    Atkins is probably deal hunting at this point after missing on a couple of his big targets. It's frustrating but he should have done it last year and we could have made strong plays for Snell and Chapman. Instead he tried to jump the market on KK and others and it backfired. Some of the remaining Free Agents are going to sign for less than we think. If Atkins can't get a deal on one of the FAs then he can pivot to the trade route and get Jordan Montgomery or Matz for nothing.

    Yeah, Flaherty and Profar don't. Neither does Tanner Scott or the old fart pitchers either. If we do sign a QO guy, might be a scenario where you sign one of them if you can get a good deal and then at that point might as well double dip and sign another.

    It all depends on the price I suppose. If every other team is thinking along the same lines then their could be a deal to be had on Santander or Pivetta.

    So if we sign a QO guy we lose our 2nd rounder and 500k in bonus pool money? And then if we sign another one we lose our 3rd rounder? That's freaking rough, especially with high picks this year. Though I suppose that any FA with a QO attached would see his price drop due to the forfeiture. But still...

    Why do you keep pumping the tires on Kepler? No one gave a crap when you mentioned him before and no one should give a crap that he signed with the Phillies now. He projects worse than Barger.

    I don't want to start up another fight. My point is that there are posters here who give Atkins a 5/10 and posters here who give him a 1/10. All want him gone so we really aren't even arguing over anything that distinctive. I think the personalities just clash and that's a stupid reason to have the year long beefs.

    So posters who supported Atkins and have since "flipped" need to "look back at comments that were being made in real time"? Okay, sure. Things were going okay until last year so it seems reasonable to have been relatively bullish on the team and then slowly change your mind as the quality of the state of the org begins to downgrade as well. But even so, what should we do about posters who bet real life money on the Jays winning the WS while simultaneously doom-posting on the board for months on end?

    I'm shocked you of all people made those bets! You either don't think things through and change your opinion on a dime or what you truly believe (as evident by where you put your money) is different then what you say on the board. But to each their own!

    Hammer the over. Everything went wrong last year and they still won 73. The team already projects for significantly more than 76.5 and Atkins needs to save his job so he'll make more moves. They might not get the home run of an offseason we wanted but they will be getting better as the offseason progresses.

    Excited for the new site. It's been long overdue. Some of the changes are going to be a lot different for us. A lot of us old crusty vets probably won't like every single change either. But overall it's going to be a huge net gain for the board and we should try and support Brock and the new site as much as we can.

    So for starting pitchers it looks like Flaherty and Pivetta are the two best remaining FAs? Then you've got a drop off to the old guys (Scherzer, Verlander, Lance Lynn).

    Michael Lorenzen wants to be a 2-way player. I never even knew he could hit but I went and looked and he had a .710 OPS as a hitter prior to the universal DH. He's probably not good enough at either hitting or pitching to mess around with it and get him 2-way player status.
