I said two days ago I didn't like Hoffman coming in 8th in a 7 to 2 game. Someone pointed out that he needed work and I agreed, but I said use him in the 9th. You don't want that middle of the order to get multiple looks. If we had used Dominguez in the 7 to 2 game we bring in Hoffman in the 9th. That would allowed Hoffman to face the top of the order yesterday having not just seen them previous day. Even with Hoffman having just faced those guys the previous day he was the guy to bring in, in that situation. He looked dominant the day before. The bullpen is our Achilles heel. Hoffman is our guy. We need to use him when the game is on the line.

He probably would have pinch hit for him if it wasn't the 3rd. There rest of the pen is righties. Bringing in Schneider was probably the right play there. He hit a homer yesterday. That bought him that AB.

His stuff looks great. He was cautious and didn't want to leave anything over the plate. Used a big breaking curveball to get back in the zone.

we scored 3 in 5 innings and 5 in 5 innings off him this year. I have hope. Just fingers and toes crossed Max can have a clean first inning. If that happens, we're off to the races.

Bieber's a stud. You need to get him early. If you don't and he gets into a rhythm you're toast. Once he starts locating it's over.

Lukes got the job done, but I would have pinch hit schneider in that spot. This is the pitcher Schneider might face later in the series in a big spot. Would have liked him to have that AB.

guys aren't always going to have their best stuff...that's why you don't pull a pitcher when he does have his good stuff.

You're not wrong. They were on Bieber's fastball, even when it was well located. We've just seen Bieber adjust like he did when he gave up 5 early and then roll off 10 in a row and hold the line.
