  1. Bautista might not be ready to face us on Opening Day either
  2. No kidding. Normally I don't care one iota about spring performance unless I'm huffing hopium but he's been so damn bad I can't help but be a little alarmed.
  3. Wagner's plays at 3B today changed a lot. At times I was wondering if Barger or even Vlad should get some games at 3B but there's no way they could make plays like Wagner did. Especially on that ball he had to charge. I'm obviously not completely sold but he should definitely get a crack at it and along with Clement they should have it covered until proven otherwise.
  4. I'd probably do similar. Maybe keep Vlad-Taters-Bo at 2-3-4 against both lefties and righties. Springer can bat leadoff against lefties. But Springer better get off to a hot start! Barger, Roden and plenty of other options are nipping at his heels
  5. Yeah I'd like to see Nance get a shot. His Stuff+ ratings are among the best.
  6. Fangraphs is doing their yearly positional power rankings. Jays off to a great start: Catcher: 4th 1B: 1st 2B: 3rd https://blogs.fangraphs.com/2025-positional-power-rankings-second-base/
  7. Yeah it hasn't been a disastrous Spring, but I definitely have my concerns with the pitching too. Though to be fair, I think most teams in the league can say the same.
  8. It's pathetic! Your average high school team has better tech at their ballparks! What a trash organization.
  9. Anytime you trash an AL East rival you get a "what about the Jays?" reply. But it's not a zero-sum game to me. I can enjoy Gerrit Cole blowing out his elbow irrespective of the Jays having a mediocre team on a bloated budget. Whether it's reading reports that Stanton can't even wipe his own ass anymore because his arms are so shot, to the Jays winning the Grapefruit league, to the Yanks trying to downplay Luis Gil blowing out his arm, etc....as a certified Yankee-hater and Jays fan it warms my heart all the same.
  10. Yeah Lovelady is out of options so you'd have to think that if they are adding him to the 40 it means they are adding him to the 26 man as well.
  11. Schneider just oppo-homered off Aaron Nola. He's having a good spring.
  12. That's a great article. I've been higher on Springer than most due to the bad luck he's suffered but that's only part of the problem as he's getting passed up by younger players now. Ultimately I would love to see a trade. Springer for Montgomery or something would have been a good one but we could also just trade a Buffalo Boy or two and try to get more pitching depth.
  13. The only thing with Roden is that Barger and Wagner are also interesting lefties. I agree that messing with Roden's service time isn't a big deal, but I guess I'd rather take the extra year than not. So unless they think he can win ROTY I might start him off in MiLB and let Barger and Wagner (and frankly Springer as well) show what they've got for 3 weeks. Unless there is a way to find playing time for all 3 of them?
  14. Wise up, quit your cha-cha dancing, and learn some ball Marc Anthony! It's time to get this Vlad extension done!
  15. He doesn't walk a ton for a premier slugger, he's even worse defensively than Soto and has been more inconsistent. So I don't think he ever gets Soto money but I agree he would get more than Ohtani. Probably quite a bit more if he could put up numbers like that.
  16. https://www.thestar.com/sports/arash-madani-disappointed-to-be-done-at-sportsnet-after-16-years/article_fdb523bc-0025-11f0-b66a-2f00fc716ec1.html Thank god
  17. I guess if you're in Vlad's camp, your hope is that whatever he did from June 1 on is simply the new normal and that will carry over to 2025. He hit the absolute piss out of the ball by slashing .343/.403/.620 in 450 plate appearances. That would get him into the 7 to 8 WAR territory he would need to start pushing well beyond 500 mil IMO.
  18. 400M is a great deal for Vlad. If he repeats 2024, he could get higher, but I don't think it will be much higher. He'll need to have some sort of Judge-like walk year where he raises his game to completely new levels to get a ton more than 400M. If he gets hurt or repeats 2023, then he's looking at a little bit better terms than what Pete Alonso just got. I think with recent leaks revealing how close they are, he's trying to get more but it's squeezing blood out of a stone at this point. Maybe he'll get another drop but I think the deal will get done before Opening Day.
