  1. ^^^ that's a good point too. But you would agree, batters stepping out of the box is not the biggest problem, right?
  2. Yeah for sure. Ortiz makes a good point. Honestly they are targeting the smaller problems here. Guys taking forever to throw a pitch is easily the most annoying part of the game. The challenges last year were awful but it looks like they are trying to make adjustments for that.
  3. I wonder why he's suspended. It's not uncommon for players to have cocaine in the offseason. It sounds like he just needs to go into rehab which is really sad to see. You guys can make fun of him but it is hard for a guy to deal with addiction issues. You never really get healed.
  4. His potential is undeniable, I think reading into his stats as a major leaguer is stupid. He is transitioning into a strike thrower. He's a good prospect, let's just see what he can turn into instead of labelling him a bust.
  5. Dickerson ugly K rate... but I guess he's their 6th OFer (7th if Dirks can do anything), so that's ok.
  6. Joe Saunders would've been a nice minor league signing. Hopefully they add someone like him to stash in AAA.
  7. He's a big wildcard and as long as he is healthy I can't see Travis or anyone else getting the starting gig. Travis might take over soon but it's hard to expect him to come out of spring as the #1.
  8. -It's only been 1 year for the Ubaldo signing, probably a bad contract but might not end up being "atrocious" -Lind had a better year than Butler, but again it's not conclusive he's better -If they pursued Headley and McCarthy they still would have missed the playoffs, so maybe the shouldn't have -They didn't sign Tanaka or Garza, doesn't mean Santana wouldn't have helped
  9. It makes sense now. Have Estrada and Redmond in the bullpen so that they can go with 6 relievers and give Thole a spot. Hopefully that's not their reasoning but it's possible.
  10. More like Big Mac sauce. Only using Steamer and nothing else would be pretty myopic, wouldn't it?
  11. Hehe well I use Steamer projections + some special sauce, so I obviously don't make my own projections without a lot of help
  12. I haven't done the projections yet but this is one of my favourite things to bet on. If I were to knee-jerk bet: Over Yankees Indians Astros Mets Padres Under Rays Royals Nationals Cubs Diamondbacks
  13. Good off-season, should have been better.
  14. Not a huge fan of the Miley trade. It wasn't bad by any means but I have a hard time believing it is in the top 5 transcations.
  15. If Redmond is the long guy, maybe they give Estrada a look in a late inning role? Then he could still be stretched out when someone gets hurt.
  16. Something is up with Shields that we don't know. If he signs for less than 4/80 like the rumours suggest I bet he'll fall off of a cliff. That's crazy for a guy of his calibre.
  17. Their team seems pretty good. Myers/Middlebrooks could both breakout. Quentin could be nice depth I wonder if they will give him a look at 1B. If they got Shields I might pick them for the 2nd wild card, remember they have the 2 worst MLB teams in their division. Hey, don't forget about Luebke. Is he healthy? Another sleeper to add with Johnson/Morrow.
  18. They have the same question marks that they had at the beginning of the offseason, even more with the departure of Lind. Being really top heavy is probably a terrible way to build a team, are we allowed to be mad that they didn't address the obvious problems?
  19. If this is the price is right the last guy should pick 1.
  20. Thing is, Smoak could be extremely bad. At least Navarro is proven to be passable as a hitter. I'd rather they keep him than dump him for nothing just to sign some mediocre reliever.
  21. I'd rather see Tolleson get playing time than Goins. God please no Goins.
  22. Oh yeah he showed some real promise a few years back. Could be a sneaky good bullpen addition.
  23. That is fair and at this point it seems like a given he will settle for less than the 5/100+ most were predicting. I would be outbidding every team with a back-loaded deal if that's the case. They are in win now mode, having 3 of the most reliable pitchers would be a huge asset.
  24. No no, I am asking how you think that. Are you just making these numbers up? I am not trying to call you out, I am just wondering what is making you think there is a difference between 4/70 and 4/75, why would the 5 extra million maybe entice him to come here but 4/70 there is no chance?
  25. Based on what? You can't see him coming for 4/70 but possibly 4/75, this late in the offseason how can you tell the difference between the two?
