  1. There's no doubt the players would have to agree to a 40% pay cut in order for an Arizona plan to proceed. People talk about the health risks. I'm not sure the players would be more likely to contract Coronavirus in Arizona in a controlled environment vs being at home and going to the grocery store. They are at risk now. You have to have players willing to play for less and broadcasters, trainers etc willing to leave their families. You also need AAA teams playing. Injuries are going to happen and you need to be able to call players up. It seems like a long shot overall, but it would be great to see baseball.
  2. "LOLOLOLOLOLOL..no it literally means 2.5 - 3% who got it died...that's what Mortality rate is." That was your exact quote and it's wrong. Roughly 10% of people who got the Spanish flu died. Saying the mortality rates are similar is misleading, because most deaths of spanish flu were not documented, where as most deaths of Corona are documented.
  3. Mortality rate is the death rate of recorded cases as it relates to the spanish flu. An estimated 500 million got the flu and approximately 50 million died. Simple math suggests 10%, not 2.5%. Just because there weren't 500 million officially recorded cases doesn't mean the mortality rate wasn't significantly higher than 2.5%. You also have to look at demographics. In 1920 the average life expectancy was 60. It's now north of 80. There were a lot less old people in 1918 when the flu hit. The mortality rate among younger people at the time was far higher for those had spanish flu than those who currently have corona. The flu had a high death rate for children. Corona does not. Corona isn't as bad as the spanish flu. Why do you so desperately want it to be worse than it is? https://www.wired.com/story/covid-19-is-nothing-like-the-spanish-flu/
  4. are you incapable of reading. I said no one has it figured out. A vaccine is likely at some point, but that's a year out at least. How fast or wide reaching it spreads until that point is anybody's guess. Unlike most on here you are old, so I would buy a lot of toilet paper and hunker down and not leave the house if I were you!
  5. https://www.wired.com/story/covid-19-is-nothing-like-the-spanish-flu/ Why are you so angry Jim. There's a world wide shortage in testing kits and even the swabs necessary for testing. You can't simply google corona virus update, do some simple math and say with certainty what the death rate is. The number of actual cases vs reported could be 2 3, or as much as 10 times the reported number. Korea was the most aggressive in terms of testing and drive by collection facilities. Their death rate is under 1%. The numbers from the cases reported show death rates from ages 0 to 40 to be .2% Age 40 to 50 is .4%. The older you get the the death rate sky rockets. Demographics play into this. Countries with older populations will have higher death rates. Countries with poor health care will have higher death rates. You could argue that the death rate will rise once cases rise and health care facilities are over run. You could argue the strain will mutate and and death rates will rise. You could also argue the more aggressive strain will die out with people and over time the death rate will go down. You can argue that treatment options may develop that will reduce death rates. The reality is there is a whole lot of unknown at this point. Arguing vehemently one way or another is like taking 20 at bats of a player in his rookie season and determining what he will be in the entire season. There is an insignificant sample size. People need to prepare and take precautions because this isn't just the flu, but the world will get through this. This isn't the spanish flu either, if only because medical advances are so much greater, and we got through that. I shop almost every day because I like fresh food. Even I have stocked my pantry in the event that I get ill. I may only get the normal influenza, but I won't know if it's influenza or corona and by simply staying home and using common sense it will help in preventing the spread of Corona.
  6. So how's the bullpen battle shaping up. Is Font really guaranteed a spot in the pen? Who makes it.
  7. His ex girlfriend's cousin's aunt twice removed texted me and said it was just his appendix.
  8. yeah, why would he want to play with the Dodgers when he can play for us for less money.
  9. I don't think you can make than connection and support trump at the same time. In light of your sensitivities I will now call Kirk Kung Fu Panda or Fat Bastard just for you.
  10. yes comparing one fat man to another is racist. I hope Kirk loses 30 or 40lbs and I'll just call him Kirk. The guy is a hitting machine. I really like the kid.
  11. I can do whatever I want. He's a fat bastard who's remarkably good at his sport for his size just like Butterbean. I hope he flies through the minors and is brought up this year. Go butterbean!
  12. butterbean rules!
  13. i hope we get a look at butterbean today.
  14. The indians had him. The indians need him and yet they made no attempt to get him back. Those are red flags. Tito is a guy most players should be able to play for.
  15. that or he's gotten fat and just isn't very good anymore.
  16. It’s still early in spring training. If we’re getting on Alford we should be more concerned about Shaw because he’s actually guaranteed a spot on the roster
  17. For the life of me I don't understand how you can get that fat when your job is to play sports. I'm going on the hope that the organization steps in and gets some sort of jenny craig program in place for him. I know the eye test means nothing to anyone around here, but I just really like his swing. I hope fatty sheds a few pounds and because he has a lot of talent.
  18. Sleeper - Yorman Rodriguez Bust - Derek Fisher Legit new Guy - Alejandro Kirk(fatty can hit!)
  19. there's no denying Alford's speed....the dude has some amazing wheels for such a big guy.
  20. Alford gonna have to keep getting knocks to make this team....nice start.
  21. run fatboy run
  22. Kirk is listed at 5'9 220....I think they are being generous with his height and his weight..lol. Nice knock though.
  23. Yes, I believe everything I wrote whole heartily. I definitely wasn't stringing a narrative to argue with Jim for the sake of arguing because there's nothing else to talk about.
  24. everyone with kids care...we don't want to see people jacking off in front of them. You're single and can't get laid. You relate to the need to masturbate. Some of us are at a different stage of life and have kids who don't need to see that s***. The law is on my side. I'm not the one with a wacked out point of view..pun intended.
