mets. Still, 9/320M is a giant commitment and it's hard to say if the Jays want to give him that after all the money they've doled out this year. It seems like they would given their previous high profile pursuits, but they may have fallen in love with Okamoto and feel like that's enough for now.
  14. Okay if the Cards are paying that much of his salary then it makes a lot more sense
  15. He looks completely washed. His fielding is still solid but his bat looks atrocious. Pathetic exit velos to pair with a high launch angle. He already has a really high Pull AIR% so I don't think he can sell out for more power. His K rate is super low so maybe he can spread his hits around more? But then you've got a 3B with single digit homers...
  16. This Bregman Yeah this is peak front office mismanagement. Of course Bregman wanted a no trade clause after watching the Red Sox ship out Betts and Devers. And Boston refusing to give him one just reinforces their reputation as a team wants the ability to trade star players on a whim. Now they've dug themselves into a hole, any free agent worth a damn is going to point to this and ask for an NTC. And if/when the Sox refuse, it just means they’ll have to pay extra to get guys to sign with them. But they aren't a team that pays a premium so they'll probably continue to get outbid.
  17. Tucker seemingly moves the needle a lot more than Bo does. Projects a little better but he also supplants a 2 WAR player instead of a 3 WAR player.
  18. They hate Springer because the Astros beat the Dodgers in the WS and they all think it shouldn't count. Betts was on the Red Sox team that won the WS against the Dodgers and he admitted that the team cheated and their video coordinator was also suspended for a whole season. But no one talks about that one, they only want to boo former Astros.
  19. The greatest irony of them all is Dodgers fans booing Springer when Mookie Betts is on their team
  20. If Tucker signs elsewhere and the Bo sweepstakes comes down to either us or the Red Sox I think you'd have to like our chances given how the Red Sox have been operating the past few years
  21. He lost 20 pounds and is in the best shape of his life
  22. It's also hilarious to see this all unfold for the Sox. Extend Devers Bring in Bregman for a year, trade Devers in the 2nd year of his extension Narrowly lose the FA bidding war for Bregman to the Cubs (aka the Red Sox of the NL) Now have a giant hole in their infield and the middle of the lineup
