  1. It's going to be depressing if he goes to the Yankees. I wish we would sign him! Spend the money!
  2. Seems like he would be limited to a corner outfield spot defensively, but we do have Merrifield who can play centre. Would have to be priced very attractively to consider. I keep forgetting Conforto is on the market...Hard to judge his market price.
  3. maybe the Jays should just sign Masataka Pedroia....Perhaps kikuchi just needs a friend to turn things around.
  4. Haniger was a guy that at least intrigued me.....another one off the board....damn...things are cooking at these winter meetings.
  5. I just got caught up with what the Mets are doing. I forgot we were on a budget. This free agency would be a lot more fun if we could spend 400 mil on payroll like the Mets.
  6. Very possible he bounces back and his wRC+ is 130+. See 2 can play this game. People will gamble on a one year deal for a guy who's young and done it before.
  7. I would have like to roll the dice on belli for one year...so who we on now?
  8. Basically any pitcher that you sign to a long term commitment immediately has TJ risk even if they've never had injury problems at all in the past. I get the recent shoulder, forearm issues with Degrom, but he rarely missed a start for 4 years from 2017 to 2020. The doctors do medicals. If they think he's fully healthy and his injury risk is only marginally higher than any other 34 year old pitcher you'd be signing why not go for it. The Rangers from a pure talent perspective will open 2023 with one of the most talent pitchers in baseball history. No guts, no glory. If they get 3 out of 5 years and help return their franchise to relevance and glory, it's probably worth it.
  9. Blaming his entire slide on his shoulder is ridiculous. All the power in your swing comes from your back shoulder. Bellinger had his non throwing shoulder, which is his lead shoulder in the swing closest to the pitcher, operated on. His shoulder isn't what ails him. His lower half is disconnected somewhat. They tinkered with things backing off the plate, which didn't help. His o-swing went up a lot. He's pressing. He's mentally broken, and he needs to work on his timing and make some mechanical adjustments to get back to the player he was. I don't believe the shoulder is the issue people are making it out to be.
  10. I agree, I'd rather spend money on a really good starting pitcher, probably through trade and sign a bellinger than commit long term to Nimmo. Nimmo's a really good player. I just don't think that's where we should spend our money.
  11. I've convince myself we should sign Bellinger. Probably stupid, but that's where I'm at..lol Who's pumped for the world cup!
  12. Managers put players in positions to succeed. Swanson was not used in difficult situations or against the best hitters the opposition had very often last year. He's had one good year. Relievers at the best of times can just fall off a cliff and suck even guys who have had many good years. I think Swanson will be serviceable, I just don't expect anything close to his numbers last year. I have oddly high hopes for Pearson. Probably because I'm stubborn and I like a good comeback story.
  13. Erik Swanson was put in high leverage situations 16% of the time last year. The other 84% were low leverage or mid leverge situation. 62% of the batters he faced were below league average hitters. The average OPS+ of the hitters he faced last year was an OPS+ of 87.8. Did we trade one Mirage for another Mirage? Only time will tell.
  14. I'd be plenty happy if he could just be an impact reliever throwing 100 with big movement on his slider!
  15. Teoscar posted a wRC+ of 145 in 2020, 132 in 2021 and 129 in 2022. I'd argue his production is actually fairly reliable. It's just we have more people to extend than we have dollars available. I wouldn't be against an extension if we got some sort of discount. Time will tell as to how that goes. I'm also glad to see Pearson pitching in the DWL. I know everyone has left him for dead. Hard to argue with that, but if he could somehow be a redemption story next year that would be huge for the club. We could really use something out the guy.
  16. We have a catcher problem. Not in a bad way, but a good way. Danny Jansen was good this year. 2 years remaining. Kirk was great. I think he fatigued a bit down the stretch. A healthy Danny Jansen next year probably helps with that. Moreno does not belong in the minors. He's ready for the bigs. Trading one makes a lot of sense. Which one do we trade? We don't have a lot of payroll to work with. Woodruff and Burnes have 2 years of control. Would you use a catcher to try and get one of thoe players. Woodruff obviously the more realistic target. The Breweres offesne is terrible, particularly at the catcher position, but they always pitch well. Is there a deal to be made? The Brewers obviously have a lot of money to be spend. They don't seem like the team that would go all in and sign the best offensive talent to 5 year deals when they have a 2 year window when they are competing with the Mets, Braves and Dodgers to get to the world series.
  17. I have a soft spot for Ryu. It's not out of the realm of possiblity he could return mid season. You woudn't expect it with an older guy, but it's hard to say. I'm pulling for him.
  18. He pitched to a 3.11 FIP this year. Matz got 4 and 44 and he wasn't near as good last year. We're now into an new CBA with much higher thresholds. He'll get more than 3 and 30 from some team.
  19. Yeah but they gave Kikuchi 36 mil and he had a career FIP around 5 and not shockingly he pitched to that same level this year so expecting the guy to pitch more than a run better than his career numbers which was needed ot justify that salary was a bit ridiculous. Seattle fans laughed at us when we signed him. They were right. Atkins is a solid GM who's made mistakes. All GMs do. Has he made enough to get fired. No, not unless there's someone better which is not out of the realm of possiblity. You look to upgrade every position, including GM. If there's someone you think can do the job better, see you later Ross. Dwayne casey was a solid competent coach on a first place team. He was removed for a better coach in Nick Nurse.
  20. Come on Georgy...time for a springer dinger
  21. Dude hit a ball on a line with a .630 expected batting average last AB. When did this turn into the casual blue jays board.
  22. That or someone else's Jordan Romano.
  23. rizzo and his stupid baserunning decisions have really helped us out this series.
  24. The Red Sox have a lot of money to spend. I'm not sure why Judge would want to go there. They have no pitching. They also have to fight for Bogaerts who will be a free agent. They will ultimately drive the price up for the Yankees who will spend 8 and 320 to retain Judge's services.
