    JD Martinez would be a decent fit for some teams but probably not ours. Wagner and Roden look like better options.

    Yeah 1-3 are good and so is 7-9 (grading on a curve) but the middle of the lineup is pretty weak on paper. But we do have a pretty deep lineup that should hold up okay even with some injuries to anyone other than Vlad. 7-9 is solid (especially when Varsho is back over Loperfido), the bench has some guys that can hit, and so does AAA. So while the heart of the order could use another bat, the depth helps mitigate that, and there’s a chance the team already has the answer if one or two of the 14 options for spots 4-9 hit their 75th percentile projections.

    Yeah they were pretty hopeful they could re-sign him but they didn't know for sure that they couldn't until 2 weeks ago. That's not a great time to trade him. Plus, the team wants to compete and they probably feel they have a strong chance to re-sign him in FA. Baseball's TV deals are in the toilet right now with ESPN dropping them and the regional networks all dying. There aren't that many teams that can even afford to give out a $400 million dollar contract right now and there is even fewer that will do it for a 1B/DH. The Jays are well positioned to bring him back and I'd probably consider them the favorites.

    Ha, both Grayson and the team tried hand-waving his velo dip by saying he wasn't trying. Turns out he's hurt after all. O's might want to wait on moving those fences in.

    Jimenez makes sense but I could see him being left off. If we keep Wagner (2B), Barger (3B) or Schneider (2B), when one of those guys play the infield it frees up Gimenez or Clement to play elsewhere. Orelvis (2B/3B) too but I think he starts off in Buffalo.

    You would think but most of them have options so we can make it work if we aren't getting good offers. For one, keeping them all and seeing which ones break out is a benefit. Two, if injuries strike either us or another team during the season then the depth will come in handy.

    Use those three as the mainstays at the top of the lineup and then just shuffle 4-9 around depending on the matchups. Not a ton of room in the projections between Kirk, Wagner, Springer, Varsho and Gimenez. Clement should probably bat 8th or 9th. So depending on the pitcher I think they can mix and match the 4-9 spots. If one of them hits velo better and they have a SP who throws 96 on the hill, move that hitter up. Someone who hits breaking balls really well moves up against the right pitchers. Etc.

    I am kind of liking Bo-Vlad-Taters hitting 1-2-3. The Book probably says to bat them 1-2-4 and the cleanup hitter won't be ideal no matter who it is but it makes sense to break up the righties by batting Taters 3rd.

    Stefanic is a fun player. 80 hit tool and Projects well and can take a walk 30 power 30 speed

    Other than the Vlad extension, Spring Training is going about as well as possible. We are pretty unscathed health-wise and Varsho is ahead of schedule Rivals are picking up some injuries Gausman is back Bo is back Scherzer is turning back the clock Kirk is in the best shape of his life Roden, Orelvis, Martinez look like future All-Stars Hoffman is unhittable Josh Walker looks like a shrewd pickup Popkins has the guys hitting for damage, even Kilometers Straw The playoffs will be easy to make

    Their cheapskate owner won't even get his players quality mattresses and now it's leading to back injuries

    Nimmala and Roden just went back to back with no doubters off of Yohan Ramirez. That's particularly impressive for Nimmala as Ramirez is a fringe MLB guy.

    Gunnar Henderson is nicked up and Grayson Rodriguez's velo is down.

    This is the guy that everyone was whining about giving a guaranteed deal to but I can see why the team did it, especially since he has an option. In addition to that fastball velo he also has 97th percentile extension so it should play up. And he projects pretty well.
