  1. I don't like Giminez at 15.2 mil luxury tax number. At 19, I'd really not like that number. As much as I agree with trading Berrios even if we have to pay some money to do it to free up salary, I think we should do the same with Giminez. I don't like the value on that contract. Not sure who would take Giminez though.
  2. No...You're wrong. That or Spotrac and Google Gemini are both wrong..lol
  3. That's actually not true. I just checked. Giminez' luxury tax number with the Guardians in 2024 was the same as it is with us. Once the contract is set the Luxury tax number is set and does not change even if traded. Berrios number is 18.7. I originally said 17 going off memory but my memory isn't that good. Berrios' luxury tax number only helps the teams who actually pay luxury tax penalties. Still of the teams that take him on, it's more than likely going to be a luxury tax payor Maybe the Mets? Regardless we have to pay down his salary if we trade him.
  4. I actually wasn't aware of that. Giminez is making 96 ml with us yet his luxury tax number is 15.2, not 19....not sure why that is.
  5. If we move Berrios can we sign both Bo and Tucker? I can't shake the feeling that we would really regret losing Bo. Bo's only 27 years old. His bat to ball skills are other worldly. His plate discipline for his career has been marginally better than what Juan Francisco sported for his MLB career. Like he's something like 7th or 8th percentile for his career. His second half and into the playoffs Bo had a 9% walk rate and a 10% K rate with roughly league avg plate discipline. Bo is an absolute monster with league avg plate discipline. People will say he's been in the league long enough. He is what he is, but he's still really not that old. Joey Bats, EE didn't become the players they were until late 20s. Bo's been almost a .300 hitter for his career swinging at absolute garbage. If he did continue to evolve and develop and showed the plate discipline the way he did the second half he could be a .330 hitter with an OPS around .900. I feel like there's another gear that Bo still has the ability to hit. It was sort of a weird year for Bo because he came in out of shape, but the bat just played this year. If Bo gets into better shape and keeps progressing with the bat. Sky is the limit.
  6. Manaea is getting 22 mil a year. Pitching is expensive. Berrios has a 17 mil luxury tax hit which matters if he goes to a luxury tax payor. I think you could move him. Might have to kick a little money in, but not that much.
  7. So you want to lose out on a draft pick by starting him in the minors?
  8. Or trade him and prospects for Buxton and convince Bassitt to come back on the cheap!
  9. I drink coors light when I go out and I'm driving. Lower alcohol content. Don't want to drink and drive. The Jays might be Dodger light. Like i wouldn't be surprised if our payroll is 310 or 320. We're going to flex this off season..lol. Fans are going to hate us for buying a team. I love it!
  10. Jays spent way more last offseason than I thought they would coming off a crap year. The 906K viewers per game in the regular season. That was double the previous year. In the playoffs they had close to 100 million viewers for the playoffs. Sportscenter was doing 1.5 mil instead of the usual 75K. Jays in 30 was doing a million after big games. The dynamic advertising pricing was in full force in October. Rogers made a fortune.
  11. Totally agree and if Bo just loses some weight in the off season his defense should be better next year! Bo had an interesting 2nd half and post season. I'm not sure if it's sustainable, but his plate discipline was more league avg in the 2nd half instead of the usual 5th percentile. He hit .370/.423/.566 in the second half and then took 4 walks in the world series out of 27 PA. Like if Bo can have league avg plate discipline he's a .900 OPS bat.
  12. I'm guessing we're on Marte's 5 team no trade clause. Us the Yanks and 3 others..lol. I think I'd rather trade for Buxton if he's available than sign Tucker. The Dodgers have already reached out on Buxton. I'd hate to think of him going there.
  13. No clue. Agents tend to get in the way! I don't expect his market to get too crazy. My hope is he signs early and we get him on the Atkins diet(pun intended). Bo had an amazing year with the bat. He can really swing it, but he was in the worst shape of his career this year. The extra weight hurt his defense and base running.
  14. As much as Valdez is a good pitcher, I agree completely. I don't want him at all. The chase should be for Cease, Woodruff or Imai. I would be shocked if Bo doesn't resign here. He really is an introvert. He's comfortable here. I think he wants to be here. They'll figure out the money.
  15. Nah, I'm done with getting participation ribbons. I mean, sure help bid the price up, but he's going to the Dodgers. Japan is just their 2nd farm system.
  16. Lukes has earned the opportunity to give it a go next year. There isn't much to do on the position player side other than resign Bo. Sign 2 starting pitchers and sign a couple leverage relievers. Money should be no issue this off season.
  17. Man, I think I joined the Jays board in 2008 back when it was tied to the MLB website. We've been through a lot boys and girls. Hopefully tonight is our greatest memory yet! Let's go!
  18. I want Bassitt in if it's a 1 run game to bridge to Hoffman..lol He's number 2 in the circle of trust for me.
  19. great AB by Kirk. See 6 pitches...hit it hard...just couldn't find a hole....get snell out!
  20. The IKF replay looked like he checked. They didn't show the replay on Giminez, but it looked like he checked. The umps are reacting to Snell. He immediately walked off the mound the same way Vladdy immediately walks to first on ball 4 and Vlad often gets the call even when it's a strike.
  21. I love how Bassitt is looking. He looks so confident out there.
  22. Man I thought that was gone...just off the end of the bat....good swing.
  23. He can get through 8 if Schneider will let him. This is his last start of the season...let him go 120 pitches if he doesn't run into trouble. I know Schneider will never do that though.
