    Not much of a selection even back on Tuesday when I was looking. And the ones that were available were pretty expensive, around $250 per night. Unless you just booked a private room.

    Yeah just travelling. I went last November. Got myself a JR Pass and went all over. Tokyo wasn't that expensive as I thought it was going to be. I stayed at a brand new hotel in Shinjuku for $150 CAD per night. Other smaller cities weren't that expensive like you said. Hotels in Kyoto though were expensive and there was very limited availability when I was there, though that was the only exception. Even when in Japan, food and drinks aren't that expensive which was a nice bonus as well. And the food was fricking awesome!

    Hotels are what make travelling expensive. It's kind of ridiculous that these hotels can charge that much just for a place to sleep & shower. You would even think with the prices they expect people to pay that they'd offer free breakfast every morning etc. You can sometimes get good deals when travelling during low season. Some cities are more expensive than others however. Good luck trying to find a hotel downtown in NYC or San Fran at $120 per night. I find accommodations in some U.S. cities are sometimes more expensive then travelling to places in Europe or elsewhere. When I was in Japan, some cities like Nagasaki and Kanazawa, the hotels I stayed at were between $80-90 CAD per night and they were in good areas of the city and pretty modern.

    I'm glad I picked up tickets from the official site. Still expensive when you do the USD/CAD conversion, though if I bought the same seats on StubHub, with fees they'd come out close to $800 USD, which is basically 1K CAD.

    Yeah I had an extra pair for Game 3 last season and maybe only made $30-40 more on them. If a pair costs $500 face value already, its going to be hard to find people paying around $800 for those tickets. Even squeezing out $600 of someone would be tough. Everyone seriously wants to be a scalper these days. Its not worth the aggravation or stress to unload expensive tickets I find. Tried that with the Blue Jays last postseason and the Raptors during the playoffs in May. It's not worth it. That's why I'll only buy an extra pair of tickets if its a Wildcard game or Game 7 if I plan on reselling them, because you know they'll be in high demand.

    Good plan. I bought tickets to all ALCS games last season, and I regret spending $230 face value for my seats for Game 4 & 5 when I could have bought them between $100-150 USD. The afternoon games really kill value and it'll be even worse if the Jays are down lets say 2-1 or 3-1.

    I bet there are still so many Canadians who don't know they are being charged in USD when buying tickets on StubHub. Face value for ALCS ticket are already much higher then the ALDS, so it'll be tough to make a huge profit. Saw it happen last season, which is why I avoided buying ALCS tickets for Game 4 & 5 this season and avoided buying tickets to resell. Plus, like you said the fees StubHub hits you with to resell your tickets is pretty big as well.

    I could see the price plummeting before game time, especially if Toronto comes back down 2-0. Happened last year vs. the Royals, where ALCS tickets weren't selling for that much higher then face value on StubHub for Game 3, and they were selling below face value for Game 4 & 5. Plus, ALCS pricing is much more expensive in comparison to the ALDS. So tough to mark up a ticket that is pretty expensive as is to the average person/fan. If Game 4 & 5 are played in the afternoon, ticket prices will plummet big time. Likely will be able to get tickets for face, or even maybe a bit cheaper (if Toronto is losing).

    Afternoon game definitely had an effect. If the games started at 5PM EST here on television, they started at 2PM in LA. Plus its a huge stadium.

    Good thing I booked a room before Cleveland won Game 3 lol. The hotel I'm staying at still has availability but only suites left for like $563 CAD per night.

    Yeah mostly for private rooms. If I was travelling solo, I'd definitely go that route. I mainly rent private rooms with AirBNB when I travel solo, since its cheaper. I'm not paying $400 per night for a room, thats ridiculous. I'm splitting the cost so it works out to $225 total for the two nights. I'd basically be paying the same thing if I were renting a private room on AirBNB. I like AirBNB though sometimes they can be as expensive or even more then hotels. And the service fee + cleaning fee (which the host charges) + taxes can sometimes be ridiculous on top of the nightly average rate. You have to do your research and see what works out to be cheaper and more practical. As well, if you plan on staying somewhere for a week, having your own apartment with a kitchen is a lot better then staying at a hotel. As for Uber & Lyft promos, tried redeeming them when in Portland and Seattle back in September, though they are only for new accounts only.

    Those places aren't even available for those dates. Like I said, there isn't much of a selection available for this weekend.

    There weren't many AirBNB's available in the downtown area and they were pretty much the same price as hotels (in the $200-$250 range per night) and many didn't have two beds, so if you're travelling with buddies it's kinda of tough. Unless you stay outside of the city.

    I booked my hotel before the Tribe clinched last night because I knew stuff would get booked up quickly shortly afterwards. I'm staying at the Renaissance, which is 5 mins away from the ballpark. I'm going down with a buddy, so we're splitting the cost which isn't bad. Hotel taxes are what kills you. Total for two nights was $550, so paying $225 each. If I find anything else better beforehand, could always cancel. Not much of a selection for AirBNB's as well (probably not that big in Cleveland as it is in cities like San Fran, New York etc). Other options are staying outside the city around the airport, though you'd have to drive in for the games. If you just plan on going to the games, then that should be fine, though if you plan on going out for beers before & after the game, probably just best to stay downtown.
