  1. It would probably be best of 5 and who cares. The more the merrier. The cards won the world series with 83 wins in 2006 and the Jays had 87 wins that season. Would have been nice to see the Jays in the post season that year.
  2. Why in the world would you not want expanded playoffs?
  3. it's hard to deny a guy who hits 2 bombs in one game! I remain a tad skeptical, but I hope he can take a big leap forward and be a contributor. We need a handful of guys to take leaps this year. Teoscar or Grichuk might have to hit the bench against some tough righties as the season progressed. Rowdy is my 5 hole hitter for opening day. He's in a groove I though Borucki looked great last night. He was on the edges or off the plate for almost all of his pitches. He got lit up oppo taco by one of the best hitters in the game on a pitch that caught too much of the plate. The velocity was there. He's my 5th starter week 1.
  4. 1. The Yankees will miss the playoffs. 2. Rowdy will hit 16 dingers 3. Fans will be in the stands for the post season.
  5. I was pretty in to this game tonight and this was just a pre-season game. I definitely don't need fans to get me excited when watching baseball.
  6. SRF used to sit 2 or 3 MPH faster.....not sure what happened.
  7. Yeah, but that was a hanger.....still he knocked it out. Our offense could be pretty good this year.
  8. I think he should get the start week one.
  9. Borucki's looking pretty good He's been on the edges. He hasn't had a lot over the middle of the plate, unfortunately the 2 mistakes he made got hit hard.
  10. I'm all good with letting him be the regular DH for the most part....I was just being polite to some of the guys on here who said he wasn't a major league hitter.
  11. Rowdy's building the case....he's a must start against righties at this point
  12. Do you have an optometrist close to you?
  13. I don't get the reason why people need to go out of their way to put down Alford. I think it's unlikely he's going to amount to much either, but he's a pretty nice dude. There's less yelling bust for Mckinney or Fisher and they are both older and were 1st Rounders. Alford was a 3rd round pick. I don't get it.
  14. now they are talking about sharing Camden Yards and Nationals park. I didn't realize they were so close...only 38 miles apart. Hopefully someone will let the homeless kid stay at their place.
  15. If you have a child living in Florida, you can book a flight today, go see them and come back. Now once you return if you live in a place that requires a connecting flight you will land in Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Edm and then hop on a domestic flight to get to your final destination. All the people on the plane flying domestically are not made aware that there is someone on the plane who was just in Florida hours ago.
  16. The Pittsburgh Blue Jays! It's amazing if somehow the MLB, Pirates and Brewers would agree to move their night game to a day game on the 29th of July there isn't a scheduling conflict until Sept 8. There would be 2 series that conflict in September. Both against the Yankees. They could play those on the road. Pittsburgh is the perfect solution.
  17. Borucki has had some success in summer camp. He has a new pitch mix and I like his mental make up. He doesn't have to put up his 2018 numbers. Having such a low HR rate is unlikely, but as a 5th starter he really only needs to put up a 4.3 FIP and you'd be pretty happy. I'd call it 50/50 whether he or Thorton for that matter achieve that level or better. I think the more likely mirage is McGuire. I'm hopefully Jansen has a much better season though. My two picks would be Rowdy first and Romano second.
  18. So who is going to be the biggest upside surprise this year? Is it Rowdy who's on a tear? Anthony Alford seems on life support but he's hit a couple bombs in summer camp. Does Derek Fisher turn potential into consistency. How about Teoscar taking his hot streak in the second half and showing he's made material change. Is Jordan Romano going to be an impact reliever? Does Trent Thornton build on last year and keep improving? Does Borucki put injuries behind him and show that his new cutter will only allow him to build on his 2018 performances? Who else? Who do you have?
  19. Rowdy with another Bomb. Dude's on fire. Alford with another round tripper off Ryu. Dunedin Jays looking good!
  20. Buffalo would be ideal, but I'm not sure the facilities will meet the minimum standard. Hopefully they can play there. It will be the safest place for them.
  21. The 2 aren't comparable. One poses tremendous risk. The second poses almost zero risk. People are at greater risk going to a grocery store. I'm pissed because we just turned away millions in tax revenue. No biggy Trudeau doesn't care about spending money and what's a few more dollars to the deficits that are growing out of control. On the baseball side, our players are now have a substantially higher risk of catching Covid. What happens if we actually do get off to a hot start and we miss the playoffs by a game or two and we had 3 of our best players miss the last 2 weeks because they caught Covid? The odds of a player dying because of Covid are next to nil. The odds of a team missing the playoffs because of Covid are actually quite high!
  22. 2 levels of governments with infections disease experts were fine with the plan. New York, Massachusetts and Maryland all had the same quarantine rules. Each state had infectious disease experts. They all gave their blessing to the MLB. The federal govt made a political decision. It wasn't about keeping people safe.
  23. There are planes coming from the States to Canada every day. We had an outbreak in Sask when two separate people who flew from the states landed in Toronto and Calgary. They then took connecting flights with people flying domestically to Saskatoon. The most likely place to pass on Covid because of the airflow and confined space is the air plane. Even if the travelers coming back from the states follow quarantine rules(which no one monitors anyways), all the domestic passengers on the connecting flights could have unknowingly caught Covid on the plane and went the grocery store the very next day and passed it on. Compare that with what the Jays were going to do. Trudeau has zero common sense.
  24. How was this the right call? We just turned away millions in tax revenue. The Jays players are Canadian residents. They live in Toronto and pay a ton of tax dollars to the government. They just sent a bunch of young men who pay a lot of money to Canada to live in a Covid hot bed. That's pathetic. Players are tested every 2 days. They travel on private charters, take private buses to their hotel that is inside the Rogers centre. They also get room service. They literally won't be in contact with anyone. As long as hotel staff follow proper safety protocols the odds of any Canadian catching Covid from a baseball player is almost 0. The Liberals made a political decision rather than the correct one.
  25. so you wouldn't trade Kirk for one of the top 5 players of all time...and I thought I liked Kirk. I wouldn't worry. The Angels aren't trading Mike Trout for Kirk.
