    As Jays fans would we want the Expos back? Probably a net negative for the Jays bottom dollar? But also kind of cool to have them back?

    Interesting points about the expansion fee. It makes sense why they want the Rays owner to sell and then keep the team in Tampa under new ownership rather than allowing the current owner to move them.

    I'd take a flyer on Kimbrel. He's been really inconsistent over the years but he has bounced back before and I think he can do it again. Probably not a dominant closer but he could at least be a decent setup man as he can still miss bats. You always want to buy low on him anyway. Only dumb teams like the Orioles or Cubs ever buy high on him.

    This is a great article! Barger yanking 440 foot homers out of the stadium has me intrigued too. He also projects well. Get him ABs early and if he struggles he can be optioned for Roden. Wagner's projections are great but getting both him and Barger ABs could be hard early on. I think they can do it by working them in at 3B Nance's stuff is intriguing, though he's never really put up good numbers at any level and is 34. I can't stand Zach Pop but his Stuff+ and Location+ should be good enough to be decent. But for some reason he can't really seem to put it together either. Yarbrough is slightly intriguing to me. The Jays might be squeezing more juice out of him than the Dodgers and if we get injuries (or if Francis and Yariel continue to suck) he might be a serviceable bulk pitcher.

    You would think that Vlad's agency, which is new and owned by singer Marc Antony, would be fairly risk-averse. They are trying to make a name for themselves and landing a $450M dollar deal for their premier client would help put them on the map by shattering the record for a 1B. If they screw it up it would be a big stumbling block right out of the gate.

    Agreed. I think Vlad's camp is leaking it and he wants to go back to the negotiating table.

    They are really close. Vlad has probably stretched them as far as they could possibly go so he just needs to take some more deferrals to get his $500 mil and get this damn thing done.

    Yeah we can probably field a lineup where you are comfortable with 1-3 and 6-9 right now. But all told we've got 17 guys who project to hit league average or better. Hopefully a couple of them step up and the lineup is rocking 1-9.

    Rosenthal is reporting the same. So Vlad wants 500 mil and the Jays offered him 400-450 in present day value.

It's going to be hard for him to get much more than that, but there are plenty of scenarios where he gets hundreds of millions less.

    Yeah most of them project around 2 WAR or so. If we can get a couple of them to hit their 75-80th percentile projections then we would have some damn good players on our hands.

    I think Walker did sign a major league deal, but he does have an option still. So he can still be optioned to MiLB. Pretty sure anyway.

    Spring stats don't mean much but if they did then you'd be pretty thrilled as most of the team is raking. And if those two struggle they won't "be in the middle or top of our lineup" for long. Gimenez will stay in and hit 9th and Springer will become a platoon bat.

    Our roster is built for the Grapefruit League as AAA and AA are littered with guys that project to be okay big league hitters. We have something close to 20 guys who project close to 100 wRC+.

    So we've got the following wave of Buffalo Boys who are ready to crash upon the beaches of Toronto: Wagner Roden Schneider Barger Clement Jimenez Loperfido Behind that is a SECOND wave of guys that need a couple months in the minors before they reach shore: Orelvis Clase Schreck McAdoo Kasevich We also have a sneaker wave that could strike at any moment. These are older guys with zero pedigree but they could still unexpectedly strike shore when you least expect it (like Clement): Lukes Stefanic Berroa Straw And finally, behind all of that we have a TIDAL WAVE of a player coming and when he hits TO the World Series will be easy to make: Nimmala

    George Springer might want to get off to a hot start this year if he wants to keep his job Barger, Roden, Schneider, Lukes and even Berroa and Straw are all hitting the s*** out of the ball this spring

    JDM isn't an upgrade though. If we signed him he'd project to be our 16th best hitter, just ahead of Leo Jimenez and Orelvis Martinez.

    He'll be in the lineup pretty early on I bet. If it's not Opening Day then by late April. If he's as good as we think then we might as well take the extra year of control. Wagner is good too though and he can hold down the DH spot until then. When Roden comes up it will pinch Wagner's playing time a bit but they can figure it out. Hopefully he can play a little 3B to get his bat in there more often.
