  1. lol. It looks like he has some nice raw power. And he can't be any worse than JPA defensively so you need to throw the #toptencatcher at Kratz.
  2. That's a fun fact but the Rangers and Phillies gave up more runs today. Actually the Jays must be on pace to record the worst run differential in MLB history though.
  3. That's probably what I would have said too. There's some holes in his swing. The deal was bad given Lawrie and Reyes' injury history and giving away Aviles, not necessarily for Gomes at the time. That being said they wanted to see what Rogers could do and to be fair his ceiling was and still is a lot higher than Aviles'.
  4. While drinking down the sorrows as a Leafs fan, that was really fun to see during commercials. The walk off hit had a packed stadium on their feet, reminiscent of the good times for baseball there.
  5. Fans don't give a sh*t if Goins provides 0 WAR instead of 0.3 or whatever. They care if Bautista is going to lead their O to a playoff berth. Come on, man. Goins is irrelevant.
  6. Not to the general fanbase. I don't know why you're ignoring this... Goins is so irrelevant to the Jays that he can't really be a hated player unless they hit him 2nd for 40 games and he stinks. Considering he will hit 8th or 9th almost every game he's almost given himself a shell.
  7. If you're laughing at my post, you're funny and skip a bunch of words for the sake of it. Never said he was overpaid. Said he was some combination of overpaid, overhyped, and a jerk. So he'd fall into the latter 2 categories more than anything. Overpaid, not so much of course. Goins falls into none of those categories even though he probably sucks, so he won't be a hated player.
  8. Honestly it's all just speculation. Let's see how it plays out and pick a couple sleepers.
  9. Ya man, I agree on the Rockies. They have a very good to great O if they can be healthy. I'm still a fan of Brett Anderson and hopefully he becomes a nice piece for them. In the NL they might be the best to beat the O/U total, but the Braves (under) is also intriguing.
  10. Thumbs up if Pujols and Hamilton ruined your fantasy team last year (that happened to me). On another note who do you have as sleeper teams this year? I am picking the Royals to make some noise.
  11. You're mixing up message board hate with overall fanbase hate. The board consists of a small fraction of fans, all the more relaxed fans I knew actually liked Thames. JPA on the other hand was hated by everyone except blondes who don't actually watch baseball.
  12. It's subjective. Some people could probably find a pretty legit argument for the Angels even. Blah blah Pujols and Hamilton will bounce back, Weaver is still a #1, etc.
  13. Good point. This board: Sierra. General fanbase Lawrie seems like a good candidate.
  14. They've made some pretty suspect moves but until they fall in the standings everything we say is just speculation. They are still the best team in the AL IMO.
  15. No it's usually someone who's either overpaid, overhyped, a jerk, or some combination of all three. For that reason I'm going with Jose Bautista.
  16. As much as I don't drink the SABR Kool-Aid that is a pretty funny post. All you need to know is what WAR stands for to know what replacement level is.
  17. I'm surprised only one person has mentioned Jeff Tam. The Jays gave him plenty of innings for a while and I think he walked more batters than he struck out. Actually how about the whole 2003 Jays bullpen? They actually had a good team that year but nobody could close.
  18. Potentially most players but I agree Hutchison is the main pitcher to look out for. You could say Drabek who's of course in a similar position. Romero who I am by no means defending is another interesting case. Morrow seems to look bigger and stronger, so that's a positive that you see in ST. I thought you were talking in more general terms.
  19. why? that's really what ST is all about. Seeing who's improved and who hasn't. The actual stats mean almost nothing. What are you talking about?
  20. Ya I don't know why you think ST means nothing so that's a pretty bad comment IMO. It's about scouting, not what their numbers suggest. Evaluating what a player has accomplished since September is very important, why do you think it's worth nothing?
  21. All he said was that he was our best starter (although it was only a month and a half). That's probably pretty accurate considering the others.
  22. Dude, he said he was tired of reading how pitchers suffer more in the AL East. Park factors make pitchers suffer, so it's not really relevant to point them out.
  23. Nolin looked awful last year. I actually like Rogers more than any of the other "vet" guys, but that's not saying much. Hopefully Hutchison steps up this season, but it's hard to know at this point.
