I didn't think Bieber pitched poorly against the Yankees. He gave up 2 runs in an inning. It happens. When you look at the pitches he gave up the hits that lead to those pitches, they weren't awful pitches. Bieber doesn't leave pitches middle middle. I thought it was an early hook for Bieber.

Just curious. Who does everyone want, Detroit or Seattle? I'm not even sure myself matchup wise. I kind of leaning towards Detroit because Seattle has never been to a world series and I'd feel bad for their fanbase when we beat them..lol -

I assume you meant to say the Yankees. Ortiz was like an uncle to him. Vlad's favourite player growing up was his Dad. Ortiz was his second favourite player. If Ortiz was your second favourite player growing up you're probably not going to like the Yankees. -

Max gave up 3 and struck out 11 at the end of July in a game where he was touching 97 and hitting 95 and 96 regularly. His next 4 starts he gave up 1 run, 2 runs, 1 run and 1 run. His stuff looked great. Then the end of August and into September we saw a run of poor outings. The velocity dipped. The breaking balls weren't as sharp. The command wasn't as good. He's an old guy. Was it just physically he wasn't feeling as good? I still see Max as a bit of a wild card. He's had time off. They saw the 5 inning simulated game. If they liked what they saw and his stuff is playing up again, I could see the veteran with the adrenaline of the playoffs, the focus that a veteran has, providing a good start in the playoffs. If he starts a game and he comes out hitting 96 vs 93 his spin rates on the off speed pitches are likely higher too. Time will tell, but I won't be surprised if he's on the roster next series. -
That was a great AB by Santander. 11 pitches. Hit it hard, couldn't find a hole.

He makes that play 99 times out of 100. The wind was a big factor.

The 90% catch probability does not take into account the wind. It was windy as f***. Everyone is seemingly giving Barger a pass. Santander's ball was the harder play given the conditions.

I just think we'll need offense, and I think schneider has a better chance to produce at the plate.

I'd sit ernie tonight and play and play Schneider at 2nd. This won't happen though.

I'm guessing he just guessed right or gearing up for the fastball and trusting his pitch recognition to lay off off speed.

Bieber had an inning where he gave up 2 runs. It happens. If you look at the challenge fastball at the bottom of the zone, you're pitching to the scoreboard. He followed that up with fastball right at the top of the zone. They weren't on the edges, but they weren't terrible pitches. His final AB he walked a Chisholm on a ball that was clearly a strike. He wasn't pitching poorly. I said when they pulled him that it was a mistake to pull him. Now with the defensive miscues we had later in the game definitely still probably deserved to lose the game even if we had kept Bieber in.

The Judge home run is a tough one because there was no earthy reason for a player hit that fastball out of the park in an 0-2 count. In an 0-2 count a player swinging at that fastball where it was located with the velocity it was thrown at probably has a 50%+ whif rate. Judge is just a special player that had a special moment.

I would use an opener and bring in Gausman and let him roll. If using Gausman on short rest wasn't the plan all along they made a massive error in having bruhl on the roster instead of Bassitt or Scherzer.

Man I watched that Vladdy slide 10 times. He was more than 20 feet from the plate when he left his feet. What a slide.

Me either. Santander had a hit and should have had a walk yesterday. The only positive is that if we win today making fun of Yankee fans on twitter that they couldn't beat a team with IKF in the lineup should be fun.

It's funny. When the Straw trade happened and we didn't get Sasaki, I was really angry. Like what a waste of money. I'm sure if management was honest, they didn't think Straw would be a big contributor. Not only was it not a waste of money, his contract was good value this year. We may see straw start a playoff game today. Sometimes it's good to be wrong.

I think Schneider will put Davis at 2nd and Straw in right with Lukes and Barger coming out of the lineup. Clement to 3rd.

He definitely needed the work. Glad that first one came in low leverage. Velo up. Really encouraging. Only thing that didn't go Hoffman's way was missing that backhanded catch on the Kirk home run while he was in the bullpen. That would have been a sick highlight. He almost had it!

I had to watch this game with my buddies at the bar. Things you needed game 1. Gausman to shove, Vladdy to rake and the rest to chip in. Baseball is a game of confidence. Vlad getting that homer in his first AB and making that defensive play. What a dream start. Kirk is hot. Santander's single was key. Then later in the inning Lukes double on a high inside fastball that was a good pitch. Vlad showing emotion on getting a productive sac fly. Everything rolled the Blue Jays way.

This narrative that Bo isn't a team player is ********. You have no clue if he went to management and said, just give me a shot. I'm good to go. Anyone who's seen any video knows he isn't physically ready. Bo's been great for this team this year. You haters are ridiculous.
