Yep exactly. I was in the midst of typing a similar response before I read what you wrote. These articles are stupid. Phillips has never had a good eye so he relies on making decent contact when he see a close pitch instead of working the count, I don't see a problem with that.
Yep more balanced. The Rays look to be the weakest team easily unless someone suffers a lot of injuries. They're not awful, but every other team is decent enough to be quite a bit better barring huge injuries.
He said both, and I agree. The Yankees have a lot of upside if they can stay healthy. So do the Jays, but with Stroman out the pitching could be a big problem.
I don't know/care about the WAR, but I think Norris has the best chance to be a nice piece. Maybe a mid-rotation type guy. I fear Pompey will be almost useless for a little while.
That's a good point. The other side of the coin is that it's helpful for relievers to know when they're going to pitch, from a psychology standpoint. Some guys in the pen were happy when Farrell took over from Cito for this reason. It's helpful for players to know they're role and what inning they will possibly pitch in.
You might have to consider the circumstances too. Edwin got hurt at a REALLY bad time last season, considering they were a fringe playoff team. Injuries, even big ones, when the team already sucks don't matter too much.
Yeah they attempt to find out out many HR etc a guy would have provided but they also didn't look at who the player was being replaced with. I don't find it very interesting.
Usually happens around the 2nd or 3rd week of April. Any of the spring training ones are usually positive (like the "Lyle Overbay bandwagon" back in the day).
Agree, although he has quite a bit more offensive upside than Valencia. It seems that because Navarro will get to DH a lot, they might be trying to add a guy with a bit more versatility than Smoak. It would be better if they got someone who hit left handed but I guess they couldn't find a fit.
They're giving him a look at 1B/3B. I really think he's competing with Smoak. If he could be used as a sort of an emergency 3B/LF and play some 1B passably he could be the more useful guy to have on the roster.
Then why'd you reply in the first place dude (I assume you are a dude)?
You are saying that the Yanks are garbage at scouting and development, so AA is better than Cashman. If I'm not worth debating with why did you even reply in the first place and make it seem (to me at least) that you're making s*** up?
I'd probably take Cashman over AA. He's made some nice moves and gets pressured into the bigger contract which usually end up looking poor after a few years. He knows what he is doing, for those that say he only did well because he has a huge payroll let's see what Friedman does. He will shell out huge contracts that will look stupid from a $$$/WAR perspective but will still make the Dodgers a better team in the short term.
If they work out the financials, they should get Ethier. He wants to get traded, could fill in and get some DH time if everyone is eventually healthy and Pompey is useful.
