  1. It's a great deal. Though this league we're in (if it's the same one as Gibbers has been promoting is a salary league). The salary cap is at $100 million. I was offered Joe Mauer in this league - the guy wanted just some draft picks. At first, I was like wow that's a great deal, though saw Mauer's salary figures in this league and saw how much he was making until 2018, I said forget it. Would rather use my $ and bid on a group of some solid FA's rather than handcuff myself on an injury prone catcher. Gordan is making $11.66 million in this league and under control until 2016 at that rate. That's pretty decent I'd say, though still have to familiarize myself with salary leagues since this is the first one I've ever been in.
  2. I'm buying a Ryan Goins jersey tonight!
  3. That's a great deal. If Gordon isn't making like 15 + million, I think your good! Are you in the one Gibbers sent invites out for?
  4. I'm sure a couple of years ago on the old board there was a long thread on how John McDonald should be the starting shortstop.
  5. http://www.ohio.com/sports/indians/yan-gomes-goes-from-a-throw-in-to-likely-throwing-himself-into-role-as-indians-top-catcher-1.428041 Cleveland loves Yan Gomes!
  6. Forget about Santana, what about the Brazilian kid that goes by the name of Yan? haha.
  7. I'd welcome McCann in a heartbeat, though he'll likely demand a lot of $ and I'm sure he signs with the Yankees since they need a catcher badly.
  8. There are always great gems in the waiver draft. Even guys like Brandon Beachy, Devin Mesoraco, Chris Archer, Starling Marte, David Freese, Koji Uehera etc have been taken in the waiver draft as well. The past two years though, like you said the talent has been off the charts - Darvish, Cespedes, Ryu, Puig - and it seems like more can be coming.
  9. Well my fantasy season just went down the drain in the FC league with EE done for the season.
  10. I hope that's true with JPA as well this offseason.
  11. I hope your right. I would dance down Yonge Street if this was the case!
  12. I don't think there is going to be that many drastic changes as there was last offseason. The Blue Jays need to solidify themselves behind the plate. JPA should not be a starter. He'll likely still be on the team my guess, though I'd like to see the Jays sign a solid vet like Carlos Ruiz or even bring back Jose Molina. A second baseman is needed, most importantly someone who can field. I doubt Howie Kendrick gets moved to Toronto. Personally, I'd love to see the Jays traded for Marco Scutaro or buy low on someone like Danny Espinosa. Scutaro would be a nice bat at the top of the lineup, and if you bring in a guy like Espinosa there's no problem in him batting 8th or 9th. The Blue Jays likely will go after another starting pitcher. Dickey, Buehrle are here to stay, and so is Morrow. I'm worried Happ is kept as the No. 5 starter but we'll see. Don't see the Jays bringing in an ace, though someone who'll likely provide 200 quality innings. There's not much on free agency, since its going to cost a lot of $ to sign Garza. I'd like to see the Jays make a trade for Gallardo possibly. Other than that, the Jays likely will sign a bunch of guys on minor league deals, as I wouldn't mind Marcum brought in on a minor league deal.
  13. I like Hughes (always have), though I don't want him signing with the Blue Jays and he's a pitchers that doesn't fit this ballpark at all. He'll sign somewhere in the NL. As for Halladay, it would be more of a PR move to pitch as a backend guy. He hasn't been that impressive this season, so I don't see teams lining up to sign him. I wouldn't mind taking a chance on him as a No. 5 starter, though wouldn't get my hopes up. I could see the Jays signing Marcum to a minor league deal. Book it!
  14. He had some decent years in New York, really tanked though this season. I can see an NL team signing Hughes, and he'll thrive in a big ballpark somewhere in the NL. Always has had solid K/BB ratios. He'll be a bargain for an NL team, just watch.
  15. Do you think Infante and Peralta can maintain their 2013 level of production moving forward? I don't think so.
  16. A team will sign Rajai as a starting CF and a top of the lineup bat since he has those 40 + stolen bases next to his name which look sexy. He'll likely get a 2-year-deal somewhere. He's just a platoon player, not an everyday player. I'm sure Anthony Gose could do the same thing next season at a fraction of the cost!
  17. d'Arnaud already has 7 BB's in his short stint. Almost half way there catching JPA's 17 BB's on the year lol.
  18. Their production has been very similar this season. Jones is nothing special - sure he's hitting .295 though his .OBP is only .325 and he has a BB % of 3.3 which is worse than JPA. Rasmus could hit around 25 HR's per season and likely post a similar .OPS over a full season (he was on pace doing that this year). Jones' numbers look sexier because of the BA and the RBI totals he has, though overall they are similar players and there's not a drastic difference between the two in my opinion. Around baseball and in the media, Rasmus is vastly undervalued in comparison to the love Adam Jones gets.
  19. There are a lot of great players that could offer similar production to Jose right now. His contract is very team friendly which is a plus at least, since I'm sure a bat like Jose with his pedigree might demand Jayson Werth money (not contract length) if he were a free agent. I doubt the Blue Jays trade him, though I hope we don't see Bautista kept around in a Jays uniform after 2015.
  20. Adam Jones has a better hit tool, though he's not a complete player offensively any stretch of the means. Sure he's hitting .295 though his .OBP at .325 is awful. His BB% is worse than JPA. In terms of overall production, there isn't much of a difference between Rasmus and Jones as we have seen this season. Jones offensive #'s might look sexier due to the batting average, and the RBI opportunities he has had. Other than that, Rasmus is a very similar player.
  21. I'd like to see Howie Kendrick or Marco Scutaro as targets for second base. Finding an above average second baseman who can hit and field should be the No. 1 priority.
  22. I still think Bautista is a great player, though he isn't the same player he was in 2010 and 2011. He's starting to decline offensively as I think moving forward he's more of a .250/.360/.500 hitter with a 35 HR ceiling. And that's if he stays healthy and plays 140-150 games. He's still a great player, though he is no longer one of the top players in the game as he was in 2010 and 2011. He's going to be 34 next season.
  23. I hope the Jays don't trade Rasmus (he's a very valuable piece as we all have seen this year). And it's not like his trade value is through the roof amongst the other teams in the league. Blue Jays are better off holding onto him, since over a full season he could be worth 5 WAR. He's basically a similar player to Adam Jones if you come to think of it.
  24. I'd rather see Gose in 2014 as the 4th outfielder, replacing Davis essentially. Davis will likely want a 2 year deal worth $4-$5 million/per season and I'm sure they'll be a team out there who needs a CF will sign him for about that and promise him 400-500 AB.
  25. +1 TSN has done an amazing job broadcasting CFL games and promoting the game. They've been really helping the league move forward. There is solid talent in the CFL - watching Ricky Ray and Chad Owens on the Argos for example - those are very good players. When I was in NYC at a Mets game, I was talking with a Mets fan - told him I was from Toronto - and we we're talking sports in general, and football came up since he asked me if I ever been to an NFL game. Mentioned the Argos and the CFL, and he even said that the CFL is a lot of fun to watch and that when he visited Toronto went to some Argos games as well.
