  1. Not sure if this was mentioned in the buried pages earlier, but will say George Springer's HR last night definitely now overtakes Bautista's and EE's in my opinion! What an incredible moment to witness live in person!
  2. Damn I feel old. Only Max Scherzer on that list is older than me haha.
  3. Heading down to the game tonight. Should be electric in the Dome!
  4. Jays had to win Game 6 and they did. The bats came out and kept adding on runs to their lead throughout. They could have blew it right open a couple of times when they had the bases loaded, but yeah seems like 5 to 6 runs is the sweet spot for this team, especially when it comes to closing out a game. Yesavage at age 22 has been one of the best stories on this team. For him to bounce back like he did in an elimination speaks volumes about his character and how he handles pressure! He got lucky with those double plays when he had the bases loaded, but he made his pitch each time and didn't buckle down under pressure. Kudos to the kid! As for Vladdy, he's been playing on another level during the Postseason, both offensively and defensively. This is the Vladdy that is worth $500M. I know the Postseason is still a small sample size, but you hope Vladdy has unlocked another gear in his game, and we see this kind of Vladdy moving forward during the regular season. Looking a 10 WAR player out there if he puts up these numbers. As for Schneider using Hoffman for 2 innings at 30+ pitches: he got the job done and sealed the deal, which is the most important. You needed to win Game 6 at all costs. Just hope Hoffman is useful for tonight if needed and he isn't burnt out. You'll probably see them use Dominguez in a similar role tonight for the 8th and possibly for more than 3 outs. Overall, looking forward to Game 7 tonight. All hands on deck!
  5. Hoping the Jays win today and force a Game 7 tomorrow. Have tickets if it does happen. But regardless of what happens tonight, this was one of the best seasons in recent memory and we all got to be proud of this team, front office and the direction of this organization moving forward!
  6. $70M AAV of that is for Ohtani. Jays rotation: Gausman - $22M Bassitt - $22M Berrios - $18M Scherzer - $15M = $77M If the Jays had Ohtani, their rotation would also be right up there at $147M total. Snell is at $36M, Yamamoto at $27M and Glasnow at $27M. Difference there is that those guys when healthy can pitch like #1-2 starters. Outside of Gausman, Jays are paying guys like Berrios and Bassitt pretty much $20M AAV each to pitch like #4/5 starters.
  7. Let's hope the Blue Jays do what the Leafs seem they can't ever do!
  8. He was worth every penny, heck he probably was worth $1 billion. Dodgers have already made that $700M back in just two years.
  9. Blue Jays are a big budget team and as a fan you have to be thankful and excited that ownership has shown a willingness to spend big money over the last several years. It definitely beats the JP Ricciardi days or Beeston/AA days when it came to signing or trading for expensive contracts. If the Blue Jays signed one of Ohtani or Soto + another big name free agent like Fried or Burnes which they mostly likely would have, along with Vladdy's extension, they're right up there at the top with the Dodgers when it comes to payroll.
  10. The Jays have been showing a willingness to spend big money over the past two offseason's when they were targeting Ohtani, Soto, Burnes, Fried, Bregman, Sasaki etc. If they landed one or two of those guys, wouldn't that also be considered "trying to buy a championship." So what happens if they actually landed Ohtani for $700-800M two years ago? Likely would have also signed another big player or arm whether it was Burnes or Fried, along with resigning Guerrero to his $500M extension. No different than the Dodgers. Blue Jays payroll will never be as high as the Dodgers, but it's Top 5 currently. Add in an Ohtani or Soto, along with another big FA, the Jays are right close to the top, neck and neck.
  11. If the Dodgers are buying championships, what about the Jays? They were targeting Ohtani, Soto, Burnes, Fried, Bregman, Sasaki as free agents over the last two years. As well, Jays have Springer, Gausman, Bassitt, Berrios, Hoffman, Santander all on big contracts. They traded for Bieber. I'm sure if the Jays signed one of Ohtani or Soto, along with resigning Vladdy to his monster contract, you wouldn't be complaining.
  12. Yup I recall that during the game. They came on after the 7th and Siddall said you got to go with your two best pen options for the 8th and 9th inning and that was either Dominguez and Hoffman, whichever order you use them. Madison Shipman even said the Jays need to pad onto their run total. She even knows its tough for this team to close out 2-1 games.
  13. You should never get that emotional over a game. At the end of the day, the world continues to move on. We're not the ones who are playing on that baseball field. The Blue Jays players don't care about what happens in your life or get emotional for you when you're dealing with certain issues or in certain circumstances. At the end of the day, sports is entertainment.
  14. I don't even know what I'm reading from you when you make posts like these which are so freakin' ridiculous. Suarez isn't a bad player by any stretch of the imagination: 4.3, 3.5, 3.8 and 3.8 WAR seasons over his last 4 years. Is he a flawed player? Yes for sure. There are some things he does very well and some things he struggles in, as with majority of the players in MLB. Not everyone is an Ohtani, Betts, Judge, Trout, Harper, Soto etc. Mariners brought him back for his power mainly. They obviously know what else comes with his game (low BA, low BB%, strikeouts, meh defense). Does that make him embarrassingly bad? No! If Suarez isn't hitting for power, then sure he doesn't offer much else. But someone coming off an almost 50-HR season, just stop with spewing the BS man!
  15. Doesn't change the fact that based on Little's recent performances, there were better choices to use in that 8th inning. Whether Dominguez or Hoffman came through or not, they were the better choices. I don't think the SN commentators or fans would be as upset at Schneider directly if he used Dominguez or Hoffman. They likely would be more upset with Dominguez or Hoffman for blowing it, more than the managerial decision. The Jays need to be up by 4-5 runs to close out games pretty much. Like you said a lot of missed opportunities throughout the game where the Jays could have padded onto the score, but they failed to capitalize. In that case, and I'll agree with Jays24 here, if you're in a close game with your starter pitching well and you know you have questionable options in your pen, you need to ride your starters for as long as you could so you limit the # of outs your pen needs to get. Sucks Gausman walked Polanco right there with 2 outs in the 6th inning, otherwise maybe he still comes out for the 7th. Varland did a great job behind him, but maybe if Gausman could have been stretched into the 7th inning, Varland is available in that 8th inning. Regardless tough loss knowing the Jays were 6 outs away from being ONE win away from the World Series. Still in a good position to win two at home for Game 6 and 7.
  16. So according to you, this proves that the Jays don't have many viable late inning options to close out a close 2-1 or 3-1 game in the Postseason, especially from the 6th inning on. Jays victories in the Postseason: 10-1 13-7 5-2 13-4 8-2 Other than Game 4 against the Yankees which was close and a BP game, the Jays bats have been pretty much the difference maker throughout the Postseason. When their bats are swinging and putting up big numbers, Jays win. The Jays need to be up by at least 4-5 runs to win games.
  17. A couple notes/observations from this game: - Jays need to be up by 4 to 5 runs in the late innings. Having them try to close out a 2-1 or 3-1 game from the 6th inning on is worrisome with this current bullpen and current management. Not sure the Jays can win a 2-1 game in the Postseason. - John Schneider (or the front office) messed up this one when it came to putting Little in that spot. If every SN commentator was losing their s*** over the decision, you know it was a bad one. Little has been awful this last month. Yes he was great earlier on in the season and definitely was a big piece in the Jays pen during the months of May/June and July. Though in the Postseason, you have to go with your best arms and have to look at recent results. - This series is still far from over. The Jays just needed to win 2 of 3 in Seattle and they did. They bring the series back to Toronto and as John Schneider said in his post-game conference, the Jays have won 2 games in a row many times this season. They did in Seattle this series. This loss is a tough one given the Jays were in control for most of the game and could have been ONE game away from the World Series instead of TWO now. Though I think before playing these games in Seattle, if you said the Jays could win 2 of 3 and bring it back to Toronto for Game 6, we all would be for that! Overall, gotta hope the Jays bats come out swinging and score runs on Sunday. I don't have much confidence in a close game with the current BP and some of the management decisions we've seen so far. Regardless, Jays just need to win Game 6 on Sunday and then we worry about Game 7 on Monday!
  18. The bandwagons who jumped on and jumped off have now jumped back on. Supposedly, Miller will start today with Woo out of the pen. So that leaves Gilbert for Game 6 and Kirby for a Game 7 if it gets there.
  19. Weirder stuff happens in the Postseason. When you don't expect it, the opposite happens. Wouldn't surprise me if Scherzer pitched a gem for 5-6 innings in Game 4 lol.
  20. Just finished watching F1. Mad Max reminds me of Brad Pitt's character in the film. Never doubt age!
  21. Not sure the Jays have the type of bat to trade for Hunter. Barger + isn't enough. Maybe you see a team with a top hitting prospect/rookie make the swap for Hunter. Kind of like how the Yankees traded Jesus Montero for Michael Pineda. Teams that have the hitting prospects or young bats the Reds would be looking for: Boston, Baltimore, Detroit, Washington, or Texas.
  22. Please don't go to another Postseason game at the Rogers Centre ever again.
  23. Did someone from Seattle steal one his girlfriends or something?
