  1. Are those two going to amount to anything anyways? If the Jays don't make trades like this, they'll never improve and go deep into the Postseason. Hicks was a great add given the bullpen situation especially with Romano out!
  2. That was AA's first big move and it had to come right after he took over the GM seat, which is no easy task. Travis d'Arnaud turned to be decent but yeah he was traded. Gose was traded for Devon Travis I believe but sucks injuries ended his career. Yeah no stud or anything. Atkins didn't have to trade a franchise player for prospects when he took on the job. He actually was reluctant to as they botched the timing for JD and got nothing after. Atkins has never had to made a trade where he trades a superstar for prospects.
  3. Posted in Blue Jays Discussion Thread haha.
  4. Lmao making me do all the work now FFS! I think it was like only $20 but yeah you said you bet the Mariners would finish ahead of the Rangers still and we bet. I guess it would be in the Around Baseball thread. I'll try to find it.
  5. Should I drop him in the LOD?
  6. Rangers looking like they will finish ahead of Seattle. Can't wait to cash in on that bet with Stangstag. I should have got better odds after deGrom went on the IL haha
  7. Lmao he's been the Cards closer for over a month now. He's pitched in high leverage situations.
  8. Great add with Hicks! Props to Atkins for adding a high K arm who can close games and pitch multiple innings if need be. Love the move!
  9. Yeah I approve this move by Atkins. Hicks can be a lockdown BP arm and can pitch multiple innings if needed. Nice insurance since Romano is on the IL and could move back to an 8th inning role when Romano gets back. Also, once Green comes back, this back end of the bullpen can look good. Glad Atkins went after a solid arm. Go after Hader now as well haha
  10. Yeah if Jays don't remain competitive and go all full rebuild, attendance would take a hit down the road. Especially at the prices now being charged for tickets lol.
  11. Wonder where Verlander goes now.
  12. I can't believe I'm coming back here for advice after that disastrous Bellinger/Sale trade. In a 20 team dynasty league, who would you take: OF Kerry Carpenter or SP Dane Dunning?
  13. Yeah Hader would fill the role like Miller did with Cleveland in 2016. That's what the Blue Jays need. Hader filled that role before when he was with the Brewers as well. I would leave Romano where he is. As for Bednar, love the control that comes with him but moving him out of his closers role I'm not a big fan of. We've seen guys traded and taken out of the closers role suck with their new clubs. Either way, adding another elite pen arm should be the priority.
  14. Yeah he can be and I hope he is, but putting all your eggs in one basket hoping Green is that guy comes with risk. He's coming back from injury and we've seen arms sometimes take a while to settle in. Doesn't hurt adding another elite bullpen arm at the deadline.
  15. Yeah adding Hader or Bednar would really solidify this pen. Plus getting Green back as well, Jays would have a lockdown pen in the late innings with Green, Bednar or Nader and Romano. Wish they made a deal like that either in 2021 or 2022.

I'm not going to comment about possible reasons why because if I state a possible reason, likely will result in a ban. Hope he can have a full recovery. It would be a cool thing to see LeBron play with his son at some point in the next couple of years and hope that could still happen.
  17. Yeah we can say that about any player. Add a couple more hits, home runs, and their numbers look a lot better lol. His power outage has gone on for over a year now. He's just become a slap/single hitter who isn't even hitting for a high average. He's still getting on-base at a decent clip and I've praised him on that even months ago when he was struggling. I just find it appalling that so many posters on here have a lovefest with Kirk and think he's a top tier player. He's been a huge disappointment this season with the bat. And to be honest I'm concerned moving forward. Offensively, if Kirk can be like Gregg Zaun with the bat, would take that in a heartbeat. Right now Kirk is just looking like a .250/.330/.330 guy which isn't good enough.
  18. Rogers also owns the dome, so for them, spending that 500 million on renovations benefits them long term as well. In terms of the renovations, it's bringing more fans into the ballpark especially the casuals, they get to raise ticket prices, food and drink prices. Rogers is raking regardless if this team wins a World Series or not over the next decade. Shapiro did his job!
  19. Rogers and many other owners just care about making money. Shapiro has done his job as President filling up the ballpark every night, while even increasing ticket prices close to 3x the cost. Whether the Jays make some trades at the deadline and get knocked in the WC round, or whether they stand pat and still get knocked out in the WC round, they're still selling seats and making money for next season.
  20. Kirk has been awful for over a year offensively let's not forget. This isn't just a two or three month slump this season only. He looks like he's in awful shape and not physically capable of catching 120-130 games over a full season. Huge concern moving forward. Right now I would rather have Jansen catching during this short window of the Jays to contend. if Kirk starts hitting again, then even better. But would rather have that insurance of both Jansen/Kirk instead of solely relying on Kirk who's bat has been nonexistent since last June/July.
  21. I guess Fangraphs can get it wrong sometimes.
  22. Wonder if he could be a trade candidate at the deadline? Padres are going nowhere.
  23. Can he catch 120-130 games?
