  1. Yeah after seeing his performance over the last year, the complete power outage and his physique, I have concerns of him catching 120-130 games per season. Having Jansen around or another solid second catcher is a must IMO.
  2. How has Kirk been performing this season? Do you think he could hold up and catch 120-130 games over a full season? The guy can't even handle half a workload sharing the duties with Jansen.
  3. Yeah as a fan of the game, I would love to see for once an Angels team with Ohtani and Trout in the Postseason as long as it doesn't come at the expense of the Blue Jays. Its what baseball needs.
  4. They probably should soon or make it a big priority in the offseason. With what we've seen from Kirk this season, the Jays need to keep Jansen around more than ever.
  5. He makes the best in-game decisions. Hemmerling for Mitchell paid off big!
  6. Yeah every bullpen blows leads, not denying that. I understand the bullpen hasn't been as bad as advertised but it's frustrating that they blow leads like this and I just don't trust this group to lock down a 2-1 or 3-2 game starting from the 6th inning on, especially against a good team in the Postseason. I hope Green can be the missing piece but again don't get all your hopes up and think he'll be the saviour. I hope he is, but let's see how he comes back from his injury. I still would try to go out there at the deadline to get insurance in case Green doesn't pan out.
  7. Lmao because I leave some constructive criticism of some things this team is lacking. Geez can't be critical of this team at all or everyone gets their pitch forks!
  8. Yeah it's frustrating because year after year the bullpen never gets improved or better. They are lacking an elite setup guy in front of Romano and they have been for the last three years. The Jays have a solid core in place and it's a shame they're wasting their prime years of Bo, Vladdy, Gausman, Springer, Chapman, etc., because they won't address the bullpen properly. Will come to bite them in the Postseason. They missed the Postseason in 2021 by one game, and it cost them Game 2 in the WC series against Seattle. And this season like you said, is hurting them in the standings.
  9. Then stop whining!
  10. Bassitt didn't pitch all that great and starting the inning with a leadoff walk and at 105 pitches, he just didn't have it tonight. This goes to show that the team doesn't have the pen that could close out a game starting in the 6th inning against an elite team like the Dodgers. Roster construction is the issue here more than anything. Schneider needs to work on his substitutions. Should have kept Merrifield in the game. He's been one of their more reliable hitters and plays solid D.
  11. Take those games away and that becomes a streak of not blowing any leads!
  12. Not at all. Go look up my previous posts on where I've praised Atkins and the big moves he's made. Sometimes he does overpay for some veterans or players and giving them more years than he should e.g. Grichuk, Morales, Roark, Bassitt etc. Otherwise, my complaints with him has been his inability to finish off the roster every season in terms of the bullpen, bench and roster depth.
  13. I've praised Atkins on a lot of his big FA signings like Springer, Ryu, and Gausman and his big trades like for Berrios and Chapman. Go back and look it up. Springer hasn't been Spinger this season and sucks Ryu got injured but it showed the baseball world the Jays were willing to spend and make big moves to better the club. My issue with Atkins is it seems he completely ignores the end of the roster in terms of the bench, depth and bullpen. And it shows over the past three seasons. This bullpen still lacks an elite setup guy to Romano (lets hope Green can be that guy). As well wasting ABs on players like Tapia or innings on pitchers like Hand, White etc. I could go on.
  14. Yeah just take out this game and the games Garcia blew up in, and damn those stats do change in a hurry and we have an elite pen!
  15. I'm not trolling but some homers on here just the other day said this pen is really good and has been one of the best in baseball. It didn't look like that tonight. A lot of homers on here need to stop being apologists when it comes to this team and FO.
  16. Yeah on a team with Postseason aspirations, you can't keep running out these types of players. Giving innings to White, ABs to Tapia, high leverage situations to Brad Hand, running out Manoah every 5th day. This has been going on for the last 3 seasons. Its frustrating that the FO ignorance to this might cost the Jays a playoff spot by one or two games. It did in 2021.
  17. Swanson hasn't really been anything special. He's pretty much a solid middle reliever under club control, that's it. He isn't an elite setup or late inning guy. Again, shows you this FO isn't that great at assessing or targeting elite BP pieces. We have a ton of middle relievers, this team needed an elite late inning reliever to pair with Romano. Let's hope Green can be that guy once he comes back!
  18. I thought the Jays bullpen was one of the best in baseball lately? What happened?
  19. Everytime I hear Bellinger, I go crazy. The dude is having an awesome season and looks like he's back into his MVP form.
  20. WTF are you talking about? Going to the bullpen early in Game 2 last Wildcard series cost the Jays. I'm sure they could have squeezed another inning out of Gausman, their so called ace. Their bullpen couldn't even close out an 8-1 game in the Postseason, I can't wait to see them try to close out a 2-1 or 3-1 game from the 6th on.
  21. You're such a huge homer when it comes to criticism of this FO. You can build cheap bullpens every offseason by finding guys coming back from injury or who had a down year. Or looking in-house. Relievers are volatile. Its alright to have turnover with middle relief arms. For a team that is at its luxury tax limit almost, I'm sure they could find an arm who could replace Garcia at 1/3 or 1/4 the cost.
  22. Would Juan Soto be available? What do you think he would cost?
  23. I don't think guys are being yanked too early. But its good to assess the situation at hand. Sometimes it doesn't hurt having Gausman, Bassitt or Berrios go through a lineup for a 4th time. Again depending on a lot of things. The Jays don't have a pen that could close out a 2-1 game starting in the 6th inning. I just don't feel comfortable. That's pushing it to its limits and lets say trying to do that back-to-back games in a Wildcard match, not good. Look at Game 2 of the WC last year. Heck they couldn't even close an 8-1 lead when they took Gausman out.
  24. I don't want to see Yimi used in a 2-1 game in lets say the 8th inning in a Postseason game when a game is on the line, period. I'm not paniking but he's not an elite setup man. He's a middle reliever at best.
