  1. Ok, deep down I know LA probably makes more sense. They are the favorite for a reason. But out of all the other teams in the league, many of which you could make the same friggin arguments on why LA should win out over TO, we have made it this far. There has to be some reasons for that. Money is obviously a huge factor. But there are other considerations in play as well that I think TO can sell him on. If he was taking your guys' advice this would be over already. He'd have chosen LA already so they can get on with their offseason to build a title contender around him. But he hasn't and as shocking as you might find that to be he probably has some good reasons on why TO might be the better choice.
  2. It could be ok if they make some splashy moves on top of it. If they get Soto then Judge is the CFer and that doesn't seem ideal? Or maybe give Bellinger 200 mil to play CF?
  3. No clue why winter weather will play a factor as he won't even be here and he'll have a dome for whenever the weather does get bad. Nor do I think helicoptering in from Malibu is even feasible, let alone convenient. I just can't with you guys tonight, sorry.
  4. Lol the Yankees need a serious infusion of talent and they go out and acquire a slap hitting corner outfielder. Good jobs guys.
  5. Yeah it doesn't matter. Even if he's 39 years old and he's pumping out 1 WAR a year for 50 mil who cares. I'll cheer like hell for him and when he goes into the HoF with a Jays cap on it will be worth it. Even if his contact somehow becomes an albatross for the final 5 years of his deal.
  6. He doesn't need to live more freely. He's not out partying or eating out all the time. The guy lives and breaths baseball. What he needs is convenience and on that front Toronto >>>>> LA. The Jays could just give Ohtani his own penthouse hotel room at the Marriot in Rogers Centre. He wouldn't even have to leave. Just sleep, eat, practice and play baseball. And if the penthouse isn't up to snuff right now I'm sure it could be by April. Or find one within a block from the stadium. In LA he'll be spending half his free time fighting traffic to get to the game. West Coast teams also have to travel A LOT more during the season than East coast teams. So for the few flights to Japan that he takes each year, LA more than makes up for it by having to travel so much during the year. Check out this map. Toronto is perfectly centered in the middle of a 16 team cluster. LA is in the middle of a 6 team cluster.
  7. I don't know how much prospect capital it would actually take. Soto is damn good but he's projected to get 30 million in arbitration. Kim is also good but a lot of his value is tied up in defense and that tends to hold less weight in the market. I know this site isn't the end all be all but...
  8. Kim makes sense for both sides. He's good but he's only got 1 year left so I doubt he's untouchable for the Padres. On top of it they could slide Cronenworth over to 2B and then sign a cheap 1B with some pop like Votto, Justin Turner, etc. Or maybe take Horowitz back in a deal.
  9. Lol what a garbage take. Buster upset that the poor MLB insiders are getting left out in the cold.
  10. I think there might be a little bit of a difference between Rob Longley's anonymous source offering an obvious and vague quote in a Toronto Sun article and Dave Roberts blurting out to the whole world that they did meet with him, when they met with him, how long they met with him, how the meeting went and then opining on Ohtani's ultimate decision. For the latter, the Dodgers GM had to rush out of his hotel room and do damage control. I doubt Ross needs to even address the Toronto Sun article.
  11. I don't make the rules pal. That is coming straight from Ohtani's camp. Dodgers are officially OUT.
  12. Well the one good thing about having a lapdog as your manager like John Schneider is that when the GM tells him not to talk about Ohtani he won't talk about Ohtani. He might say all sorts of stupid s***. He might even make dumb playoff moves that he thinks the GM wants him to make. But he won't talk about Ohtani. So at least there's that.
  13. Sorry bud, I don't make the ground rules that was Ohtani and his team and the Dodgers broke it. They are officially OUT.
  14. Wow, high praise from Mark Elias (the greatest GM since the late Branch Rickey).
  15. The Dodgers can't even abide by the simple rule of "please don't discuss the FA process with the media." Imagine what it will be like for Ohtani when he joins that rat race in LA. The team will be spilling secrets and rumors about him constantly. The second he signs there someone will blurt out the name of his dog. The Dodgers won't be able to protect him from the paparazzi who will figure out who he's dating and will start harassing her. Way to go Dave, you f***ed it up. Dodgers are OUT
  16. Ok so let's do a little process of elimination here. Cubs are OUT. Roberts opened his fat mouth, so the Dodgers are OUT. Ohtani went and saw that left field wall in San Fran and they are OUT. He wants to play for a winner so the Angels are OUT. Simple process of elimination leaves only the Jays folks.
  17. Ross is wining and dining Ohtani in Florida and the Dodgers are in Nashville
  18. The Jays don't leak s***. I bet Ohtani's camp leaked it since he's on the verge of signing and any other teams better get their last offers in.
