  1. Yeah Dodgers fans are going to be pissed until the season starts and they win 100 games again.
  2. Interesting move by the Reds. Don't really need another infielder but this probably sets up a trade where they can move India for a starter. Didn't really like the Martinez signing but they do need pitchers like him. Regardless, seems like they are spending some money to fill some holes. They should be pretty good this year. Could be a potential trade partner for us.
  3. I trust Steve Phillips (known philanderer) with my life
  4. I trust Greg Amsinger with my life (Never heard of him before today)
  5. I choose to believe it. If it was something pro-Dodger then I would question it.
  6. So it basically is going to feel/look a little bit dirty? And that's fine? I do zero cooking in my house but I do take care of the dishes so you are talking to an idiot when it comes to this stuff.
  7. Imagine our piece of s*** stadium being the thing that tips the scales lol
  8. How do you clean the damn thing? Can't find any good sources on how to do so.
  9. Higashioka and Grisham are actually similar players. Very good defensive players at premium positions with serviceable bats relative to their position. Higa only has 1 year of control left and Grisham has 2. But the Padres get a couple of young depth arms to make up that difference. Then the Padres are getting a mid-rotation starter (he's volatile but I think most playoff contenders would have a hard time finding a #3 or #4 pitcher better than him?) who is pretty cost controlled for two years. They also are getting a legit prospect who also adds to the depth this year. Yankees are getting a star player but one who is going to make 33 million bucks this year. On a strictly WAR per dollar basis the Padres likely come out ahead. They need to cut costs and fill out the roster with depth which is what they need and they added a legit prospect in doing so. But the Yankees get a star player (at a star's salary) which is something they need and these 5 WAR types provide some "hidden" extra juice in that they provide all that WAR from just one roster spot. Pretty good trade for both sides given their goals.
  10. Hmm I can see what you're saying but I think you could also frame it like this: Higashioka, Vazquez and Brito have a similar value to Grisham. Then it comes down to King and Thorpe for Soto.
  11. Yeah arguing against strawmen is his schtick. Every other post has some sort of strawman argument. Then he posts the same tired critiques against that strawman like he's making some sort of winning argument. The reality is that almost everyone here agrees that Atkins isn't the best GM and that there are definitely areas can improve in. These aren't novel arguments, as I said almost everyone here agrees with benign opinions like that. But because he wants to be a contrarian Debbie Downer he has to create strawmen in order to even be able to post his whiny garbage.
  12. Padres did fine I think. Yankees too. Soto is great but he makes ~33 mil for one year. There’s not a ton of surplus value there. Michael King alone might provide more.
  13. Soto is obviously good but it’s not so much about him it’s about the other worthless players they’ve added. Stanton is a zero at this point and Rodon could be. Judge and Cole are on the wrong side of 30. Is adding a 400 million dollar DH really what the team needs? 5 players and they’ll be at the luxury tax. Jays are slightly different in that they aren’t saddled with horrible contracts until the end of the decade. And Ohtani presents unique opportunities for the team so they seemingly have an Ohtani budget and a non-Ohtani budget.
  14. Yeah the starting lineup is bad defensively (stay because of the Verdugo acquisition) but over the course of the season there will be plenty of ABs for the 4 of them and Grisham will get plenty of time in CF.
  15. That might also work out well for the Jays. They'd already be in luxury tax territory until 2030 with just 5 guys (Judge, Cole, Rodon, Soto, Stanton).
  16. That Bautista injury hurts. O's using what little FA money they have on a replacement.
  17. Ross letting it happen because he knows he's getting Ohtani.
  18. Yanks OF defense is going to challenge for the worst in the league. If getting Soto was the plan not sure why they felt the need to get Verdugo. I guess they can bring in a defensive whiz to be the 4th OF and the first time Stanton gets hurt (won't take long) they can cycle Soto/Judge through the DH spot and play the 4th OF in center.
