  1. In the 2000s, you probably would be saying Ricciardi was a genius and praising him through the roof. Riccardi and his FO never did draft any superstar elite talent, though yeah some players came up, contributed and had some solid years like Aaron Hill, Shaun Marcum, Adam Lind, Ricky Romero, Dave Bush, Brandon League and Brett Cecil. Nothing spectacular though from 2002-2009. So far, under Atkins and company, it's just been Bo Bichette and Alek Manoah who has made positive contributions from 2016-2023. Pretty much the same timespan as JPR. Jays have done a decent job with International Free Agents like Moreno and Kirk, so will give the FO credit for them thus far.
  2. We all hope for the Jays sake. But geez hasn't looked good at all thus far.
  3. HOME RUN DERBY Picking winner: 5 Points Runner up: 2 Points Robert Jr. - mphenhef Rutschman - Garcia - Arozarena - Jonn Betts - Vladdy - JaysAllMighty, Spanky Alonso - JohnHavok, JaysBlue Rodriguez -
  4. When things don't go the Jays way, you always place blame on other outside factors for this team whether its the division or tough schedule. Sure the AL East is a tough division, but because the Jays sit in 3rd place and aren't in the division lead doesn't mean all of a sudden the MLB needs to shakeup the divisions as an excuse. Jays have been solid at times this season though also disappointing as well. They definitely are a better team and should be playing better. It's on them. We've seen teams like Cleveland, Detroit, Kansas City, Minnesota and even Chicago have good teams in the past. Doesn't mean being put in a division with some of those teams that the Jays all of a sudden are going to become a 100-110 win team.
  5. Yeah wouldn't make any sense trading KK unless the Jays were selling. He's still a valuable piece and asset on a winning team. Varsho just needs to start hitting plain and simple. He doesn't have to be elite offensively. Just post a 100 wRC+ at least. He needs to improve on his .214/.277/.368 line, which is awful. If Varsho can just be a similar hitter like Max Muncy, I would take that in a heartbeat!
  6. You can't say MLB needs a shakeup every time there is one crappy division. I know the AL Central sucks this season, but there have been years where Cleveland has been really good, and other teams as well. Every season you're going to have stronger and weaker divisions. The AL East has always been one of the strongest divisions in baseball. That's because the Yankees and Red Sox will spend big money, along with the Blue Jays now. As well, you have teams like Tampa and Baltimore who both have done well on small payrolls. This season it seems every team in the AL East is clicking. There were years in the 2000s where it was just the Yankees and Red Sox dominating, and the Jays, Orioles and Rays sucked. I don't know what the solution is. Maybe an NHL type standings but not sure.
  7. I'm drafting Arjun Nimmala in the LOD with my 1st round pick.
  8. Good to see the Jays win 5 of 6 against two bad teams in the AL Central. Great bounce back today after being down and after getting no-hit yesterday. Hope they continue to roll after the All Star break.
  9. And how many games are the Jays still back?
  10. I find it hilarious how some posters are saying the 2015 team wasn't that good when comparing it with the 2023 team lol. Last time I checked, this current Jays groups hasn't gone to the ALCS back-to-back yet.
  11. Yeah the rotation lacked an ace during the first half until they traded for Price who was money in the second half. Performed poorly in the Postseason though. Dickey and Buehrle were solid vets and inning eaters. Don't see much a difference between them and Bassitt. Estrada was really solid out of the rotation and pitched in some big Postseason games. Stroman pitched well when he came back.
  12. That 2015 team had a great chance at winning the World Series that year after the trades AA made at the deadline. Offensively, that was one of the best lineups we've seen.
  13. Even with their struggles, it won't impact them in the standings. They banked a lot of wins early and as they go through this tough stretch, won't impact them one bit.
  14. I'll take Jansen for Game 2 or do our Game 1 picks carry over?
  15. Yeah saw the highlights. Was carted off the field but he gave thumbs up so glad he was conscious at least. Hope he's alright.
  16. I'll stay up for the game tonight. Going to drink a whiskey and have a cigar on my patio while watching the game!
  17. Jays will play tonight, rain or shine!
  18. My bad. Admit my mistake.
  19. Yeah Merrifield has been solid this season. Last season he really didn't make much of a difference down the stretch or in the Postseason was the point I was trying to make.
  20. Bass wasn't all that good while here and he was chased out with pitch forks last month. Pop definitely has some nice potential long term, but didn't make a huge impact last season and really hasn't this season. Merrifield last season didn't do much, but this season he definitely has been a really solid contributor.
  21. Not necessarily but usually the standings at the end of June or beginning of July are a good indicator on the kind of team you have. Orioles likely will be in contention for one of those 3 WC spots or maybe miss out by a couple of games. They're not going to be below .500 this season. So yeah so far the Orioles have been the better team and have actually dominated the Jays so far in their matchups. Jays could definitely surpass them in the standings come the end of the season, not denying that. Though to walk around here all confident saying that the Jays are a much better team when they're 4 GB the Orioles approaching the All-Star Break, I mean the Blue Jays need to start playing better in order for that to happen.
