I could see the Pirates signing Johnson if AJ decides to retire. He'd be a nice fit there as well.

San Francisco would be a great place for him. Pitching in the NL West, in that spacious park. The Giants rotation could be one of the best next season with Cain, Bumgarner, Lincecum, Hudson and Johnson. Just filthy.

His numbers against LHP and RHP have been pretty similar throughout his career. Still the Jays haven't had a power bat off the bench since Matt Stairs lol.

Morse wouldn't be a bad right handed power bat off the bench who could spell Lind at 1B. Not sure if he crushes lefties like Gomes does - gotta check the stats.

Morse would be a nice platoon bat at 1B/LF and a bat with pop off the bench. Morales likely will want 2-3 years upwards of $30 million which I don't think he'd be worth.

They will have a solid pitching staff, especially if Hudson stays healthy and gives them 180 innings. Cain Bumgarner Lincecum Hudson No. 5 starter They likely still will add another arm and some BP pieces. They need another bat (preferably a left fielder) and I think they definitely will give the Dodgers a run for their money again.

Doubt he would come to Toronto, though I'm sure he'd be a good fit in Oakland. He's the next Bartolo Colon comeback story.

I also hope the Rays don't steal away Ryan Hanigan next. I could just see it happening over the next couple of days.

I would have liked both here as well, though I'm not that disappointed about the Jays missing out on them. Likely they both would have expected more $ from the Jays to sign here so you're likely looking at $50 million upwards locked up in two players 35 and older.

It's not a bargain, though Hudson can still be a solid mid-rotation guy if healthy, especially in that ballpark. I didn't think he'd get $23 million over two years, though we're talking Brian Sabean here. San Francisco is a good place for him though. With the Lincecum signing and now the Hudson signing by the Giants, it will be interesting to see what someone like Colon or Haren now get on the open market. The price for starting pitching via free agency seems like it's going to be high this offseason. Thank you Mr. Sabean.

Also, hopefully Matt Carpenter falls off the face of the earth as well…both of those guys were incredible last season.

I think something more along the lines of his 2012 season with a better .OBP is what I'm projecting.

It's still way too early in the offseason to be resorting to these types of threads. Players like Dan Johnson get signed to minor league contracts all the time, especially early in November like this. Has one of the other 29 teams gone out and made a big splash yet? No. Unless you consider the Phillies signing Marlon Byrd one. If this was in January and the Jays made zero moves at all, then I could understand your anger. Though right now in the middle of November, c'mon lol! -

I don't care where he starts when the season opens…that doest make a difference. I should have reworded my post if I confused you. Right now at this time, this team should consider him as just a No. 4 or 5, nothing more (especially if they are serious about contending next season). He's not a No. 2 by any stretch of the imagination until he proves he can go out and give this team 200 innings. Morrow definitely has shown the potential to be a No. 2 starter in the past, and I've always been a huge fan. Though I don't want the Jays to solely rely on him carrying this rotation. They need to acquire one or preferably two pitchers who are "No. 2's or 3's" to slot into this rotation with Dickey, Buehrle and Morrow. If Morrow makes 30 + starts, and realizes his potential, then that would be huge next season. -

That's why Morrow needs to open the season as the No. 5 starter. The Jays can't rely on him being a No. 2 next season. -

I said Colon on a one year deal worth $5 million would be a nice sign and would be worth the risk. Though if Oakland offers that same amount, what makes you think he'd choose Toronto over Oakland?

I'm not comfortable in giving Colon $16 million over 2 years, that's just my opinion. He's 41 and we've seen pitchers regress at that age. He's been great for Oakland the past two seasons, though I don't think you can expect him to carry that same value moving forward.

I would be on board with that - instead of that guaranteed second year perhaps replacing it with a club option. I'd only go year-to-year with Colon. I'm sure Colon gets a raise from his 3 million salary last season. $5 million is pretty reasonable, though don't you think Oakland then snags him at that price? If Oakland and Toronto are both offering $5 million, I think he stays in Oakland. Likely Toronto would have to outbid any offer Colon receives from Oakland.

He might, not denying that. Though the Blue Jays can't be relying on a 41-year-old pitcher to solve their pitching woes. Oakland got terrific value out of Colon these past two seasons. I'm not sure paying him $7-8 million is the smartest thing since you'd be really paying him more on what he has done the past two seasons then what he'll likely produce over the next two.

He's 41-years-old? So you're expecting him to continue pitching at this level over the next two seasons, especially in the AL East? I don't care what Colon did the past 2-3 years - you pay him based on what you project from him moving forward. He's 41 and there are a lot of question marks on whether he can repeat that success over the next two seasons especially at the Rogers Centre. If the Jays are looking for a No. 2 or 3, I want one with the least question marks. I think the $7-8 million would be better spent elsewhere.

He's at that age where there are more question marks with him and he can just flame out. I like Colon and how he has transformed himself over the past 2-3 years, though I don't think its rational to expect similar numbers to his 2013 season in 2014, especially with the Blue Jays. He's pitched in Oakland the past two seasons, so expecting him to pitch that well at the Rogers Centre over 15-16 starts is just unrealistic. If the Jays are going out to sign/trade for a No. 2 or No. 3, I want one with the least question marks. The Jays can't afford having Bartolo Colon just blowing up in their face, which is very possible. He's best suited for Oakland and I'm sure he stays there.
