  1. I bet McCann goes to the Yankees since they need a catcher badly.
  2. Since I've acquired Wily Peralta, he has been lights out for me. Good thing I sold on Berkman then since now he's contemplating retirement.
  3. Doubt the Jays offer that after the season JJ had and I doubt JJ would take that since he's still young and he's one big season away from landing a huge contract. It would be a good buy low opp, since we know JJ ain't this bad, though it unlikely happen between both parties.
  4. I can see a team giving Lincecum a 2 or 3 year deal if he finishes the season strong. He was pitching pretty well until that blow up against Cincy. His name alone and pedigree (2 Cy Youngs) should guarantee him a multi-year deal if he finishes with an ERA in the low 4's and a K % of 9.0/IP
  5. Thing is, a pitcher like Garza likely will demand a 5 + year deal worth $70-$80 million or more. Johnson when healthy is a better pitcher than Garza and getting JJ back on a one-year deal worth $13-$15 million isn't the worst. I'd rather have JJ for one year rather than sign Garza to a massive contract.
  6. I don't mind having JJ back since we all know he is not this terrible. If he puts up big numbers, the QO could be a bargain and at least solidify the Jays staff in 2014.
  7. Actually I change my pick. I'll go with Lawrie instead - he's due! Canadian vs. Canadian matchup! Gibbers would be proud!
  8. I'll go with DeRosa if he's in the starting lineup; if not than EE!
  9. Catalanotto was great in his time here. He was a platoon player, though he was terrific against RHP. One of my favourite players when I was younger!
  10. And if he did, would that make the Jays a 90 win team? How do you know he doesn't get into their faces or talks to them one-on-one in the clubhouse?
  11. How do we know he isn't motivating them enough? Are you in the clubhouse everyday or the dugout?
  12. They maybe should have had a players meeting earlier perhaps, though at the end of the day not sure it would have made a huge difference. We aren't in that clubhouse, so we can't comment on the type of chemistry and whether or not it has a huge impact on the teams success. When it comes down to it, the responsibility is on the players since most have under performed.
  13. I don't think Gibbons failing to motivate the team is the reason why the Jays are in last place. There's more to it and that starts with the players.
  14. I don't think Josh Johnson was a mistake - this was a guy who won an ERA title and should have been a solid No. 2 starter. I don't know what has happened to him this season, it's baffling. Most on here thought he'd have a big year especially with this being a contract year. I don't think JPA would be released for nothing - more likely traded than anything since I'm sure there's a dumb GM out there that loves those HR's!
  15. Gibbons has managed the bullpen fine - other than yesterday but considering how bad the rotation has been and how overworked the BP has been, I can't fault him for the entire season. As for motivating the players, I don't know the type of impact that would have. Pulling a Tim Johnson won't have an impact and with the group the Jays have and the vets, I don't think Gibbons needs to motivate anyone. He has always been a laid back manager and he has always shown faith in his players by giving them ample opportunities to prove themselves and to get back on track.
  16. +1 I don't think AA fires Gibbons, because that proves that he was at fault to begin with by bringing him in to manage the team. It's not Gibbon's fault at all - he's supposed to have a good team to work with and really a lot of those players have underachieved greatly this season. If AA gets fired, then I could see a new GM bringing in his own guy to manage.
  17. I'll go with Melky agh
  18. People should get it out of their head - the Jays are not getting Castellanos/Wong/Polanco etc for relievers. I'm laughing my head off on how we should package Janssen and Oliver with Bonafacio for Castellanos.
  19. I doubt the Pirates move Polanco for just a reliever. I say Polanco is moved if the Pirates get a big bat in RF.
  20. Jays should move Janssen if the opportunity arises and Oliver for sure. Cecil and Delabar I doubt get moved at the deadline.
  21. Matt Kemp should have won that year anyways.
  22. Mark Melancon.
  23. The last time the Yankees went out to add CC, Burnett and Tex they won the World Series. They missed the playoffs in 2008.
  24. Alfonso Soriano looks like he'll be in pinstripes soon. He's already crushing the ball this past month and now hitting in that ballpark, he can be a solid power add for anyone down the stretch.
