  1. This game may never end.
  2. Let's go Canada! 2.5 more hours and I'll toast to a nice first victory!
  3. shades of Lourdes Gurriel Jr there..lol
  4. That was my first thought. Pop, Richards and Pearson have some good competition going this camp.
  5. Is White a roster lock? Isn't he out of options. Do you think they'd DFA him?
  6. His slider touched 88 and 89 with decent bite on it in the 2nd inning of work. He also threw a cement mixer, but often his slider sits 85 or 86 so I like seeing the velo on the slider tick up.
  7. Looks like it's spring training and we feel the need to be overly critical and comment on every pitch because we're bored and dying for real baseball? Nate threw a couple decent sliders too. I like the fact that his slider was hitt 88, 89. Would be nice to see it hit low 90s. Solid enough progression in his second outing.
  8. He missed a few times with the fastball, but not over the plate. If he can just have slightly below average fastball command with that slider he'd be a really good 5th starter. Slightly below average fastball command would be a big improvement over last year though....time will tell. Nice start. Most of his issues are between his ears so the more confidence he gets in spring the better.
  9. He was 97th percentile in chase rate. 90th percentile in avg exit velocity, 96th percentle in hard hit %, 83rd percentile in xwoba. He's still pretty good.
  10. McCutchen grades out fine defensively as a corner outfielder. His sprint speed was still 90th percentile last year. His arm is crappy. He may not be a CF anymore but he'd look fine in left field. I probably would have rather have had McCutchen to Belt, but I'm happy to have McCutchen. Trade Biggio and sign McCutchen and we'd really be cooking..lol
  11. I mentioned Belt over a month ago on Twitter. I'll admit it isn't the most natural fit, but I like the bat. I'm surprised he got as much money as he did. It's not my money so I don't care. We're going to have injuries. People worry about the outfield suffering injuries and for good reason with Springer and Kiermaier, but Danny missed a good chunk last year and Kirk missed a big chunk the year before. The idea that our catcher was going to be our primary DH seemed a bit of a stretch. It will still happen at times. Our bench looks so much better than it did last year. Mind you we are spending over the luxury tax this year!
  12. Basically the Mets signing Correa cost us any shot at Conforto. It's a shame, I wanted him too!
  13. Bauer's a douche, but I'm all for 2nd chances. Bauer as our 5th starter...who's with me...lol.
  14. They are paying 2.5 mil per year. McCaan is a pretty high character guy. How much cheaper do you want to go?
  15. It would be nice if the baseball gods would balance things out. How about Verlander, Scherzer and Carrasco all on the DL mid May...
  16. He's also got 4 years of control and Arizona likely also knows how valuable he is. It's been reported he isn't available as people have already tried. I feel like catchers transition to the outfield because they're always reacting the ball flying in, reacting quickly to infield pop ups. The reaction portion of an outfielder jump equation is something that comes naturally to someone who has played catcher, but most catchers are slow as f***. We have Gabriel Moreno. He's not slow as f*** and he has a cannon for an arm. We may have Daulton on our team. A kid who came up as a middle infielder as a youth. He's a right handed bat, but he has the ability to play the outfield. We had injuries to Jansen last year, Kirk the year before. He provides cover at catcher. Our bench last year we had pieces like Biggio, Collins, Zimmer, Tapia, bradley. This year our bench could be Moreno, Biggio, Espinal/Merrifield, Jansen/Kirk to start the year. That's pretty sexy. Injuries will happen. Players who aren't available now likely will be available at the deadline. Guys like Woodruff or Burnes at the deadline will have 1 year left. If the Brewers aren't in contention it will be put your best offer to extend in front of the player or trade him time. Still having Moreno on the team could allow us to make a more impactful trade at the deadline than is available now. I like the position we are in now.
  17. So the Yankees have 2 aces, 2 number 2s and a number 4...damn. I still think their lineup is garbage if Judge regresses to just really, really good.
  18. The Dodgers luxury tax payroll is currently 30 mil less than the Jays. Walker Buehler is out for the season. Can they just wake up and remember they are the Dodgers and go sign Rodon so the Yankees don't get him?
  19. I feel like strip made real strides with his change up. The consistency and willingness to throw it more. It's highly unlikely he replicates the numbers he put up last year. I'm sure his walk rate will climb a bit, but I think he will have good numbers, maybe as good as Bassitt. He essentially took a 1 year deal with insurance in case he sucks. That does us no good. You don't want to go out on the market next year and try and find a quality pitcher willing to take a 2 year deal. Bassit's money comes off the books when Vlad and Bo are free agents. That was the perfect deal, 3 years. Now if we could hop in the hot tub time maching and go back a year and not sign Kikuchi and have that money to sign strip as our number 5 we'd really be cooking with some peanut oil. I hope strip has a great season and gets paid next year.
  20. Rodon Bassit, Senga syndergaard stripling, Conforto, Benintendi, brantley.....a few names....but as each one leaves the board the anxiety gets higher. If we got one starter and one outfielder from that group I'd be happy.
  21. Spotrac has them at 332 which would put total payrol at 401. I wanna believe a team can spend over 400 mil and arguabley not improve on what they were the year before..lol. I could maybe even argue they aren't as good...lol.
  22. Spotrac had them at 333. That puts them at 401 with the tax they owe. Congrats Mets! That's ludicrous. They are actually a worse team on paper than last year too..lol.
  23. It's going to be depressing if he goes to the Yankees. I wish we would sign him! Spend the money!
