  1. Decent chance he's gone by the end of May.
  2. Again, your ability to understand my post is lacking.
  3. Exactly. I was wondering what point is actually significant. Obviously 2 feet isn't, but is 10 feet? 30 feet? He obviously has a stick up his ass or doesn't understand how to read if he thought I meant "20 feet is not a lot because 2 feet is not a lot".
  4. I'm asking if 20 feet is that big of a difference. Get the f***ing stick out of your ass.
  5. Right, but so can 399 and 401, but if his average fly ball distance increased by 2 feet, that would be basically nothing.
  6. 20 feet or so, is that even a big difference? Doesn't seem like it.
  7. He's a mid rotation young starter with some upside. That's pretty valuable. Those saying he could be a 1 or 1A are pretty delusional but he could be a pretty solid pitcher on the cheap.
  8. Is Duquette supposed to be Ricciardi 2.0? Also, what exactly would the tampering charges be? I have a hard time believing they would be so harmful that it's worth Jeff Hoffman.
  9. He doesn't strikeout a lot of guys, I wonder how badly his K rate is going to decline after a couple more seasons. Also IIRC Detroit is one of the slowest infields in baseball, how much was that helping him? I'm just not a fan of guys who get by hitting their spots at such a young age. Plus, it's not that uncommon for a player to be pretty good for a few seasons in their 20s and then suck.
  10. There's no substance in referencing it multiple times if that's going to be your only argument. Why even have a message board if every discussion starts and ends with someone going to fangraphs and looking at WAR and calling it a day? Referencing stats that everyone knows already is a complete waste of time.
  11. I am not a big Happ fan, I thought he was making a little less than that. Why do you keep referencing WAR? I know what his WAR is I don't care, I am just not a Porcello fan he just seems like a guy who is good but could fall off of a cliff. Time will tell how his career goes.
  12. I meant at the price but it depends on the team. For Boston clearly you take Porcello, for Tampa or a team with a crappy infield maybe you take Happ at less than half the contract.
  13. So you're going to find a backup who is better but might affect Dickey's performance and morale. I don't see the point it's backup catcher, not a very important position and Thole does at least seem to handle/call the knuckleball well, which is possible but not guaranteed from another catcher.
  14. Excellent point twisted he was super 2 I didn't think of that.
  15. Price got 19.xx so yeah Porcello seems steep, he's a mediocre pitcher who overachieved last year, and people think he's good because he came in when he was 19. I'd rather have Happ and his contract for a year.
  16. “I’ve thrown 75 or 80 percent of my starts since 2010 to Josh Thole, and I love him like a brother, but to have a guy that can step in and do it as well is a nice commodity.” All you need to know. They are going to keep Thole around, they invested quite a bit into Dickey and his personal catcher so may as well let him have what he wants. It's not like Dickey's been awful, let the veteran guy choose who his BACKUP CATCHER is. I don't see what the issue is, you're not going to get anyone much better than Thole anyways to backup.
  17. Hopefully someone else is better, but decent chance Kawa is the best 2B on the team.
  18. "They signed him as a free agent to a major league contract." Who cares, my point was that site which was referenced didn't account for this, since it says almost everyone (Bautista, Reyes, etc) are not out of options.
  19. Izturis is on a major league contract.
  20. They have him for 4 years... how much longer do you want to commit to a guy who's only been good for 2 seasons?
  21. Other 4th OFers who could actually contribute on offence lol. Fred Lewis had a nice short run here.
  22. Dirks is alright, but one thing... he can be frustrating on defence. Hopefully people can live through him being an idiot sometimes and realize he's a bench player who can actually hit and usually play decent defence... better than Mayberry or Fred Lewis at least.
  23. He had a good series in Boston last year. Other than that he was an automatic out, seriously John McDonald looked a lot more competent with the bat than Goins. I also do not think that type of player deserves a roster spot... let alone a starting position that they ACTUALLY gave him last year.
  24. Whatever. He probably wanted a huge overpay to come over from Japan. Pass.
