  1. How do we know he isn't motivating them enough? Are you in the clubhouse everyday or the dugout?
  2. They maybe should have had a players meeting earlier perhaps, though at the end of the day not sure it would have made a huge difference. We aren't in that clubhouse, so we can't comment on the type of chemistry and whether or not it has a huge impact on the teams success. When it comes down to it, the responsibility is on the players since most have under performed.
  3. I don't think Gibbons failing to motivate the team is the reason why the Jays are in last place. There's more to it and that starts with the players.
  4. I don't think Josh Johnson was a mistake - this was a guy who won an ERA title and should have been a solid No. 2 starter. I don't know what has happened to him this season, it's baffling. Most on here thought he'd have a big year especially with this being a contract year. I don't think JPA would be released for nothing - more likely traded than anything since I'm sure there's a dumb GM out there that loves those HR's!
  5. Gibbons has managed the bullpen fine - other than yesterday but considering how bad the rotation has been and how overworked the BP has been, I can't fault him for the entire season. As for motivating the players, I don't know the type of impact that would have. Pulling a Tim Johnson won't have an impact and with the group the Jays have and the vets, I don't think Gibbons needs to motivate anyone. He has always been a laid back manager and he has always shown faith in his players by giving them ample opportunities to prove themselves and to get back on track.
  6. +1 I don't think AA fires Gibbons, because that proves that he was at fault to begin with by bringing him in to manage the team. It's not Gibbon's fault at all - he's supposed to have a good team to work with and really a lot of those players have underachieved greatly this season. If AA gets fired, then I could see a new GM bringing in his own guy to manage.
  7. I'll go with Melky agh
  8. People should get it out of their head - the Jays are not getting Castellanos/Wong/Polanco etc for relievers. I'm laughing my head off on how we should package Janssen and Oliver with Bonafacio for Castellanos.
  9. I doubt the Pirates move Polanco for just a reliever. I say Polanco is moved if the Pirates get a big bat in RF.
  10. Jays should move Janssen if the opportunity arises and Oliver for sure. Cecil and Delabar I doubt get moved at the deadline.
  11. Matt Kemp should have won that year anyways.
  12. Mark Melancon.
  13. The last time the Yankees went out to add CC, Burnett and Tex they won the World Series. They missed the playoffs in 2008.
  14. Alfonso Soriano looks like he'll be in pinstripes soon. He's already crushing the ball this past month and now hitting in that ballpark, he can be a solid power add for anyone down the stretch.
  15. Gordan Beckham is available if anyone missed out on Ackely. At least Beckham is hitting a lot better than Ackely this season and was very highly touted as Ackely when coming up. I'll entertain offers for anyone looking for a second baseman.
  16. He's always struggled against the Reds in his career. I don't think Lincecum will ever be the same pitcher he was when he won the Cy's, though he's definitely capable of pitching the way he did in the second half last season. Still has solid K rates (125 K's in 116 IP this season).
  17. I took Davis in the Premier League and I remember some people disliked that pick where I took him. Never expected him to mash the way he is now, though I was expecting a .260 average, 35-40 HR's in March. Crazy season. Always liked him, even when he was with Texas.
  18. I think the lineup is fine to be honest when healthy. Reyes, Bautista, EE, Lind, Rasmus, Melky make a solid lineup. They need either a 2B or 3B depending on what they do with Lawrie. As for pitching, that's the concern. Dickey was brought here to be the ace and we are really just seeing a No. 3-4 starter from him this season. Buehrle is what he is - a solid No. 4 innings eater at this stage in his career. Morrow is a huge unknown - can't rely on him to be a No. 1-2. Romero is a mess. Hutch can be a solid addition next season, though who knows how good he can be. The rotation is what needs to be addressed in 2014.
  19. Toronto will offer a QO. They have to. I don't think Johnson gets a 5-6 year deal as many thought at the beginning of the offseason. I say it's likely a 1 year deal based around $8-$10 million + a bunch of incentives so then he can reenter the market the following year and try to cash big. If he doesn't want to stay in Toronto I'm sure he'll sign with another team even if it means a pay cut from what the QO would be.
  20. I don't think you'd have to give them Sanchez. Likely Gose + someone like Nolin and some other pieces.
  21. I'll take Lawrie at 5!
  22. You got a great deal. Wheeler has all the potential to be an ace, though he hasn't shown it yet. And we know young pitchers are very dicey. Everyone thought Bauer was going to be an ace, and look now. It takes time. I like Wheeler as well, though I'd still take Kemp over him. The 1st round is nice, but its a year away, and Jorge Bonafacio is a mid-tier prospect not anything special. If Wheeler goes all Matt Harvey and that 1st rounder turns into a solid top-50 prospect, then its a good deal. There is risk on both ends so it will be interesting to see how this pans out over the next 2-3 years.
  23. It depends on who's available when I make my pick There is risk with Kemp because of the recent injuries, no doubt. I'd just find it tough to sell him now when his value is at its lowest. It's not like he's been bad for 2-3 years in a row. We're talking about 3 months since he hasn't been at 100%. He posted up solid numbers last year when healthy. I doubt he goes in the first round in a redraft right now, though I'd definitely consider taking him somewhere perhaps in the mid-late second since the reward could be huge. I'm not writing him off yet at 28 years old.
  24. I remember offering a deal around David Price and at the time he didn't want to move Kemp for a pitcher. Overall, I'm not much of a fan of this deal. Kemp when healthy and on his game is a legit top 10 player in fantasy baseball. I just think this was a bad time to sell low on Kemp. Unless Kemp becomes the next Grady Sizemore...but we're not fortune tellers here so to use that argument is irrational.
